However despite how absolutely sickening this is, they are within their rights. Still doesn't excuse them from being complete assholes.
not entirely. the constitution roughly states that you have your rights as long as they don't infringe upon the rights of others. picketing a funeral procession, making the service unbearable certainly infringes on other rights. I'm surprised the man didn't start taking swings at anyone not knocked over by the spray.
Eh, it could be twisted either way to make it seem if they're within their rights or not.

Either way, I would probably have upgraded from "pepper spray" to "bat".

I'm going to laugh my ass off when Fred Phelps ends up in Hell.

Oh the irony will be so delicious.
Oh, it will be a most glorius day indeed. The Devil himself probably has a seat saved for Mr. Phelps.
That would be something I NEED to see.
Someone should make a movie about that!
I keep thinking of that one line Peach Wilkins uses.

Now, I bet when your boss waggled out of Hell, he done told the Devil he'd be right back, and the Devil says "Sure thing, Mr. Phelps. I'll hold you a spot."

It's amazing how well it works.
I don't seem to remember that line. Was it from an audio log?

Wow. The sin of Homosexuality... Fuck off Fred Phelps. This is just stupid. I mean sure your religion doesn't justify same sex intercourse, but why take it out on the troops. Y'know, the guys who are fighting to protect your right like ooo.. I don't know.. freedom of speech that way you could protest?I know your not aiming at the troops but your only giving the family more trouble when they just lost some one in the conflict. You couldn't protest any where else...

THANK YOU! I grow tired of hearing people saying Religion is the root of all evil. Where its mostly the people who are corrupt or just using religion for their own thing. To me, religion is like a tool. It can be use for both good and evil. Just like everything else in the world.

And just like that, I burst into laughter.

Oh immaturity, you sure are entertaining.
You've likely seen this then, but either way, it's a great way of taking the piss out of the WBC.

He should've resprayed the car, blacked the plates, and crammed the pepper spray into several gas grenades, if you ask me.

They're morons, but they're so deep into their persecution complex they'll weather any sort of "reprisal" as trials and tribulations or whatever.

Thus, ignore them.

Not sure if it will count as a spoiler, so I'll hide it to be safe.

It's from just before fighting Peach, he says:

"Now, I bet when your boss waggled out of Hell, he done told the Devil he'd be right back, and the Devil says "Sure thing, Mr. Fontaine. I'll hold you a spot." Ryan promised Fontaine was dust, and now here you are, doing his dirty. I guess that makes Ryan a bum and you a -"

I absolutely despises what these people stand for. Yet I must agree with the statements concerning the Fist Amendment; however that does not mean that I have to like it.

I see. Well, it does work pretty damn well in this scenario.

I would have used this on them instead.

Seriously though, it's about time someone did something about them. I'm all for free speach, but I think that blatant hate should be kept to yourself, and if you have a problem with someone, then you should just write about it, or shut the fuck up. We need to pass a world wide law that makes it illegal to publicly speak hateful words of any kind (unless it's hate against people who hate on others, then it's ok (yes I am aware of the hypocrisy)).

i've got an idea, everyone get a restraining order against them, and then if they come within 500 yards of anyone other than themselves, cops come and beat the shit out of them. soon they might just leave the country or end up in jail. and if they're in jail, they're gonna die. it's the perfect plan.

Wouldn't it be better to use stealth and lead an unseen attack on the protestors? Like, have a team of gunman with tranquilisers a hundred or so meters away hidden in windows, then simultaneously tranquilise the entire Phelps protest? Admittedly it would be funny, but seeing as the Guard people at the funeral were blocking view of the protest, it isn't like it would cause too much of a commotion. Also, if the assaults were repeated a few times at various protest locations the WBC might start getting a bit scared.

That's the problem with people this ignorant. They'd view it as "the Devil testing them and their faith", and they'd likely just ramp their protests up. I like the restraining order idea though, could easily be done before the funeral and if it's passed, they end up in jail, with quite a few people who likely wouldn't be too happy to see them.

The Fist Amendment? You mean the government passed an amendment allowing us to punch these bastards legally? AWESOME!

OT: I love/hate it here in Canada because of them. On the one hand, I don't have to see them, on the other hand, I can't get the chance to do shit like this.

Westboro Baptist Church was here in Vermont at one point (if I remember correctly), and protested at a high school in Montpelier. I heard that several gay couples made out in front of them. Oh how sweet it would have been to see the protesters rage at the sight of it.

Actually, I don't think that will happen, because there is no heaven or hell or any god to worry about pissing off.

The Patriot Guard have the right idea, drown out their free speech with more free speech.

Yeah, but I think it's better they aren't up here, I'd rather not end up with a criminal record. Still, the temptation to head to the US and protest them is a great one.
