totally agree but the collossus costs me 0 mana coz it is in an affinity deck
and the sphinx well that deck still neds some work
Affinity. I'm an old school player and I had to look that up, but the DCI must have went apeshit over that ability.

Still, I prefer something a little more simple and eloquent. Low costs critters, peppered with enchantments.

Youthful knights with unholy strength are rather scary when your Elves just got terrored and your grizzly bears are pacified.

Edit, Since you edited: I've been out of the loop for a while. Getting a 15 mana card out on turn 2 seems like a throwback to the days of Channel/Fireball. I'm not quite sure why we'd want to go back to that.

I was a proponent of Moat decks, back in the before time. In the long, long ago. Something designed to give my fliers the edge. But I was always a bit overzealous back then and put creatures in that we're unnecessary. Serra Angels sure, but why did I bother Sengir Vampires when Hypnotic Specters were cheaper and better.

Oh well.
ahh the good old days are really over my friend I realised that when a good friend of mine sold his black lotus on ebay to pay his mortgage re-payment.

I only mentioned a few of my decks there i used to play a couple of swarm decks as well still have a goblin deck and an elf tribal but but i dont play them as much since a friend of mine got a silly sliver deck, i needed to change tac :D

Oh, you don't have to spend a whole 7 mana to put an Eldrazi into play. My preferred method works on the first turn:

I know this will sound off or bad but- what do you mean by deck list if I may ask?
A deck list is simply a list of all the cards in the deck, and their number. It's useful to post them if you want someone to critique your deck and suggest improvements.
You'll need 9 mana, btw (you need to pay the Entwine cost if you don't have it in your hand yet).

A quick question on Protection: is it still in effect even if the creature is in the graveyard? Cuz if that's the case, I don't think you can Animate Dead/Exhume Emrakul.

This really brings back memories... I was really enthralled by this way back when MD5 was Standard. That is, until I hit the realization that this hobby was making my poor college boy ass even poorer.
"When Emrakul is put into a graveyard FROM ANYWHERE its owner shuffles his or her graveyard into his or her library"

How can one Exhume when there is no legal target in the graveyard (as it is empty)?

My first deck was a Red and black deck. It was the Rakdos Guild pack (or what ever it was called) It's a fun deck to use now, made alot of changes but still got the main focus on Hellbent and with a side order of Elemental black red combos, so yeah I would say black red is favorite combo as The creatures and spells work well for my frame of mind.
But favorite colour all together is Black. The mix of kill, destroy, bring back and just "OWN!" cards are just alot more fun I find personally in black.

I recently bought the blades of victory deck from M11 which was white and black did enjoy using that, and I also got the Doom Inevitable which a blue black deck, but the most lucky thing was I picked up 2 extra boosters also well (not including the ones in the new decks) and got the Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas, which just makes the blue black artifact based deck even more sweet!

I've had several mono and combo decks, I've even tried an all artefact deck. I think my favourite was a mono red fast deck. Haste creatures, lots of fast, low cost spell damage and cheap creatures.

I also had a red-blue flying deck for a while, fun times. Counter x, tap y, damage z etc.

Right now the only deck I have built is a mono black rat deck, just for nostalgias sake since that was my first deck.

I miss mtg, haven't played in such a long while. There's no one to play with here though. Everyone I used to play with has either moved away or doesn't play any more. And there aren't any tournaments held here either. Oh well..

Yeah, I kinda got reminded of that one while I was driving home. Anyway, the question still stands (creature protection from black in the graveyard being targeted by Exhume or something similar).

EDIT:
Affinity was the reason Artifact Lands became banned during the tail end of the MD5 cycle. Ravager Affinity became such a staple that most decks at the time are either a Ravager variant (each contains Disciple of the Vault, Atog became the Poor Man's Ravager, etc) or a Green Artifact Hate. Even other decks had to have Green "just in case" they go up against Ravfinity (which is 90% of the time).

I'm new to magic, but I have to say I prefer blue and light as a secondary, I like the idea of "Slow and Steady" and am pretty careful with other things as well...

