It actually was, that's the sad thing. The day after this whole thing was announced it hit the news reals. But, American media at work here, it only got about a 30 second spot, the main story of the day being some Ex-Porn Star running for govenor or something along those lines.Quaxar said:Oh no, what will the WBC say to this, they are taking away god's punishment!
And why did I not hear of this before? I mean shouldn't things like this be in the news or something?
Lol, it's fine. I've obviously been able to cope with it, I just hope this kind of research leads to something that keeps other people from going through the same thing. ^.^Dr.Poisonfreak said:Sorry for your loss dudeStalk3rchief said:Since my mother died of cancer a few years ago, I've entertained this same idea. =DDr.Poisonfreak said:This is absolutely amazing , i mean if we can cure aids, then how long before cancer ?
If all goes well, I think we're making steps in the right direction.
a flaw? Viruses especially the HIVirus (it's very sloppy) has a very annoying habit of constantly mutating, so really this is no "cure" but more of a treatment."If we can replace normal immune cells with HIV-resistant ones"
Cancer ain't a disease, it's a defect. When we can 'cure' cancer we'll probably be at a point where we can 'cure' old age, since both would require changing how our cells work fundamentally.Dr.Poisonfreak said:This is absolutely amazing , i mean if we can cure aids, then how long before cancer ?
Cancer is a much harder target. And there's also ethical implications.Dr.Poisonfreak said:This is absolutely amazing , i mean if we can cure aids, then how long before cancer ?

While Acquired Immunity Deficiency Syndrome attacks the cells of the body, cancer becomes part of the cells of the body: Once you can cure cancer, you can also cure things like aging, infertility, eyesight, skin-colour...
That's a really treacherous road to go down, even if the benefits are worth it.
