as much as I like the idea of them all getting beat into a bloody mess, we have to keep in mind that freedom of speech isnt for speech you like, its for speech you hate

well to be fair its like shouting fire in a crowded theater somethings you just dont say or do like protest the funeral of the soldier that died protecting your right to protest

they died following orders and fighting in a foreign land that, at best, we have dubious reasons for being in, hardly protecting freedom. Now of the died preventing cobra from finishing the weather dominatrix then I can see how that would be protecting us, but as it is they were acting more as a piece keeping force then anything else. And its not shouting "fire" in a theater, sure its disrespectful as hell but its not inherently dangerous to life and limb

sorry i probably should have picked a better example but still soldiers protect us and deserve respect and it doesn't matter whos funeral it is a funeral is a funeral and a grieving family needs to be left alone to grieve

as I said before its disrespectful as hell but really the same could be said of alot of speech, like against the president if you dont agree with them or any elected figure or even ceos of companies so thats why I am unwilling to say they shouldnt be allowed, after all, if the solders are fighting to protect us as you say then they are also fighting for freedom of speech

Well, you say "when" he makes it to hell. Which implies that it is certain that someone who behaves in a fashion similar to him will go to hell. As in, there is with certainty, a hell, and you believe in such a place. Also, because you're saying it light heartedly, one could assume that you believe the fashion in which you behave will have you exempt from hell.

It's terrible, the Westboro Baptist Church will probably sue the municipality claiming their civil rights were violated by the cities inability to protect their free speech. They may even win and be awarded damages (money), this is exactly why these trolls do this.

This. I'm part of the camp that believes the WBC is, for the most part, a money making scheme [http://kanewj.com/wbc/]. Openly attacking them solves nothing, and does in fact help them to achieve their ultimate goals. As unfortunate as it is, the only meaningful way to win against people like this is to ignore them.

That said, I've never been in attendance at a funeral being protested by these horrible people. It's easy to talk about turning the other cheek when you're not being personally attacked, but if I were in their shoes, I'd probably be applauding the attacker too, regardless of consequences.

My brother is in the Navy (more like Gavy) and I can tell you that if he died (the Middle east is mostly landlocked so I think he's safe) and those fucker came and protested, I would go get the machete I keep in my car and they would leave with fewer hands then they came with.

The WBC congregation is scum. I was a counter protester at one of their protests of a Synagogue in Denver (I'm a long time Christian BTW). But Committing assault against ANYONE is wrong for a reason, and anyone who says they'd want to kill/assault/injure WBC people is just as horrible as they are.
If you want to defeat manipulative thugs like them you need only talk about how radical and insane their views are when the opportunity arises. Incidentally, that's the same way I've learned to deal with Marxists and Socailists
