Alright, when you put it that way it was a dumb choice, but Miranda says before you make the choice that you chould have someone with experience. I figured there's no-one with more experience than a 1000 year old Asari Justicar.
Experience leading a team!

It's like "Hey, Grunt's go years of Krogan ground wars imprinted in his brain, let's choose him to lead a starship fleet!"

She has experience, yet, just not the right kind.
I guess I should have thought this through more. I was sure I'd got it right afterwards though, since Miranda told me it was a good choice. Although I'm beggining to realise I should just discount anything she says during this mission.

Garrus and Miranda were going with me on the first section, and Jacob honestly never occured to me as a choice. I pretty much forgot about him for the majority of the game.

Is it possible that this thread is coming up again? The rules say that you shouldn't post in a thread where the last post was over 30 days ago, and I'm quite sure that the last "ME2 ending" thread was less than a month ago.
I used the search bar before starting this; it came up with several Mass Effect 2 threads, and a few were about the endings, but not in the same capacity or dealing with the same issue as this so I went ahead.

Now I know why I did not have Legion's complete loyalty, even though I did his mission - I sided with Tali when they had an argument, and I didn't use my Renegade score to regain his trust. Bad times.

Is it possible for someone to die while escorting the crew back to the Normandy? I mean that's half the reason I sent Jack - I wasn't going to send someone like Mordin who is just as capable in a fight as a psychologically damaged soldier. The other half of the reason was that I never used her.

I want to see these death cutscenes now, but I don't want to go through another playthrough only to lose the achievement...

To the online video repository!

Thank you, YouTube!

Next playthrough (the one which begins with me having destroyed the council) I'll try and keep everyone alive. I just wanted that damn achievement. But I'm selling Tali's dad's evidence to get cyber stuff for the humans.

Ninjasquirrel; Have I missed something? Who the hell is Zaeed?
If you give the Quarians the evidence against Tali's dad, you apparently fail her loyalty mission (just so you know)

Yeah, but if you do what she wants and refuse to give evidence, then the bastard one of the Admirals will send you a very smug email telling you what they found aboard the ship; with the technology Tali's dad created, not only will they be able to reclaim their homeworld, but will have access to a cybernetic army. If you had presented the evidence at court, it would have proved a human found it and they would be forced to share.

I can see this having serious ramifications in ME3.

Depends whether you are happy to sell your friend out for a few goodies, I guess :p
EDIT - Also I think Tali and Legion might be able to offer more if you can get them to work together, just saying...............
