So, I've finally managed to get round to completing Mass Effect 1 with all the decisions and whatnot the way I want it. Now I'm about to start Mass Effect 2 with that character. So, the most obvious question is what class should I be? I downloaded the 3 main DLC and I bought the firepower pack. I played as a Soldier when I first played Mass Effect 2 so I know how to play the game, it's just a question of what class will be fun to play?

So, steer me in the right direction, my good fellows

EDIT: I should note that, having done all the loyalty missions in my previous Soldier run, I have access to all the bonus powers. I'm also a little tempted to do Infiltrator but since I got the Firepower pack and since when I get the Widow it will be too easy, I'm curious as to your suggestions

I played as engineer which turned out to be a ton of fun, now as a adept which is very cool also, but it all depends on the person, I recommend you to import your character from mass effect 1 its way cooler.

I played as whatever "class" is the biotic/tech combination.
It was really fun for me, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Although, as said, importing your character adds to the story a bit and can make it a little better.

Yeah, I did that but you can choose a different class form your ME1 character. For example, my ME1 character was a Vanguard. I imported him into ME2 but when you're first 'reborn' with the Lazurus Project screen you can choose a different class.

I should also note that, having done all the loyality missions in my Soldier run, I have access to all the bonus powers

Well if you enjoy breaking the game with overpowered abilities be a vanguard and get Barrier or fortification from the loyalty skills , Charge + Barrier/Fortification = Win!

Well as I said, its a matter of personal taste. Great game by the way a ton of fun

I'll likely be trying to get the cheevo for completing Lair of the Shadow Broker on Hardcore at some point so I'll consider that :p

i liked the sniper, i think its called infiltrater. Yeah it has a easy mode, due to everytime you zoom in theres a short slow down effect, but i did like ambushing baddies.

Yeah, Infiltrator. Like I said, though, when I get that Widow sniper rifle (The one that normally only Legion can use) It's gonna be wayyyyy to easy.

i played a vanguard, the charge is pretty epic, it did mean my team was always playing catch up though as soon as i saw an enemy i was straight across the other side of the room.

Sentinels are ridiculously overpowered, and it's awesome. Makes Insanity difficulty feel like a cakewalk.

Vanguard is the most fun in my opinion. I have a hard time playing any other class because I love the Vanguard class so much.
I like Vangard + Geth Shield Boost. I charge in, then inevitably take some damage. So the shield boost helps me get back to cover. Reave is the most universally useful bonus power, however.

All the classes are good .. ME2 is reasonably balanced in this regard.
On Insanity difficulty (it's the only difficulty I can comment on, since I never played anything else), the combat-based classes (Soldier, Infiltrator, Vanguard) have an advantage in killing speed.

If you intend to play the game multiple times, though .. I suggest holding off on playing a Vanguard.
'cos it's so high octane, for some people it ruins the other classes.

I'm a hardcore adept fan, though I've always felt in a game where biotics and the treatment of said persons is such a hot-button issue, adepts should have more dialogue whenever biotic-related issues arise. Such as when Kaidan tells the story of his training or Jack's background comes up. But if you don't care about extra dialogue, an adept is a fun way to play the game without having to use guns all the time. It's far more satisfying to drop someone off a ledge or slam them into the ground.

Now, if you go adept, you're going to want someone in your party who can handle shields. Warp is an absolute must-have because of its effectiveness against armor, so a shielded enemy is about the only thing an adept can't handle without assistance. As for bonus powers, I usually take either Barrier or Slam depending on if I want survivability or offensive power. When it comes to weapons, I usually choose a sniper rifle since an adept is better at picking off enemies from a distance. Plus, you can use powers through the scope, which gives you alonger range on all your biotics.