Although this deviates a bit from the topic at hand, I haven't really played much magic games, and I was wondering, what happens if you don't draw a land card in your first hand? I mean, the one (very short) time I did play, I only drew one island card, used that, and the next card I drew wasn't any land card either, since my hand was full and I had nothing I could summon, I really couldn't do anything, couldn't draw another card, couldn't summon monsters, none of that.

So, is there some way in the rules to get around this or what?
Official rules say you may mulligan, you shuffle your hand back into your deck and draw six cards, if you don't like that you may do it again for five, technicly you ca keep doing it but after you hit about four there's not much point.

OT: My favourite couler is Green, large creatures, large numbers and constant buffing.
My favourite deck is my green black thalid deck, countless sapprolings, a herd gnar, fallen ideal and a willingness to sacrifice about two hundered creatures at once tend to make opponents cry.
If you have 200 1/1 thalid tokens on the table...why not just attack? I mean you only need to do 20 damage.
A few reasons:
1. The way my deck is set up it's entirely possible to get that many in a single turn so I can't attack with them just then.
2. There are a few cards that would happliy stop such an assault in it's tracks, cards such as Hissing Miasma or Brigid.
3. I often use it as a suprise-I-just-beat-you at-one-health-you-direct-damaging-bastard! desperation move,so I often don't have the luxury of planning an attack.
4. quite a few people where I play use enchantments/creatures that restrict my creature count or weaken all my creatures, so again, bring them in then sac them is my only option.
5. And finaly, it's just so damn satisfying to deal 4-500+ damag with a single creature, especially if they are using a flying deck and I give my Gnarr trample.

Not to say that hasn't backfired on me, it's because of this deck that I instantly hate anyone that uses Boros fury shield.

If memory serves, color protection does not activate until the creature is in play. A creature with Protection from Blue can still be countered when it's cast, but you couldn't play something like Unstable Mutation or Regress on it.
I see... Heh, the only way I can see how to not get gibbed when Emrakul goes into play is if you have a Vedalken Orrery in place before it gets out, then play a Wrath of God.

Mine is blue, in many many forms over the years, because I like manipulating the battlefield and being tricky. My latest Blue Meanie is based on taking control of others' creatures and canceling the rest. I also have a pretty mean artifact deck based on Master Transmuter. http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=220510 Sorry, I don't know how to do the spoiler thing.

Apparently Emrakul is no longer tournament legal. I guess if you don't play in tournaments, that's fine. But when I played Magic way back when, no one would play against a non-tournament legal deck. Although I hung out in card shops, so...
Hmmm... Which format? I'm guessing Standard only. I also hung out in card shops, so my Broodstar Affinity deck got a lot of exercise. It can be faster than Ravfinity (only in the toughest of tough deck draws). The only deck type it really lost to most of the time is the aforementioned Green Artifact Hate (turn one Oxidize, turn 3 Viridian Shaman). Any green deck at the time, actually.

One of the decks I faced has Kismet, Stasis and Chronotog. Once those got out in the proper order, he'll skip his next million turns. You lose through excruciating library burn if you can't kill him with what you had before that happened. Also, Stasis has the best card art, EVER.

Well...Emrakul doesn't have protection from activated abilities...so how about an Executioner's Capsule?

He has protection from colors, so still no. Seems like Emrakul is the "fuck you" button if it ever gets out.

I originally rolled White a lot, but eventually grew to love Green. I guess I just love the endless supply of mana and the huge numbers I can dish out with big creatures (or a lot of small creatures). I like throwing a little red in there if I have mana acceleration so I can fireball people for 20+ damage. That's always fun.

Protection from colored SPELLS (spells use the stack). Not from all colours like Pristine Angel and Etched Champion.

Still, Emrakul is one mean flying spaghetti monster.

Aw crap! Totally an old-guy moment there!

EDIT:
Here's a thought: What happens if you have both Platinum Angel and Abyssal Persecutor on your side?
