Making big gameplay decisions for stupid reasons

I tend to have a problem with doing this, and since I'm bored I'm wondering if anyone else does similar kind of things.

The most recent one I'm thinking about is this: I'm playing Dragon's Dogma and am considering deleting my current mage and starting a strider. But not for any significant reason. Just because I tend to run, jump and climb around a lot, as well as really enjoying the whole "climbing on giant monsters" thing, and somehow a mage doing that just seems weird. That is basically my entire reason for wanting to change.

Plus I accidentally made it so my male character walks like a woman...

I mean, it's not like I'm very far in. I'm only level 8 and it didn't take me very long to get here at all. But then again I really don't want to play that prologue section where you play as a totally different character again. That annoyed me. This game really needs more than one save file space...

Dunno what the problem with an effeminate walk is. Do all heroes have to walk like Stallone? Maybe that's just his thing?

Speaking which, maybe he's an athletic mage? Kind of a cool idea, honestly.

I thought you could just re-roll your character whenever you wanted to in Dragon's Dogma?
Anyway, similarly, I restarted the original Mass Effect about 5 times because Shepard always ended up being an ugly fucker. He still is, just not as bad.

Also, in Dark Souls I generally just go for looks/weight over actual armour. So even if I can normal roll with some really good armour on, I'll choose the cooler looking weaker armour that lets me normal roll.

"Lets add Co-op and hold the game hostage that it must sell X number of copies to keep this rather LARGE franchise alive. While we're at it, lets throw a cover system in there because killing Necromorphs has always been about being Gears of War right?"

Dead Space 3 is not Gears, never played the same as Gears and most certainly shouldn't RESEMBLE Gears of war. Appealing to a wider audience doesn't mean cover based shooting, it means hiring me as the guy to design Necromorphs and practically the entire game (I'm not being cocky about my work, but a Necromorph isn't supposed to resemble a Lost Planet creature, unless it's the Hive Mind). I have one idea of a creature made out of Hands that PULL ISAAC APART if you don't shoot certain spots enough.

I've restarted Saints Row the Third twice, because I'm not quite happy with the order of cars I have in my garage.

About every three weeks I create a New Skyrim Character, get past the opening...do the first quest....kill first dragon. Three weeks later I'm back doing the dance all over again.

Uhh... Dude? Wrong thread.

OT: I've rerolled characters for silly reasons before, there's nothing wrong with it. I probably had a thousand characters in Oblivion.

What I meant was: Changing gameplay in Dead Space 3 was a terrible idea, the stupid reason was to "Appeal to a broader audience"

Ive restarted countless games because I was unhappy with my character.. either their build, appearance or name.

I restarted FFVIII at the end of disk 1 once, because I had renamed all the characters and it was starting to get confusing. I will always rename 'Angelo' to 'Cock' still though.. hehe, 'Cock Rush'.. ahem, sorry..

Also, in Skyrim I killed Lydia for her armour.. Not that steel armour turned out to be hard to obtain, so didn't I look silly when during my next dungeon diving excursion I came across a full set of it.

Fair enough about not making more games like Gears of War, but I think the author of this thread was talking about big personal gameplay decisions.

I started a new game of Skyrim and played 3 hours last night, just because I wanted to make a pirate... but then struggled to find a Schimitar that early in the game, so am essentially just a duel wielding warrior/rogue... This meant I didn't have as much fun as if I had just carried on playing my other more advanced character, and actually doing things I had not done before!

There is a reason I have trouble playing games like Fallout and Skyrim. I make so many character, many many characters. THEY ARE LEGION!!!

I am serious though. I make my character then I realize that I don't quite like the way they look, maybe the hair is slightly wrong or perhaps I regret my choice of eye colour or the way the tattoo looks and I go restart my character since Skyrim doesn't let you change your character after the initial creation on console.

I really wish games like Skyrim would give me the option to change the look of my character after creating them. Dragon age 2 and Kingdoms of Amular did this, you can't change race but you can alter the hairstyle and colour, that kind of thing. I really hope they add something like that in with the DLC.

Good news: judging by the achievements, they are.

OT: I often restart games when I realise that my character isn't how I wanted him. Similarly, I often restart from previous saves when i make the wrong decision.

I restarted skyrim to make a heavy armor stealth assassin mage, mainly because i thought the idea seemed pretty cool. Threw about 60 hours out the window

I've restarted several games I was 10-20 hours in just because I didn't like one aspect of how my character looks. I've restarted Mass Effect a bajillion times for that reason alone.

I had restarted a Fallout 3 save where I was about 30 hours in because I had forgotten what I was doing and didn't feel as "in the moment" with the story.

I tend restart my games a lot for very stupid reasons.

I scrapped a 300 hour Skyrim save because I started playing third person more often and didn't like how my Argonian's tail stuck out through my armor.

I know the logical decision would have been to play in first person, but logic had o place in that decision.

Plus, I'm pretty sure it's backed up somewhere.

If you want to reset your character without having to play the prologue again, keep playing your current character because there are ways to re-roll in the game:

First--Change his vocation at the inn in Gran Soren. It'll cost 1000 discipline points to become a strider, and that's not too hard to build up. You might find that the weapon and armor changes clear up most of the issues with how he looks when he walks, but you can also try putting him in a long cloak so that you see less of his body language.

Second--Save your rift crystals because there's a merchant next to the rift stone at the Encampment who sells an item that will let you change your character's appearance/stature/etc. He's not the innkeeper there; he's actually further inside and right next to the stone.

But for the record: the Dragon's Dogma prologue is a pretty decent action tutorial imo, and that character is significant later on, so seeing him briefly has a point. Also, the only time you have to play it is at the beginning of New Game. New Game + will always start with the dragon cutscene, and that also has a point.
