Making Friends

Well....For quite a while now i have been having problems making friend's and as of now i only have one friend...but the main thing is i'm just to scared to make friends...in fact i don't even have any friends on this website.So basically what i'm trying to say is...is there an easy trick that will help me overcome my fear of being social?

Well I am not the best at making friends myself, but I have one question.

your friend, is he/she a social person? if yes, how do you usually fit in in social situations with that person?

Also how do you interact with social events etc; Avoid them, go but stand in a corner, go but can never seem to interact with others?

See that can be a problem As most of the time people are to busy thinking of them selves to pay attention to the shy guy by himself.

But you said your friend is social, you should use that to your advantage, try hanging out with her friends, and do "boring" stuff with them. This way you will be acclimatizing to being in a social setting.

Your post and icon makes me want to cuddle you and tell you everything is going to be okay, you can be my friend since I seem to be in a similar situation to what you're in... well sort of.
If your friend is really social then as Aurgelmir said you can use that to be friends with your friend's friends. if you want some friends separate from your existing friends I would say try to get some form of hobby, from your profile (sorry for being such a stalker) you say that you write songs from that you have some discussion topic that isn't too hard to explain or isn't likely to scare people off. as for social events... Hmmm... I would just hang around people you know...

Try just talking to people standing in the que to the buss and things like this. You never now who you might meet

Talk to people. You could hit it off and you might not. You probably won't get close to most people you talk to, but you'll find a couple. And your friend could probably direct you to people they think you'll get along with.
Thing is, though, gotta be ready to make an effort. And make sure they're putting effort into it too. If they only talk to you when you talk to them and such, then they might not be a good choice of person to get close to.

My advice is the same advice I give to everyone with a problem: see a therapist. (I'm not being sarcastic. This is a generally useful thing to do.) Your issues could stem from social anxiety, low self-esteem, and so on. "Easy tricks" generally don't exist, nor do they help in the long run. Solve the underlying issues, and the problem goes away.

What, really? Odd. First, it doesn't make any sense because telling someone to see a therapist shouldn't be any more controversial than telling anyone to see a doctor. Second, I've done it before several times and nothing happened to me.

some examples?

join a DnD session held by a comic/hobby store, it's sort of nerdy but it's sort of fun and you'll meet some people

visit a convention; I went to a cosplay convention a few weeks ago and made a good hand full of friends there.

take an art class (or acting/music/whatever).

Oh dear..iv had some horrible experiences with d&d..there is a convention being held in a few days but its an "anthro"convention(anthro's are kinda scary)but i am part of a music class..and there is this one other girl in my music class..maybe i should hang out with her..but what if she doesn't want to hang out?

lol yea furries are a little odd...

as for the music class, you don't have to "hang out" you just need to spark some casual conversation and share some interests... it doesn't necessarily have to be the other girl in class either, maybe some of the guys would share interests... which seems likely because I can safely assume you're into gaming considering the forum we're on.
