I once punched a fellow Airman in the face over some petty little squable. It wasn't really about that, that was just the latest in a long line of down right shitty and stupid things he had done. Now seeing that I was an NCO at the time and assaulted an Airmen I figured it was time to hang up that recent promotion, but I just couldn't help myself.
Still a funny thing happened. When he went and tattled on me, nobody would go with him. When my shop chief asked the room full of Airmen and two Sgts what happened nobody apparently saw a thing.
I still had to talk with the Chief (for those not military, chief here refers to an E9 rank, while shop chief is a position that is not associated with range) and the First Sargent who both lectured me on how I got away this time but they where going to be watching me, and that while he may have deserved it, it still doesn't make it right.
The same thing applies here, oh man do they deserve a punch in the face, but doing so just confirms their points in their mind, and will never actually help you fix anything. You are not doing to help, or to teach them anything, you are just doing it to make yourself feel better.
