Sufficiently advanced science is indistinguishable from magic, sufficiently reliable and logical magic is indistinguishable from science, and a sufficient application of either is indistinguishable from a plot device. So it is a draw.

Ah, but you see, a sufficiently advanced mage can cast Wish, Polymorph, Chain lightning, protection from missiles, and all sorts of fun things that make science more-or-less ineffective.

depends is it video game/ harry potter magic that you have to recite a spell or exchange some sort of energy to work is it where you can pull that energy out of thin air and shoot lazers or is it more of a psychic thing whre you have to concentrate on what you want

Well, i am sure at least a few of you have heard Arthur C. Clark's famous quote about technology and magic.

And if we are pulling from sci-fi then the two are on equal footing. I'm prety sure you woul wind up with mutually assured destruction.

pretty sure they would be even. If 1 side gains the upperhand the other would find a way to tip the scales again.

With the arcanum route technology would ofc win while if you go in a D&D way magic would win because theres nothing much technology can do when a mage decides to call a meteor down on a city. If we take the balanced route we have to go to Whitewolf and the setting of vampire the masquerade and werewolf the reckoning and ofc Mage the awakening. Here its pretty much balanced out. Theres also nothing to say a mage wouldnt use a shotgun either imagine a mage casting fire on his bullets so they would set their target on fire. Technology can ofc do that too with another way

Magic and technology are the same.
example
Mage makes portal to the past with a ritual

Scientist make portal into the past with time machine

In real life magic is just scinece we don't understand at the time

Well it has to be magic of course. This is because from what I have seen of magic you can do pretty much anything with it. How ever science has rules and boundries.

Errm... magic is undefined so we can't make any sort of judgement on it.

Also, though this is probably several pages too late, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

Technology would win because magic isn't real.

Depends how far into tech they've gotten. If they can counter magic with a hyper-advanced uber-shield, sure, science would win. Barring that, I'll stick to my caster.

Magic and Tech are on pretty even ground in the Warhammer 40K Universe and many others like it. But for the purpose of fun comparison? Dr. Strange vs. Iron Man. Dr. Strange would probably win.
