"Something was stolen from my company about three years ago. It turned up in an auction here just last week, which is why I've been sent over here."

 

[Saltarius]

"That's the only reason? To get your company's shit?"

 

[RaNDM G]

"Pretty much, but it's more complicated than that. We're not the only ones trying to take it back, there's all kinds that want to get their hands on it. What makes it worse is that the auction isn't over. The first showing lasted for nearly a day, they had to stop it when they went past three trillion. Those corporate fatcats will want to make sure it stays safe until the next showing."

 

[Saltarius]

"Well...I am technically an officer of the law. I could take it in as stolen evidence. As long as intergalactic statutes of limitation on larceny aren't much different from Earth."

 

[RaNDM G]

"That's exactly the problem. This object isn't exactly legal on this planet. If we told the authorities, they'd detain it. Or even destroy it. We would need to take it back by force, and that would start a war between systems."

 

[Saltarius]

"Well, this will certainly cut into that metaphorical 'hang out'."

I pick up a golf club.

"We best get moving."

 

[RaNDM G]

"Look, I'm sorry I dragged you into this. I really did want to just hang out, but I've been here for weeks now and I haven't turned up any good leads. Definitely when this job is done, I'll make it up to you."

 

[Saltarius]

"I want to say something stupid like 'Doing shit like this with you is enoguh', but tehn it'd sound like a fucknig retarded romance movie. Besides, I really need to crack some skulls."

 

[RaNDM G]

"Good. We'll be doing plenty of that."

 

[Saltarius]

"Now what exactly was stolen?"

 

[RaNDM G]

She takes out a photograph and hands it to you.

"That."

 

[Knife-28]

"What is it?" I ask Sister.

 

[RaNDM G]

"We think it must be some kind of door, but what's important is the lithographs. Our forensic team can't decipher it using only photographs. There are other factors like texture and depth they need to analyze if they plan on ciphering it."

 

[Saltarius]

"Have you like, never seen any movies about this sort of thing? These doors always have bad shit behind them."

 

[RaNDM G]

"We found this set into a cavern ceiling. There's only a few other crevices in the galaxy with the dimensions to match. We have an idea where it may belong, but we can't be certain until we get our hands on it."

 

[Sigma Castell]

A shuttle crashes through the wall an inch from Sisters face.The cockpit opens with a hiss and I clamber out.
I frown.
"Hrm. I missed. That doesn't usually happe-"
The shuttle explodes violently.

"Sigma. Sigma you have a problem."

 

[RaNDM G]

"You know I would call that good piloting if it weren't for the gas explosion."

I buy a sandwich and return to the others eating it. "Hey guys. Sis, it's been a while, hope you've been well. Hey RaN, I don't think we spoke much on Invictus, sorry for landing dead on your car twice. So what's this about black marketing?"
