"I think I'm good. Now if you don't mind, I need to figure out why the computer fucked up my book."

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"My point exactly. You can't get by on hearing if there are ambient sounds. Hell, if Sister or someone moves to get out of the way, you might pounce on them thinking it's your opponent. You can't get by on taste or smell, because you don't have the same abilities as Terezi. What other senses does that leave you?"

 

[Saltarius]

"Touch and taste. Touch being the only useful one unless by some deus ex machina bullshit I can taste and smell colors like Terezi. Not that I'd mind that."

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"Those five senses won't help you here. If you can touch Davesprite, you can stab him. What about echolocation? Humans can do that."

 

[Saltarius]

"Perhaps, but I can't do it. At least not now."

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"No... just saying, think outside the box. Now, I'm going to go study dolphins and platypus in a robotics workshop for a totally unrelated reason."
I walk off and lock myself inside a workshop.

 

[Saltarius]

"Can I get a chip for taste/smell colors and all that?"

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"I'm aiming for much higher than that."

 

[Saltarius]

"Can I still get one?"

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"Maybe. If I have the time. If this works, you might not need it."
I start charging up a Van de Graaff generator.

 

[Saltarius]

"This better not blow up in my face again."

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"Don't worry, it won't."
I pause for a moment.
"Then again, they eyes shouldn't have either..."

 

[Saltarius]

"That's because it's destiny or some shit for me to be blind. It's really not that bad, once you get used to the whole 'not seeing anything' thing."

 

[ShindoL Shill]

I open the door and step outside.
"This isn't seeing. Not in a conventional sense. Literally."

 

[Saltarius]

"Why do I get the feeling I'm not going to like this?"

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"Because last time I tried to help you, you ended up with shards of metal in your brain. Anyway, this plan probably won't have worked outside of salt water but we can try."

 

[Saltarius]

"Can we play it safe and make that chip instead?"

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"Yeah. We can also play it safe and not let you duel Davesprite."
I go back into the workshop and carry out a piece of body armour with wires running down the arms.
"Basically, this should pick up on our bioelectric fields, if it works. Then it sends the signals to your brain and let you detect us. If anyone moves a muscle, this should pick up on it. If it works."

 

[Saltarius]

"No offense, but I'm not particularly inclined to use your technology."

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"The only way this could hurt you is if I put the charge generator on backwards and you accidentally electrocuted yourself."
I start looking at a small disk.
