Zynga? Really? After all the stuff they said and scammed people, somebody still considers them developers?

Zynga again? So much for any notions of respectability.
I fixed it for you, nyek nyek nyek.
We've been over this:
Zynga is an ass pimple: Unpleasant, but harmless.
Valve is a cancer: A part of the body that has become corrupt and is killing it from within. You might not even realize what's happening until it's too late.
You know what? I'll be straight with you: I'm hopped up on caffine abd bubblgum and right now I'm PO'd over the Xbox version of HL2, so I'm more than willing to hear what you have to say on the matter. If you have a moment, would you like to spell out your feelings on Valve, and why exactly they suck so much? I'm serious--I'd really love to hear what you have to say.
It's pretty basic: They have bad ideas and are successful. The entertainment industry is an inherently uncreative place. Media is a giant game of follow the leader, and whatever ideas start selling make their way across pretty much everything, corrupting the medium from within. Like a cancer almost.

Huh. That is actually a pretty good comparison. But shouldn't you be disgusted by everyone who toes their line, rather than Valve themselves? After all, if their games are indeed bad, they'd have closed shop years ago--is there anything in particular that springs to mind when you say that?

Not Zynga!!!! I thought we got rid of them last year!!!!!
I thought so too.

I don't know who they will be facing this year in round one, but we be better back whoever facing Zynga as awesomely as we backed Valve against Zynga last year.

It will probably be a mistake, but when I make my bracket, I will put that Zynga goes out in the first round(as they rightfully should).

Last year, out to the 9 wrong marks on my bracket, Zynga was responsible for 4 of them.

I just hope it doesn't take as much to take them down this year as it took last year. We had to call in just about every gamer, people that hate Valve but hate Zynga more, and parts of the Zynga fan base that turned against them because they were getting tired of Zynga spamming them to vote so they did the opposite of what Zynga wanted.

So many people get that wrong. It's even worse when they think ZeniMax-owned companies are partially influenced by BGS... :S

.
Yeah... how dare anyone not know that. That's like... household knowledge!

C'mon man, be nice. Bethesda develops games so in most peoples' eyes they count as a dev.

I really like Bungie to go far this year, but if that doesn't work I'm backing BioWare, Valve, Epic, and Visceral. Bungie all the way!

In terms of guilt levels, Valve's fanbase is aboot the level of a junkie. Valve is morally comparable to a dealer.
Lots of bad games sell well: Pokeymanns, WoWcraft, Metal Cog, Quick Time Event the Movie (Heavy Rain, I like to think most of them don't require explanation though)

Valve is responsible for the surge of games aboot power-armored non-characters, fighting generically evil aliens, using generic guns and one shoehorned in gimmick weapon, assisted by a minority sidekick, and shoehorned in love interest (Valve gets bonus points for making them the same character, making her incredibly annoying, and making her the love interest of a character who we have no in game evidence against being a disembodied pair of hands) to take back the grey-brown wasteland for humanity.

The problem with every thing you said is that the first part regarding game play was popularized by Doom, not Half-Life. The only thing Half-Life popularized was the idea of cut scenes where the player still has control and a mute protagonist, and even those two never exactly broke the mold.

The points regarding plot aren't really original to Half Life either. I could make the same notion about Final Fantasy 7, and lets face it, Barret played a much larger role in the game then Barney ever did. He was included simply as a nod to Blue Shift. The only reason for Alyx Vance's inclusion in the game is because playing a mute for 7 hours can get a little boring and her inclusion is simply to bring a voice to the game and to guide the player.

But honestly, this entire conversation is pointless as both of our opinions are subjective and original to only us. You didn't like Half-Life or Valve in general? Fine, I'm not gonna hassle you about it. Just go vote for someone else. I'm personally waiting to see the brackets before I make my final decision and even then, I'm probably gonna put all my support out for Bioware, Bethesda and Rockstar.

Fuck yeah, I know who I'm voting for this year. Well, who I'll be voting for if I can be arsed to vote this year, unlike last year where I voted in the first and second rounds and then gave up out of sheer not-giving-a-fuck-about-the-whole-thing. Anywho, go team, go! I think we're in with a decent chance this year:

Well, I know who I'm voting for:
Bethesda, Mojang, Treyarch and VALVe.
Why those 4?
Bethesda: For announcing Skyrim, and the fact all their games have been good so far, apart from major bugs/glitches
Mojang: MINECRAFT. Need I say more?
Treyarch: For making a good SP for a CoD game
VALVe: TF2, Half-Life, you know the set-list.

Quake? Some people out there think that Bethesda made Quake!? THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH SOME PEOPLE?

Well, I already know the one developer I will be backing all the way, no matter what.
If it comes down to that one facing another of my favourites, well, easy choice, Mojang will easily be the choice I make >.>
Completely off-topic, but I just noticed the shiny blue text and italicised text. When did this happen?

Wait, Italic text? What? Where?
Oh, there >.> Sub-title thingy >.>
It happened... sometime last night. Around 12-13 hours ago, perhaps.

Uh-huh, fair enough then.

And eh, it's something that is rather difficult to see outside of online. Probably has something to do with it having terrible sales outside Japan, so they pretty much scrapped it so far as western releases go. Can still find copies of it available on eBay and the like, and it's easy to find streaming sites that have it to watch, but as far as actual shops go, it's pretty rare.

Let's see..... Platinum Games, Visceral Games, Volition, DICE and even Irrational.

Great lineup, I'm looking forward to voting.

This is actually going to be a harder year for me. Blizzard is still my favorite, but this year they've done less for me than ever before. Meanwhile Bethesda and especially Bioware have yet again proven how awesome they are to me. So many other good names on the list too, but probably the one that's stolen away the majority of my time... PopCap! Hmmm... going to be a fun vote for sure.

Edit: Oh, and add WET to that list. It sucks that two totally different companies have the same name...
Yeah you've got a point there. I guess if a member going to be voting for their favorite dev, most of the time they'll know which games they develop and which ones they publish from third parties. There will be the odd few exceptions, of course.

Anyway, I can't imagine anyone voting for Bethesda based on their 3rd party releases... they've all been rather underwhelming IMO.

Hopefully Relic pulls over Bioware this year, GO RELIC!
