I read the article a few days ago in the Telegraph.

Short story:
Scientists say they've created the "male pill".It was developed by researchers in Israel, the oral pill works by removing a crucial protein in sperm, effectively deactivating it before it reaches the womb. It's proven to be 100% effective?at least on mice. And that's not the only impressive upside. The pill only has to be taken once every three months, and reportedly has no impact on male sex drive or other side effects. Human trials begin next year; the pill could be available in three years

What is your opinion on this ?

I question it's reliability and lack of side-effects. If it is all it's cracked up to be then I probably would 'go on the pill'

Good for family planning, though I hope it doesn't lead people into practicing risky sexual behavior. I really can't believe people haven't been researching this for longer.

Good? I can still see idiotic stories popping up concerning how someone told the girl they're involved with he's took a pill and a condom isn't necessary, but hasn't. Hilarity ensuing.

Wouldn't use it. I'm also against the female variant of it. Just put on that raincoat (don't know if it is only a Dutch metaphore) and go for it. These chemical things and what not that aren't really necessary in the body? I am not fond of them.

Could be good, as long as they test the hell out of it before it gets into the market. It'd be pretty bad if it ended up accidentally sterilizing a chunk of the male population.

This doesn't deal with the prevalence of casual sex, and in fact practically encourages it.
(Sex with no consequences? (except STDs) What are you going to say?)

Men don't need dead sperm, they need very alive sperm and to fully accept the consequences of their shitty mistakes.

Very interesting news. I read a book once about male power. It wondered why women seemed upset that they bear a disproportionate responsiblity for birth control. The author asked, would you really feel more powerful if your only birth control options were to either wear something that diminishes the act or have yourself sterilized?

(And yes, I've worn a rubber. It's better than just slamming it in a window and taking a cold shower but it does indeed reduce the fun of the occasion.)

In short, I think, if this works as advertised, it will help empower men.

There has to be some sort of disadvantage to it. You don't just 'deactivate' part of your body without any side-effects.

Could be interesting, still, Hopefully they test the hell out of it...

'Cause you know..uh... I'd rather not wake up to find my junk horribly destroyed.

It will be really interesting for the human body to mutate to this pill , and future generation to be born sterile.
