Well they always say divorce is hardest on the kids...I guess this was an exception.
I can so imagine David Caruso saying that and then putting on his sunglasses, as The Who
starts to play...

Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.
Second-degree murder? What do you have to do to get first-degree murder, chop their head off and wear it as a hat?

Or is only second degree at the moment, because they haven't found the murder weapon, so it's not 100% conclusive, and there could be possible mitigating circumstances?

First degree murder means that there was evidence he planned it out before killing her.
Perhaps he just did it in an incredible fit of anger.
Second degree means it was intentional manslaughter, but there was no evidence of him planning it.

Well this isn't going to help, is it?
That was my thought too.

I understand, so he could have been having an argument, got really angry and picked up the first object that came to hand, which happened to be an Executioner's Axe, Katana or Broadsword, you know the kind of sharp medieval weapon that everyone has lying around the office, and just lashed out.

I fail to see how you can decapitate someone without some prior planning. I'm sure the charge will get changed to 1st degree once they find the murder weapon.

Should be an interesting case anyway (if that's not too callous a term).

I understand that this is absolutely horrific but:

"Obviously, this is the worst form of domestic violence possible," Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III said today.

...made me laugh.
Same reaction here.

I find it horrific that such acts ultimately reflect badly on minorities. I am sure he's not the first person to behead his wife.

And he'll get a reduced sentence because he'll say:

"Where I'm from, we..."

And no one will have the balls to slap his pathetic ass upside the head and say

"WE DON'T TOLERATE THAT SHIT HERE!"

The most interesting aspect of this story is the fact that the reporter did a horrible job of remaining objective and just reporting the news. A man murdering his wife for divorcing him really doesn't have anything to do with being a Muslim. Yes, he may have been a notable member of the local Muslim community, but does that really factor in to his motivation to kill his wife for divorce? Christians, Jews, and Atheists have never been involved in similar crimes?

The fact that he was a Muslim was probably the only reason this story was ran, not the horror of the actual murder. Congratulations to everyone that fed into the stereotype they spun this story with in order to hook you into reading.

Cutting off you wife's head isn't going to improve the world's view on muslims.
How does it have anything to do with him being Muslim? The article itself didn't even directly reference the correlation.

Actually, it did.

Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.

"Till death do us part she promised she said when she tried to leave, he cut off her head"
then if my death involves decapitation I can implicate my husband (asuming I'm married) from beyond the grave.
Poor lady she was so close to getting out of that relationship too.
