This notion is absolutely ridiculous. In order to be a nerd you must stop interacting with others, showering, and caring what you look like? It's people that think like you who perpetuate these awful stereotypes that cause some people much pain. Because I shower, try to dress nicely, and seek out others for friendship and activities it somehow negates the nerd I've been my whole life?
Yes.
Self-described 'nerds' are usually just people with slightly above average intelligence who idealise the archetype of the brooding antisocial genius.
I find it almost audacious that these people would put themselves in the same category when they lack the 'brooding and antisocial' factors that are so frighteningly romanticised.

Nerdiness does not mean you have to become an aloof robot, distanced away from humanity. You can be a perfectly functional member of society. It is easier for any person on the planet to be with others who he or she can relate to, so nerds not uncommonly seek each other out. Society is more understanding of people who are nerds or introverts than ever before. However, as an extroverted nerd, not all nerds are introverts or socially awkward.
You seem to have a very generous definition of the word 'nerd'.
Personally I'm of the view that 'extroverted nerd' is a contadiction in terms. I only use the word to refer to antisocial introverts. Willingly antisocial people, not just people who get rejected because their interests or intelligence don't run parallel to some clique.
So that's who I'm talking about when I say 'nerd'.

There are no attractive nerds.
Any nerd who looks attractive is not actually a nerd, they only have slightly above average intelligence or they're only slightly into computers. They've retained their humanity, so to speak.
So the fact that I find intelligence attractive means that no one who is intelligent can possibly be a nerd since by your definition nerds aren't attractive. Does that make the muscular, can-crushing, sports enthusiasts are nerds since I don't find that attractive?

What are you considering "humanity" here? Do you think someone who is very into computers is less likely to give to charity, help old ladies across the street, or help out at a soup-kitchen? Um...your statement does not compute! :D

I believe the word you are looking for is "misanthrope". Perhaps "hermit".

I don't, but your definition is exceedingly elitist, condescending, and narrow, as if you're trying to hold onto a slim and outmoded ideal just for the sake of being emo and pained about it. As you yourself said, it's romanticized and you are guilty of it. Quite silly.

Personally, I didn't discover that I am an extrovert until a couple of years ago, mostly due to a lifetime of painful shyness. But even so, the two terms aren't mutually exclusive.

I like shy nerdy guys. I think they are really sweet. Personality counts more than anything.

I'm sorry, but I have no bloody idea what you're talking about.
I have a strange attraction to cute chicks with glasses, but that's probably not what you're asking...
Yup, yup.. I think we all have that strange attraction.

Including me. Except my attraction is a full blown "Omg, i'm in love" fetish.
But yeah, my girlfriend is unbelievably cute, and wears such hot glasses.. i'm.. just so lucky.. i'd like to rub your face in it more later.
Sir, you are the bane of my existence.
How awesome :D

You remind me a bit of Hoyt from Tru Blood, and a touch of Colossus from the X-men Movies. That's a pretty good combination! ;)

It depends on how nerdy. If we're talking like... months spent in front of a tv playing old school rpgs with no sleep, then no.

If we're talking about a guy who wears glasses, is genuinely good at what ever makes him a nerd and still has good hygiene/an active social life (a real one, not a guild) then yes.

I prefer nerds/geeks. I just like intelligent men. Someone that challenges me mentally and can have an intelligent conversation. My current boyfriend (and best friend of 7 years) is currently getting his masters in Network Communications. Most of my ex's were either gamers or PC junkies. I'm able to keep up on the latest technology, etc. Not to mention that I took some PC classes... but whatever.

Oh yeah, my boyfriend is attractive to me.
He is a cutie

Does he have a brother?

I once dated a girl who was actually nerdier than I was. I didn't know it was physically possible. Too bad we were just not compatible at all.

Aww, thanks. Glad you think he's a cutie as well. Yes he does. But he's taken...for the past 10+ years now. Haha. Sorry.

Anyhow, I find nerds attractive in the sense that I can often relate more to guys with nerdy and/or geekier tendencies. It's part of the overall package though.
Exactly the same reason why I like nerdy guys. That, and I find them to be less douchebaggy (unless they're pitched in heated online battle).
