My thoughts on cod and its protagonists: There soldiers and in recent call of duty's they've been elite forces; they do not need to be complex characters they simply do what they are trained to do and that it react to a situation. They see no problem in killing anyone who is a threat. Sure it would be interesting to fight a non (islam/comniform vs USA) war fighting as eg Burmese soldier or Bosnian muslim or even the "enemy". Treyarch's idea of having a voiced npc is a good one as silent soldiers on the battlefield is a silly notion. Cod is not a realistic game and playing an entire game killing only a few people would not be in the franchises heart and the games are usually take place in big conflicts. Cod will not change and mod into what fans want due to the director and publisher. The fault is EA's other companies for not using their brains and not producing different games eg realistic shooters instead copying cod fighting the same boring wars.
