in about one week from today (even less if your in NA) mvc3 will finally be landing. i think i can speak for most people who love fighting games when i say that its been a bloody long wait indeed, 10 long years, and the last year being at least as long as any two that came before! but now that the day is finally here id like to ask, what do you think of how the games shaped up? do you love it? are you of the oh no its tvc2 crowd? are you of the oh no its broken like mvc2 crowd? what do you think of the roster? anyone your pleased to see, anyone unfairly forgotten? everyone and their grannys formed an opinion on it and im sure the escapist community is no different!

WHERE YA CURLEY MUSTACHE AT?

First off, I mean no offense when I urge you to write properly. My eyes usually glaze over that sort of text; I get the subconscious feeling that a post not worth typing properly isn't worth posting.

Second, I haven't actually played it yet so I can't offer any evidence of its quality beyond simple observation. That said, I do have enough faith in its quality to justify my preorder.

This may very well be the best roster of any fighting game I've ever seen. Never before have I wanted to use nearly half of the entire cast of a fighting game. I squee-d with fanboy glee at the inclusion of Dante when that was announced. I am a little disappointed at the inclusion of Storm, Magneto, and Sentinel (for obvious reasons), but my sheer joy at the sight of Dante, Trish, Deadpool, and Wesker have outweighed that worry. Now all that remains to be seen is if Galactus doesn't destroy that joy of mine, seeing as he's shaping up to be a Grade S Bullshit Magician.

As for the controls being more similar to Tatsunoko than Marvel 2, I'm actually very pleased with that. Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 was pretty fun, but Tatsunoko is what got me into the series in the first place, and for damn good reason. It was simple to learn but very deep and complex at its core. I played the hell out of it in spite of the fact that I only liked a few of the characters. It was to the Vs. series what Street Fighter III was to the Street Fighter series (for me, anyway). This may very well be my Vs. equivalent of Street Fighter IV.

On the topic of curly mustaches, I just had an idea for DLC. How about downloadable commentary courtesy of Yipes? Instead of getting the game's commentator exclaim what round we're about to fight and how stylish our arial combos are, we get Yipes being himself.

WHAT?
Explain those obvious reasons to me. Some of the most prominent characters for Marvel's universe are in a game called MARVEL vs Capcom and you're disappointed?

...Are you unaware of their status in Marvel vs. Capcom 2? Unless they've been seriously reworked, which doesn't seem to be the case, there's going to be a lot of Magneto/Storm/Sentinel teams online for entirely the wrong reasons.

Ya, sure they are legit characters in the universe, but if you payed attention to the MvC2 scene at all, they were pretty much THE team to play as because they were so broken with all of their combos and infinites and what not.

-Zen- said:
They weren't massively reworked, but they were changed up enough (from what I heard at least) so that they aren't nearly as OP as they were in the last game. Still very viable, but not super broken or what not.

Haven't played it yet but i know its gonna be awesome.

Now i just gotta figure out mu main team....

Its funny because people have been playing this game for days due to stores in certain states releasing it early.
As usual.

no offense taken, i am well aware that my spelling and punctuation is appalling to say the least, thank you for being civil and i can assure you ive been working on it for a long time to get it up even to what it is, and i promise that the poor quality of the post is not down to any laziness on my part.

and yes it is probably the best roster of all time, try not to fall into the storm, mags sent trap in thinking that there gonna ruin the game. people often say that they were so broken they ruined mvc2, but that is simply not the case, the fact that the characters were so deep and powerful and had so many options was one of the main reasons that mvc2 lasted as long as it did. the only real "cheap" character out of mvc2 would likely be cable, he was much easier to play then the rest of the big four and was such a pain! The big three also appear to have been nerfed to shit as well which should please some people....
personally im hoping everybody in the game turns out to be as broken as them, and judging by what ive seen and heard from people who've played it that may well be the case!
as for yipes commentary, GET THAT SHIT TO CAPCOM NOW!

I just can't believe they put in Sentinal over Juggernaut.

Next time they just need to let the fans decide. Of course then it'd just be X-men vs Capcom.

Characters I hope they add in DLC:
Juggernaut
Punisher
Dr. Strange
Marrow or Spiral (I don't care which one)
Blade
Ghost Rider

In all seriousness it is pretty much "Mostly X-men but still some Marvel vs Capcom 3"

They have already said that Blade, Ghost Rider, and the Punisher aren't going to be in the game at all (except for a Punisher alt skin for Captain America). As for anyone else, who knows, they already said that Frank West and Phoenix Wright might make their way back in.

I went to my local Gamestop today and the girl working there knew I had the collector's edition pre-ordered... show she showed me the Collector's Edition because they got it in. It looks so sexy.

well sent is a massive character in the vs series so.....
juggernaut was fun too though, his four hit touch of death combos always made me laugh at how ridicules they were.
and yeah strange would be great for dlc, especially since shuma is back!

Wait, they were actually going to put Phoenix Wright in the game? I thought that was a joke. In every game I played from that series it seemed like he was always getting roughed up by someone or something. I could see a him as support though.

Anyway, I'm kinda looking forward to the game. I just feel like my enjoyment would be limited since my reflexes in fighting games have only gotten shittier over time.

Honestly... If the roster included Ken thenI would love it. I'd still have some complaints but nothing major. However, Ken is not in it, Ken, that guy who on par with Ryu is street fighter, capcoms most famous fighting game, the MAIN CHARACTER is NOT in the game!! I don;t care what their reasons were! I like Ken, I have ALWAYS chose him over Ryu ever since I played a Street Fighter game and any opthers they were included in... He better be DLC god dammit >.<

If anything Magneto, Sentinel and Storm are what helped Marvel 2 to greatness. It's better to have the most nuanced and unique characters at the top than having every other guy play with Ryu and Ken on their team. The people who use low tiers are not heroes. They're just picking more boring and restricting chacters because they are a fanboy of them.

Don't worry about missing characters. Capcom will put them back in...as DLC. :/ The worst part is, I'll probably buy it.

Me too. Especially if they put in Gambit as DLC...

OT: Hopefully they managed to actually balance Magneto, Storm, and Sentinel. Those dudes were so hilariously OP in MVC2 it was... well hilarious. If your not on the receiving end.

Also Cable, but he's not here, which is good.

Phoenix Wright was going to be in Tatsunoko vs Capcom but got cut at the last minute due to technical problems with his moves, but Niitsuma(MvC3 dev) has said if they have the chance he has a high probability ending up as MvC3 DLC
