The Ace Combat series probably has the best cutscenes of any video game. (Kane from C&C making speeches notwithstanding).

I've three videos from two of the games in the spoiler. First one is just a lead in to the second. The second which jerks some tears.
But that third one... To build your own tomb...

These games. Storytelling at it's finest.

Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War

Ace Combat Zero: the Belkan War

And the Belkan's sealed their own tomb. Declaring the land to the north as The Holy Land of Belka. How they could condem their own nation, their own people to isolation... one has to wonder that... are there other demon's than just Razgriz in this world.

2023 - Tiger Sora's reflection on the 1995 Belkan War.

I'll confess, I've never come close to crying for a game. I just don't cry much in general. But two moments that caught me off-guard were:

Red Dead Redemption's ending.

DE:HR "Thanks, spy boy".

All you need to know.

The closest I came to misting up during a game was during the final missions of ME3. That last stand preparing the missiles and that final charge through molten metal reaper beams really got me emotionally high. Last stands really get me going. I wanted to cry at the badassery and the sacrifice the characters were making. I felt their fear, sadness, anxiety, etc. Closest I ever came to misting up.

Despite my gender making "manly tears" kinda impossible, I've still got a good answer to this question.

Note: I am usually infamously difficult to make cry: I don't cry during movies, games, books, anything.

But Lost Odyssey. Man. Particularly...

When Kaim's daughter dies. Mostly because of the little kids' reaction. I was playing through this part a little less than a month after my father had died, so it hit me hard.
Any gender can have "manly tears", they just have to completely remove all emotion from the face, have some kind of natural hostility in the eyes, and have the tears stream out unnoticed by the tear streamer. :D :p

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. If you can make it through that whole game and not tear up at some point, you have no soul.

Never really got teary from video games, but some moments did kill my soul on the inside.

The end of Halo: Reach i hated because I cant stand being vulnerable like that.
Oddly I found the end of Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time to hit my feels.
The end of Sly 3 did kinda make me feel like crap though I havent played it in a long time
End of Bastion. If you left Zulf you just cheated yourself out of one of the most powerful scenes in games.

Also not of video games but the season 3 finale of Breaking Bad made me feel like shit.

The Love Lost ending of Shattered Memories. The powerful monologue with the solemn piano piece carrying it as the mystery plays out makes it one of my favorite bittersweet endings ever.

The hallway conversation near the end of Silent hill 2 got to me as well. It was like the depressive culmination of all the subtle build-up surrounding certain aspects of James' and his wife's relationship.

Deadly Premonition even had its moments surprisingly. Some of the outcomes were downright tragic; though it was probably the little tidbit after the credits that resounded with me.

Spec Ops: The Line. So many moments. When you are on your way to that mob and listening to the radio chatter. And then when you finally get there. Oh man...
That was a brilliant scene in that it succeeded in making me respond irrationally. One moment you're powerless to do anything, and then before recovering from what happened you have to make a choice.
I didn't opt for a peaceful one..

I've never actually cried, but I got a little choked up at To The Moon and The Walking Dead. Both of them are great stories and can tug at the heartstrings pretty well.

I seem to be for the most part incapable of tears. I can feel sad, sickly sad, but I don't cry. Its not because I try not to I just don't seem to be physically capable of it for some reason.

Halo 4 did, even though I'd already had the ending spoiled by tehz internetz shortly before. It didn't make the last scenes any less emotional. Also, Katawa Shoujo, in Emi's route and Hanako's route - that's a feeling I'm striving for as I write my Hanako POV retelling as well...

I never cried, but I was shocked at many events.

I came close at...(Major Spoiler Alert)
Ace's death
Hit me like a ton of bricks! It was so well done!

Other games like Final Fantasy, Persona and many others evoked emotion from me and don't get me started on some anime/manga!
More like Episode 548 (or 448, rewatching since I caught up and I'm halfway through CP9, Franky vs Fukurou, one of my favourite fights in the whole series!), I clicked that wondering what was so special about that episode, good thing I knew about
Ace's death at the hand of Akainu
. It is a genuinely sad moment and the way it's executed and built up to did have me shedding a few manly tears.
I really do dislike Akainu a lot, though I do think that at that point in the story had Sengoku not held Garp down he most certainly would have killed Akainu. We all know that Garp is somewhere around Whitebeard in terms of raw power after all. That said Shanks stopped him single-handedly.

