2: Who is the most disliked character in Marvel's creation?

I can't even remember his name and I doubt most here would remember him or are simply to young to remember him. But he was part of the X-Men and he was this annoying and useless character it made no sense why they would ever bring him out and into danger. Basically his power is being able to understand any language. He was so unpopular and so useless that Marvel killed him, I know that sounds like nothing as heroes die but it is the way he died, it wasn't a dramatic scene he was simply shot by a common normal person. They didn't even bother to make his death one with any meaning behind it or even for shock value. The X-Men just moved on without care too. I think he "wins" this title sure he may not be remembered much today but when a character is that bad they killed him off and swept him under the rug like trash to be forgotten.
Cypher, that's his name, came back in Necrosha. But he's a lot better than in the 80's innately understand any language means he can read body language and even predict enemies attacks. He can tell from tone if people are lying or distressed etc. He can hack basically any computer, stuff like that.

1. Could be a lot of different characters throughout the years, the standby is Thor but at times it has been guys like The Sentry and even Doctor Doom became stronger than the gods for a little while during the Secret Wars. So it changes but Thor is the standard.

2. The most hated is a bit harder, I hear some saying Deadpool and that may be accurate in the universe, the characters don't really like him. A lot of hardcore fans don't like him either. Hated overall by the community who reads the books? I'm really not sure honestly, I think it changes depending on how certain runs are going.

If I recall, there was that one Gambit plot line- an alternate reality version was going around, trying to kill all of his equivalents because they almost always end up accidentally destroying Earth. So, I'd say that Gambit is a contender.

Still, Wolverine can't die. So, that's a plus for him. If Shadowcat didn't have that adamantium weakness, she'd also be pretty much top tier. Quicksilver is also pretty overpowered, just like the DC speedsters- he managed to bite close to every superhero on the planet in minutes, or seconds, in Marvel Zombies.

Hulk once ripped Wolverine apart. That said, Wolverine was like "Whatever, man" and was fine, so that's all good. Oh, oh, and Deadpool has that plot shield

Actually... That reminds me of Squirrel Girl, who I think is canonically the most powerful of all.

No idea about the second question, though. I personally like most all of Marvel's characters.

Well powerwise there are several Marvel characters that are similar to Superman but personality wise i'd Say Captin America.

As for Aquaman. Namor is almost the exact same character.

I know alot of people have said other characters but the strongest is easily either Galactus or Scarlet Witch. Galactus travels the universe eating planets and Scarlet witch can alter reality making anyone or anything change or even not exist to her whim.

Superman's not the most powerful being the DC universe. Darkseid, Imperiex, AM, or Amazos is probably the most powerful. Easily, all these are more powerful than Superman.

I suppose that's excluding the fact that DC stated there is an 'Almighty God' in their universe.

Also, in the 'New 52,' Aquaman isn't so much of a useless doucheking this time around.

The most powerful is probably the Sentry, and to me Namor's a pretty massive douche.

Um
1: Galactus... Not the Superman, but in your topic you ask for a superman, but then the most powerful. I am sure Superman isn't the most powerful being in the DC universe? Anyways Galactus eats planets, but only the types with life on them :)

2: Gigantman/Ant Man aka Hank Pym gets a lot of bad rap. And well he did hit his wife and stuff. Personally I liked him in the Mighty Avengers, he was sort of bad ass, but most people hate him.

Yeah I can't stand when writers bring that up again and again. It got taken out of context, they move passed it, Janet forgave him but their relationship was never really the same, he went on to redeem himself as a hero, and then again but it never sticks. Mighty Avengers was fantastic. I'm kind of sad he went back to Giant Man in Avengers Academy.

Haven't read much of the Academy, but I agree Pym gets a bad rep, and seems to be the scape goat for a lot of writers.

It's pretty good, Pym isn't as badass as he is in Mighty (Scientist Supreme), but he's a good teacher, still the leader and all round smart guy, has a relatively stable relationship with Tigra (after they got over the whole the Pym that impregnated her was a skrull thing).

The best reference to the event was this one
Osborn: Still smacking around women?
Hank Pym: Still throwing them off bridges?

Yeah but the thing I hate about people bringing up the slap, aside Pym's whole mental competence, is that weakens Janet as a character to think of her as this battered wife, when she's a fantastic character, a founding avenger, who has lead the team in the past, a brilliant businesswoman/fashion design and truly one of earth's mightiest heroes.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Dazzler or Squirrel Girl yet.
That's because Dazzler is very unfairly lambasted. (42 issues of her own comic, two TPB, Movie rights, Took on Galactus...?), and Squirrel Girl is deliberately meant to be overpowered.

As for the OP

1) Most powerful character in Marvel - Human Form Beyonder (Secret Wars 2)
Non-human form - Eternity/Death
DC's equivalents would be Destiny, Destruction,Delirium,Desire,Despair and Dream.
2) Most disliked: Starfox (Psychic Date Rape Powers GO!)

