Yea, a lot of the characters do have daddy issues. I was thinking they must have brought in some of the writers for Lost.

In order:

Legion
Mordin
Tali
Garrus
Grunt
Thane
Samara
Jacob
Miranda
Jack
Zaeed

Legion is by far my favorite character in the game, just because he's awesome. Mordin is #2 solely because of his Gilbert & Sullivan bit and his "No, I can't talk now" quotes. Tali's just awesome and the only character I can actually tolerate as a romance option. I'm far too lazy to go into details on any of the rest.

S'alright - I didn't scan anything, just rushed into the last mission earlier today. Somehow everyone survived, and I didn't have to witness the 'consequences'. I tried seeing what would happen if I did try another mission first after I'd completed it (went back a save). All I can say is:

Who's gonna feed my fish now?
MWHAHAHAHAHA...sorry, I shouldn't laugh, but... ;)

Poor fishies - they never get feed in my game regardless - damn AI

Incidentally Doesn't it seem like everyone in your team has parent issues (particularly father related)?

Jacob- My dad sucks and just spent ten years on a deserted planet with a drugged Harem.

Miranda- My father is over-controlling and trying to kidnap (or unkidnap?) my sister.

Thane- I'm an absentee father.

Tali- My father conducted unethical experiments which got me accused of treason.

Garrus- My father kept me from being a spectre (ME 1)

Samara- My children are crazy soul sucking monsters.

Grunt- My father didn't give me the right kind of guidance.

Shepard- Possibly an orphan depending on pre-service record.

I mean damn, I just got a feeling the writers at Bioware got daddy issues.
It was like that in the first game to.

Wrex - betrayed by his father so he killed him.
Garrus - Hated how his father forced him to play by the book.
Ashley - Grandfather first human to surrender to an alien (not her father, but on her father's side)
Liara - Never knew her father, which could have had unknown concequences on her character.
Tali - Father was head of Migrant Fleet leaders, which puts lots of pressure on her.
Kaiden - Don't remember learning about his family at all. So I guess he doesn't count.

Lol, damn...one of those things you never really notice until it's written out like that.
You know... this might explain why their whole crew is fine and dandy with gunning down tens of thousands of enemies without pause to reflect on what they have become XD

Story:

Like:

Jack, I liked seeing how Cerberus fucked up her head so badly, and going back and blowing her mind.

Mordin, His Loyalty mission gave me a lot more insight into certain, things, and he's just fun to talk to, I listened to him sing Model of a Scientist Solarian, atleast 5 times before I let it go, also akward safe sex talks.

Garrus, always fun to talk to, laughed when I heard " I had reach..." In the second context.

Dislike:

Miranda, I'm a tube baby, wa-wa-wa!

Jacob, I have daddy issues, damn.

Gameplay:

Like:

Thane and Tali complemented my soldier perfectly.

Dislike: Miranda, and Jacob felt pretty useless later on because of their limited firepower.

Incidentally Doesn't it seem like everyone in your team has parent issues (particularly father related)?

Jacob- My dad sucks and just spent ten years on a deserted planet with a drugged Harem.

Garrus is my all-time favorite. For everything. I never didn't have him on my team the second he was unlocked.

Also, I just landed on the Citadel with Garrus and Legion, and Legion started doing the robot and beatboxing. It was literally the most awesome thing ever.

I wasn't sure if I liked him or Tali more, as Tali was my second favorite in ME1 and throughout ME2, but now I have a new full-time squad member.

Least favorite is probably Jacob or Zaeed. Jacob because he didn't really have any character at all, and when he said "It's practically a suicide mission. I volunteer," I almost facepalmed because of how non-badass it was for him to say it. Zaeed also because of when he was talking about fighting the Blood Pack leader. Sounded like a huge douchebag.

And I just want to note that I liked the Illusive Man up until the part where he's talking about the Collector ship and says something like "those schematics will be invaluable." Except he doesn't say "schematics" like "skamatiks" or "skehmatiks", he says it like "skeematiks", and that alone made me blow up the ship. I was going to preserve it before then.

I like Tali and Garrus... *Cough* and legion *cough... Tali and Garrus are awesome because they are old friends, even though Garrus is morally questionable. I hate cerberus. Legion is a robot. End of story.

Jack is a walking cliche, but I didn't hate her. She's mildly irritating though and they could have done a lot more to counteract the cliches. Zaeed on the other hand, is just annoying. He has the depth of a grapefruit.