Also, Laboon and Brook makes me sad.
Fixed :p

Garp and Gol D Rodger almost killed each other constantly, I wish they would show more of Garp to be honest, his true strength hasn't been seen. I also nearly shed manly tears when Garp found Luffy and Aces foster parent (A mountain bandit) who is devastated and angry at Garp for not being able to prevent Aces Death, believing he chose his job over his family (They are not related, but they were just as close)

I also nearly shed manly tears while playing Lost Odyssey...anyone who has ever played the game will know how that game hits you in the feels...
Good on the fix :p could be a devastating spoiler otherwise or I wouldn't have pointed it out.

Yeah exactly, and it's heavily implied that Garp usually won and Roger got lucky, and we have seen Garp fight the first division commander Marco, a man on par with the admirals in strength, and the result was Garp striking him down with one blow. I really would love to see Garp more, he's hilarious for a start and monstrously powerful, but I can't help but feel he's gonna get killed off at some point, perhaps by the Kidd pirates or something, who I think are gonna become major antagonists. I also fear that Shanks could end up dying whenever they actually show him having a real fight, which would be a shame, I mean who doesn't wanna see Shanks kick some ass?

Edit: Done derped my spoiler tag, fixed now, hope I didn't spoil anyone.
I hope Garp doesn't die, he was hilarious when introduced in Water 7! I hope Eustass Kidd and the supernovas don't become enemies, most of them are kick-ass! About Shanks, he is one of the strongest pirates in the world and his rew are legendary (Admiral Kizaru stopped in his tracks when Beckman told him to stop) I hope Luffy meets shanks again soon. I (think) am current on the latest story arc (The Punk Hazard one) and I must say, the story is cosmic (Not up to date yet) but it only makes me love Trafalgar Law even more!
Seriously, if I didn't have Happy (The cat in my avatar) as my main avatar, it would definitely be Trafalgar Law as my avatar! He gives bad-ass a new meaning!
He was indeed hilarious in Water 7, I'm also hoping Dragon comes into the story soonish, and I do hope that the whole storm thing isn't a devil fruit power and he can just break the weather with his haki. Yeah, Shanks is definately a badass ************, stopped Akainu with no effort as well. I do like the supernovas a lot, especially Kid and Law, I'm not into punk hazard yet as I've been watching the anime and declining myself reading ahead of the anime, though I'm one of those people that goes on wikis and spoilers themselves quite a lot.

I know that a few of the supernovas are proposing some kind of alliance, I think the Kid pirates proposed alliances with themselves, Hawkins and Apoo, and maybe another one that I don't remember. I could see Law being a seriously big player in the future though and I think his power is awesome stuff. Though in terms of sheer bad-assery Zoro is top among the supernova, cut Hody Jones down with one blow, beats some prick somewhere in punk hazard (don't know who, read it on the wiki and can't recall) by just looking at him, tried to outright murder a celestial dragon because the guy was a prick, and so on.

I think we can be certain that of the Supernova Luffy is the strongest, and definately has the least fear of any of them. Heading straight for the most dangerous islands in the new world, declaring war on Big Mam, declaring war on the world government, enies lobby, impel down, etc. But then he's the protagonist.

I also like Magellan a lot, find that guy hilarious, and I love how when he met blackbeard the first time all he had to say was "I assume you're blackbeard, i don't have time to deal with you" and promptly buried them in poison and left them to die.

the ending to Batman Arkham city.
i think this was heart breaking for me because it was the Mark Hamill joker, which for the record was the first ever cartoon character that i called fun. i remember watching the animated batman series as a kid almost in love with the psychopathic mass murdering make up wearing bastard. he was what made me the gigantic batman geek i am today. i actually dressed up as him for Halloween last night (as the Hamill joker not the ledger joker. big difference).
i loved him. may he rest in peace...in hell

Many games, series and movies have made me blue, yet only one has made me cry: Final Fantasy X. The ending of the game, to be precise. The scene itself, the context, the music, they all made me drop a tear. A single one, yes, but nevertheless.

And it happened six times, so yeah, for me it is pretty emotional scene.

P.S. Also, screen version of the Green Mile. The death of John Coffee was really sad.

Well you kinda did. Probably best to spoiler tag that or at the very least, don't go 'i don't think i will be spoiling anything' straight into a spoiler.

ohhh. Sorry. Will do but that. Also the story isn't completely spoiled for you there is still a ton of great side stories and it's so packed with other mini endings inside the main story that it's still plenty of shock twists during the game. you'll still be able to enjoy it (yes I am just trying to patch up my mistakes and give you some compensation for spoiling the ending but the mid story is really good and you?ll still love the last scene)

Metal Gear Solid 3's ending. Which was surprising to me since I normally hate MG's plot but 3's just captured me for some reason.
Halo Reach's ending. It was a combination of what was going on, the music, and realizing that was Bungie's last Halo game.
Pokemon: Explorers of Time's ending. Goddamn it Pokemon games aren't supposed to make me sad.
