Mario's best game?

Mario has starred in more games than I can count covering a broad range of genres ranging from standard platformers, puzzle games, sports games, kart racing, typing, RPGs, and more. It is very difficult for me to decide what my all time favorite is.

Out of all the Mario games you have played what is your all time favorite?

I'd say it's a tie between Paper Mario and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (he's in it, it counts!) for me.

I'm also that one person who loves Mario Tennis.

Aye, Yoshi's Island is a masterpiece. I can't think of a side scroller with better gameplay. I really need to play Paper Mario which I believe is on Wii VC. I absolutely adored Thousand Year Door. I had a good time with Super Paper Mario as well, but that might be the weak link in that series.

Speaking of Mario RPGs I really loved Superstar Saga, but I have yet to play Partners in Time or Bowser's Inside Story.

As far as sports games are concerned I had a blast with Mario Golf Advance. Camelot did an excellent job on that one. The reason I like that one so much is due to the leveling system and stats development. Heck, I don't even like golf but I could not put that game down.

Mario Party 3.

That game was fun on a bun. I can't recall having more fun with a game than the times I played that game with friends.

Mario Kart Double Dash on the Gamecube - because I loved that game so much.

There is a disturbing lack of Super Mario Sunshine here...>.>
I also loved the DS and Wii versions of Super Mario Bros.

EDIT:If we're counting Luigi games I'm in for Luigi's Mansion. The sounds were superb, there was enough there which I wasn't counting on, and a lot of background stuff.

Super Mario World was my first game that I remember playing so besides being awesome, it holds a special place in my heart...As far as the RPG's go, Thousand Year Door is a shoe-in for the best imo (although I'm playing through Bowser's Inside Story now and its REALLY good)...And For the Karts, I'd have to go with Double Dash...

Probably Super Mario World, but Super Mario Galaxy was kind of a revelation. Thousand Year Door would round out my top 3.


SMG2, on the other hand...I can't even bring myself to finish it. Don't know why. Just not as fun.

A coin toss between the Thousand Year Door, and Super Mario Bros 3.

In fact, i could say that most of the Mario games I've played have been class, even most of the sports games like Mario Golf Toadstool Tour. However, i couldn't get on with the first Paper Mario, and all of the Mario Parties will always be kinda meh to me.

God this is a tough one.

I guess. PERSONALLY my favorite Mario game is Paper Mario: TTYD. Took everything from the first one and improved on it. Yoshi's Island is a VERY close second.

Again, this is incredibly difficult, because every main series Mario game, particularly 3, SMW 1 and 2, and Super Mario 64 are some of my best gaming experiences. Even Sunshine, Galaxy, and Galaxy 2 are awesome fun, if not up to the same level as their predecessors for me.

And then there's the original Mario RPG... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

For me it's either Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door or Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. I love me some RPGs and these two are easily some of the best that I've ever played.

If we're going for more standard Mario games though, I have to give some love to Super Mario Sunshine. That game was fantastic, and it doesn't get the praise it deserves.

Really looking forward to Paper Mario 3D and Super Mario 3D Land too ^^

Super Mario Galaxy is probably the 3D Mario game that most blew me away.

But I've also been partial to the Mario RPGs...

I've not played Galaxy 2, but insert the first in it's place and this is exactly my thoughts.

Super Mario World and Super Mario RPG are tied for me. Love those games to death.

I liked Super Mario Bros. 3 too of course but World resonated with me more.

Outside of those, I loved the original Mario Kart.
