The Holodeck.

Right now. It is basically the kinect with force feedback, so we can do it... Somehow...
Believe it or not we are not too far from it.

Honestly, I'm holding out for the space elevator. The amount of money that it will save on shuttle launches and the like will make it much more feasible to send materials into space, and who knows? Maybe we'll have a space hotel up there soon.
Believe it or not that is actually in the planning stages.

Grrr, you stole my idea... Space hotel linked with space elevator.

A quiet vacuum cleaner. This is all I'm asking for. It's so freaking trivial yet we haven't managed to make it. I don't want to be watching the tele and, from the other side of the house, be disturbed by what sounds like a continuous, monotonous draining of my soul.

Yes it is indeed a city inside a giant pyramid. Specifically the Shimizu Mega City Pyramid, proposed for construction in the Tokyo Bay area. Capable of housing 750,000 people it would stand 14 times higher than the Great Pyramid at Giza and is so large that it cannot currently be built with convential technologies or materials. It's estimated it would take 1000 years to build if we started building it yesterday.

Science should totally get on with that then.

LoL! Just a matter of "super" engineering. Disney made the first spherical structure. There are buildings that clam to be indestructible to any weather (yeah they also said the Titanic was unsinkable and look what happened). We could totally do that. But since we are "lazy" it's just a cool idea in a science fiction novel... :(

Auto-correcting pens. Come on, who hasn't written an essay with an ink pen only to find out you misspelled 20 words? That would be pretty cool to have a pen that fixes spelling mistakes.

Zerg. Because why not right? That would be a fun weekend. Also zombies, for the same reason.

EDIT: Also more blimps. That can move the speed of sound. Unrelated to above

Oh gods, so many ideas, you have no idea...

-Feasible laser weapons and/or kinetic weapons
-Teleportation (quantum entanglement FTW)
-Related to the above: some kind of hold-everything device (teleport, but don't reappear at the other end; "just" hold the data and rematerialize whatever at the entry point)
-Jetpacks/other means of personal flight
-Stable cold fusion
-and more!

I've always wanted a hoverbike. Quantum computers would be cool too as they'd be incredibly fast. GET ON IT SCIENTISTS!