Jacob is very "nice", but totally dull. Grunt was mildly entertaining, but a little too generic. He lacks Wrex's charisma.

Samara was interesting, and had a vastly superior cleavage to Liara - should've been a romance option.

Tali was my favourite in ME1, and she still is in ME2. I like Miranda in combat, but personality wise, she's far too up herself. Garrus is awesome, always was.

I expected Thane to be cool, but I wish they'd made him slightly more unique in combat terms. Legion was surprisingly cool, and Mordin is my "surprise favourite" character. He gave me many laughs.

Overall, it comes down to who I want back in ME3. I doubt Tali will return as playable, and the same goes for Garrus - I'd be surprised if some characters other than Shepard featured in all 3 games.

I'd really love to see Legion come back - he didn't have enough time on screen IMO, and I'd be very pleased to see Mordin make a return. If Thane is still alive it'd be nice to have him too.

I honestly don't hate any of my squadmembers in the sequel.

Except Zaeed. Blah blah blah, I'm the ultimate badasss, blah blah blah, I'll kill anything that gets in my way, blah blah blah...the dev team could have done so many different things with his backstory and in terms of character development for him. You can't even have a full-fledged conversation with him on the Normandy, for Sovereign's sake!

As for my favorites, I used Garrus and Legion very frequently in my 2nd playthrough. In my first playthrough, I went with Garrus and Grunt most of the time. Tried to get Morinth both times, but she didn't want to play ball. Her loss. I was also fond of Mordin and Tali.

My least favourite character is easily Zaeed. There's just nothing redeeming about him. You can't even talk to him so there's no way for him explain why he's an annoying ugly old bastard. I understand why they put him in the DLC rather than the retail game. Didn't even bother to hire him the second time around.

Apart from him there's no one I really dislike. All of them feel like real people and all of them have their own distinct personalities.
Huh? How is that even possible? You run into him as soon as you step off the Normandy on Omega. Can you sneak past him?

I love Tali, but i hated her race's reaction to the Geth becoming intelligent in the back story. I feel the Geth are misunderstood stood, they are very advanced and they are robots, which is always cool. Also, the Geth you fought in ME1 (Heretics to Legion) are bad guys, but the Geth that Legion is a part of is not bad at all.

Same.

Miranda's hot.

Jacob whines and complains about every new team member.

Jack tries to be somekind of cool psycho killer, but really she's an ants-in-her-pants high school girl. And what freaking Bioware intern thought those tattoos and nipple straps looked cool?

Ah! Easily Mordin for his wonderful gilbert and sulivan performance to which i memorized instantly xD

That aside i think i loved all the characters except maybe the merc zaeed. For combat i didn't like Grunt. He was all too up close and personal, which was a real pain since i don't have a limited stock of medi-gel.

[sub]bloody krogans. Good thing most of them can't have kids.[/sub]

If you don't talk to him where he is in Omega you never have to hire him. He seems to have been interrogating that guy for several months now.

I was wondering about this the other day. Out of all the teams mates you've had in Mass Effect Liara is the only one that can't die. That means that if they want to bring back ANYONE appart from her in the final game they'll have to go though hundreds of lines of dialogue that may never be heard on top of all the lines for new characters. Kaiden, Wrex and Ashley returned in Mass Effect 2 but only as minor characters with very little dialogue.

I'd be disappointed if it is so, but I could hardly blame Bioware if the entirety of your Squad in Mass Effect 3 is new [b/]except[/b] from Liara (who seems to have become a much more interesting character since you last left her). Either way it seems they've dug themselves into a hole where they'll either get lots of hate or have a lot of work on their hands.

EDIT: sorry for the double post

For what seems like the millionth time *sighs dramatically* Kaiden isn't boring, the dude committed biotic death on his asshole teacher when he was a teenager. Most of the dislike aimed at Kaiden (purely my own observation) is from male gamers. I think he is a character there is still much to learn about, like how he stayed faithful to a dead woman for two years, kudos to him! Just saying...... :)
I don't hate any of them but wouldn't take them in preference to my old team. Jack is a pain in the ass and Jacob is as boring as (shall I do it? I think I might you know..... Yeah, I'm gunna) Tali!!!! How do you like them apples male gamers? ;-) I don't mean it btw, but I equally don't 'get', the Tali thing either.
I like best Thane and Mordin's personalities and Thane, Mordin, Jack and Samara's battle skills. Jacob can respectfully 'do one'! ;-)
Oh and Amen to putting clothes on Jack!
EDIT - Oh, how I love Legion, it makes the geth very interesting.
