I have only a layman's knowledge of the comic multiverse, but even I know that Superman is D.C's most powerful character and that in general Aquaman is it most disliked. Feel free to correct me if I'm misinformed. That aside, it got me thinking, who are Marvel's equivalents? Therefore,

1: Who is the most powerful character in Marvel's creation?

2: Who is the most disliked character in Marvel's creation?

1 would easily be Wolverine. The writers have written him down in many situations, but if you've played X-Men Origins: Wolverine, you know that ************ is unstoppable.

2... After Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, probably Deadpool.

I also have a passing knowledge of comic books, but I'm not sure Aquaman is the most hated DC character.

1. One-Above-All, fairly obvious given the name really, if you're only counting protaganists, Thor, by far, he is a god.

2. By the fans or in-universe?

1. Probably Thor or Hulk, but we can't forget obvious Superman-rip off Sentry.

2. Most despised? I don't think Aquaman has a Marvel equivelent in terms of how generally disliked he is. Namor is a similar CHARACTER, but he doesn't really have any vocal hatedom. I guess the closest I can think of is Howard the Duck. Hardly anyone has heard of him, and the ones who have think he belongs to George Lucas.

1. Maybe the Sentry since he is just a rip off version of Superman that is until he bite the dust in the Seige storyline.

2. I don't know maybe Cyclop?

Captain Marvel despite the name is DC. I would have to say Hyperion is Marvel's Superman.

Straight from wikipedia: All versions of Hyperion possess superhuman strength, stamina, speed, flight, and durability. Each also has greatly enhanced sensory perceptions, which extends to being able to perceive the entire electromagnetic spectrumand "atomic vision" - the equivalent of heat vision. The heroic Earth-712 version of Hyperion also possesses the ability to use cosmic energy to augment his life force granting him great longevity and regenerative abilities, courtesy of his Eternal heritage. The Earth-712 Hyperion's powers and vitality are diminished when he is exposed to argonite radiation. The Earth-712 Hyperion also has a college degree in journalism.

For two I would like to point out that Aquaman is not hated by the DC community too much. Its generally people who only know the one of his powers, talking to fish. He also has enough popularity to have his own comic, which is one of the better new 52 and he is actually pretty cool in it.

But the most hated Marvel hero that still makes appearances? Jubilee or Speedball after he became Penance.

Egg on your face. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Marvel_(Marvel_Comics)]

I can't believe no one has mentioned Dazzler or Squirrel Girl yet.

1. Discounting the One Above All and beings like the Beyonder. Sticking just to superheroes, hmm. Classically Thor is Superman's counterpart, though Captain America has a similar moral and inspirational role to Supes.

Sentry was pretty powerful (near Dr Manhattan levels towards the end), but kind of a crummy character. There's lots of powerful beings like Silver Surfer, Green-Scar Hulk, Nova, Blue Marvel, Quasar etc. There's Gladiator and Hyperion who are basically Superman expies.

There's character who are extremely powerful but for magical means like Dr Strange and Scarlet Witch (though her powers keep getting changed).

There's powerful telekinetics/telepaths like Jean Grey with the phoenix force, Cable (during his burnt offering arc) and X-man.

2. Namor is the straight up analogue to Aquaman, but as for disliked characters, well that's hard, depends it's in universe or out. Red Hulk was pretty unpopular with comics fans, in universe D-Man is an absolute joke.

Fair enough but doing some research his powers don't really fit the bill as the same as Superman so it is more likely that he was thinking of Captin Marvel DC version.

For number 1, I'd probably say Wolverine.

I was desperately trying to come up with my answer for number two, but gigastrike hit the nail on the head!

2: Jubilee, definitely Jubilee.
[small]I find it interesting that both of the answers are Xmen. [/small]

Marvel's can be answered kinda with one;

Iron Man.

He was in charge of SHIELD and then promptly tried to start a secret war, then turned the whole organization over to the Green Goblin.

He was my personal favourite for decades. Now I need a new hero.

Never read D.C much, Aquaman never really struck me as hated per se. Just not as useful as some of the other D.C heroes have been.

no, he didn't hand it over to GG, "WE" did.
as in people standard people called for iron man to be thrown out of sheild, and for THE GREEN MOTHERFUCKING GOBLIN, a man who is both the joker crazy and lex luthor smart/rich at the same time, in charge of a global army, an army of super-villians and half the super heroes including Bob, aka the sentry aka superman but a constant emotional train-wreck and rampant killer.

so yeah, fuck the human populace of the 616 universe(the standard one since WW2), they're too fucking dumb to live.

Not trying to be a jerk. I just actually like this video lol

I would actually say Daredevil is the Aquaman. His "power" is kind of a joke, he's not all that well respected, etc. etc.

Superman is probably Thor. More evidence by Stan Lee actually making a minor comparison between the two when he did The Simpson's DVD commentary.

Though actually, I might say Ms. Marvel. In the Marvel Ultimate alliance game, she's (I think) the only character who can fly + super strength + other such powers.

She's kinda like Superman, and she's much more popular and awesome than Captain Marvel.