Cypher - Doug Ramsey (Ooops, too late)

Otherwise it's a cross between Civil War Iron Man, or Reed Richards.

I always thought Sentry was the most hero character in the Marvel universe, other than that all I can think of is Thor.

In terms of most "hated", I wouldn't say Aquaman is hated, he's just treated like a bit of a joke. In which case, I'd say he's a bit like Moon Knight (although only from Bendis and Maleev's incarnation). Both are kind of self-aware of their characters.

Doug Ramsey was one of my favorite characters, from my all time favorite comic book (The New Mutants) and so I have to pick a few nits here. He wasn't a member of the X-Men. He was a student. He wasn't part of some front line combat team, tangling with the Brotherhood. His power was awesome, but it was difficult to write. It's not all 'pew pew' so a lot of people consider someone who can break any code and understand any language, including computer code useless. His death wasn't just some 'whoops he's dead, let's forget he ever existed' incident either. It was a pretty big deal in the comic. He died taking a bullet for the girl he loved. Pretty heroic if you ask me.

Most powerful Marvel Character? I'd say the Hulk.

Most hated by fans? Captain Marvel.

In response to a Deadpool comment, I don't find Deadpool that interesting. I've been over this before, but in short Deadpool is just a funny parody, nothing more. Deathstroke however is fucking badass mother fucker.

The Hulk, nearly unlimited strength, madder he gets the stronger he becomes.
As her nearly beat into submission every other Hero in World war Hulk.
And to the person who said Thor, Hulk beat Thor to near death quite a few times.
Incorrect!!

Dr.Strange defeated Hulk with great ease. Dr.Doom has at times been on par with Dr.Strange (They teamed up and defeated the devil...THE DEVIL...IN HELL).

However...

Squirrel Girl defeated Dr.Doom many a time and according to the Official Marvel Wiki website also has the highest power rating.

So Hulk is but one over rated character. I mean he couldn't take on Onslaught(another contender for 1) on his own he was working with all the other Marvel Heroes in the story arc.

1. Hulk, notice how he wasn't even around for the Invasion arc, because he would have ended it single handedly. Hell in his own arc, World War Hulk he beat up everybody and then he stopped himself!

2. I still haven't forgiven Iron Man for the crap he pulled during the Civil War.

...aaaand during WWHulk, Hulk broke his hands and put him in chains. We are not going by individual instances here. We are going by overall performance. Hulk has laid out entire gorups of heroes by himself on numerous occaisons.

There is no actual Devil in the Marvel Comics Universe 616, closest thing Marvel have is Mephisto. Satan was retcon out of the 616 universe.

Keep in mind Hulk laid out and beaten whole groups of Heros in World War Hulk, Dr Strange have to result using forbidden powers to try to stop the Hulk, and hulk just crushed his hands and bound him in chains.

Squirrel Girl? You know Squirrel Girl exist just to troll marvel comic readers. She is a joke character.

Onslaught, the combination of Xaiver and Magneto, which now no longer exist And a villian. Were talking about number 1 Hero here.

I do also want to point this out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onslaught_%28comics%29

When the HULK is able to destroy Onslaught's armor, however, the villain then exists as pure psionic energy. This results in many of the non-mutant superheroes sacrificing their lives by entering Onslaught's form, disrupting the villain from within and weakening it, enabling the X-Men to finally destroy Onslaught. In the aftermath of the battle, all the combatants are presumed dead except Franklin Richards, Nate Grey, Quicksilver, the Hulk (who was physically separated from his alter ego Bruce Banner during the fight), the Magneto clone known as Joseph, and the X-Men.

Hulk could not finish the job because he couldn't physically tear apart pure energy, but he did destroy Onslaught's physical form.

Awwww, poor Aquamen. Though like a few others, I can't say he's actually hated. I just keep hearing that he's kind of useless compared to some of the others in almost every situation, so sticking him in a team may have been a little silly. Well, maybe not useless, but come on, he's next to superman. Its a bad match up because he can't shine. So he's a running gag.

After all, he had enough fans to still keep going and have a gamecube title attributed to him. A terrible terrible game, but it was put foreward nonetheless.

I would say spiderman is Dc's superman. Not similar as characters, but what they represent. Each is a cultural icon that essentially started/carried each at the beginning. Even outside of the comic book world, there are not that many people who don't know these characters. Wolverine, while close, I don't think quite reaches the popularity of spiderman. But, thats just my opinion.

a hated character for marvel? Maybe the Impossible man? Though he's not popular I believe, so maybe just a relativly useless team character that would be better off alone? Ahhhhh... maybe ant man, though he's a scientist.... so the wasp? though she wouldn't really be better off alone... sorry for my ramble!
