Man's greatest enemy is Man. Because what other animal goes to war against itself, kills others for the sheer pleasure of it, and takes pride in the suffering of others of it's kind? Only humans. We claim to be better than animals, but people too often forget that we are in fact much worse...
Actually many many predators enjoy killing. Why do you think your well fed cat keeps killing birds and mice, leaving the bodies to rot? Also many pack animals have also demonstrated themselves capable of bullying and enjoying the suffering of their own kind as you put it, such a baboons.

OT: I'd say disease, probably the greatest takers of human life of anything.

Women?

The correct answer is spiders, developing toxins and nets, making alliances with the octopii. Even in countries where they haven't been able to develop poison they use kamikaze, climb into your throat and choke you in the middle of the night tactics. Fuckers be determined.

Boredom.

I dare you to tell me otherwise.
LOL wont argue.
OT: probably greed? if people didnt constantly want more than a lot of conflict wouldnt exist. Granted without greed nobody would have any desire to do anything worthwhile, but thats getting a bit philosophical =D

Ignorance.

Ignorance leads to fear. Fear leads to conflict. Conflict leads to violence.

Also, ignorance of the universe. I respect everyone's right to believe what they want to believe, but I consider organised religion to be the greatest restriction on society EVER. Medical technology in Europe was held back a thousand years because the church considered the work of Galen and Hippocrates to be irrefutable. It is only since secularism has taken hold that scientific and medical breakthroughs have been discovered.

Extreme nationalism. Faced with a population of 6.5 billion and growing, a combined effort on everyone's behalf could no longer provide the essentials to everyone... But they could certainly come close.

Curses, I am foiled again by such a small flaw in my panic/evil plan.

Chimps and to a lesser degree Baboons. Chimps have been observed eradicating other groups of chimps and even enjoying the prolonged torture of some of them.
Dolphins too have been observed to attack others of their kind for no apparent reason other than the thrill of it.

To be boring i'd say it's our worlds dependence on oil. But then again i think that anti-biotic resistant strain of an airborne bacteria could do some serious damage.
Also the growing influx of stupid people is a worrying thought.
I'm not tooooooooooo worried about aliens because humans have been trying to kill each other since the beginning and we've gotten pretty good at it. If aliens came to earth they may not have that nature and could have focused there knowledge on other things.

Sheesh, if we humans wont destroy ourselves by traditional means, in the end we will be wasted by the superbacterias, thanks to our insane usage of pills and antibiotics for just about anything.
