'Selfish' suicide threat man pushed
Man holding up traffic by threatening to jump off a bridge in southern China was pushed by a passer-by
pa.press.net
A passer-by annoyed by a man holding up traffic by threatening to jump off a bridge in southern China pushed him over the edge, calling the suicide attempt a "selfish activity".
The official Xinhua News Agency says Chen Fuchao, fell 26 feet onto a partially inflated emergency air cushion and suffered spine and elbow injuries.
Xinhua said Mr Chen was dangling over Haizhu bridge in the southern city of Guangzhou on Thursday morning when Lai Jiansheng walked by.
According to the Beijing Morning Post newspaper, Mr Lai said he pushed Mr Chen because "jumpers like Chen are very selfish".
Mr Chen's suicide threat - triggered by a 290,000 US dollar debt from a failed construction project - had held up traffic for five hours.

well, there you have it folks, a man close to suicide pushed too far. literally. what do you think on this? he got what he needs?, sorrow for the mistreatment for his poor soul, indifference? post your thoughts

p.s. bugger. unexpected.

I kind of actually agree, the suicidal guy was holding up traffic for five hours, when he could have just jumped off a building or hung himself without being a nuisance

I think it's pretty funny (I'm a bad, bad man...), yet the guy who pushed him is a bit of a wanker. He should get done for attempted murder, but I agree that it's still pretty damn funny :)

I wonder if the guy that pushed him gets executed? The Chinese like doing that!

Am I the only one who feels sympathetic for the guy? He was standing there for 5 hours so he was obviously having second thoughts about it and might not have gone through with it, then some **** comes up and pushes you off and you're stuck with spine injuries. It's attempted murder really.

What's quite ironic is that the guy held up traffick while yelling he'd kill himself, yet didn't. Then a pedestrian shows up and does the job for him :p

Of course I have sympathy for people who are pushed to the brink of wanting to kill themselves, but there's a difference between an actual attempt and a cry for attention/help. If you're REALLY going to kill yourself you do it quickly, and quietly because you don't want anyone to stop you. You can make it big to make a statement, but again speed is the key. If he was holding up traffic for 5 hours it seems like he was more the cry for help scenario.

I think the absurdity of it is what makes it funny.

That is great. Thank you for making my day a little brighter. I'd pay the pusher five bucks for that...especially if I was in the traffic caused by the "jumper"
