But I like Kelly because she is a spot of sunshine amidst all the doom and gloom of other people (Samara and Thane can be bad for this) going "We're going to die, and it's all going to suck and we can't win and blah de blah."
Yeah I can see that. I mean it's okay being serious about stuff but at the end of the day you can deal with practically anything if you make a joke out of it. :p slightly more on topic I hope they don't do this suicide mission thing in mass effect 3 the whole thing irritated me a bit. Although Shepard will probably die since that's like what big heroes do and stuff.

That is by far not an "insta-win". I've sent very miss matched people to do different things on a few play throughs and have never lost a crew member. Just make sure their loyalty mission is done.

This, a thousand times this. Delete that file, create a new Shepard (maybe even as a class or outlook you haven't tried before), get those freaking upgrades, and then check out this page: http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/No_One_Left_Behind_Achievement_Guide to see how you can bring everyone alive and kicking into ME3.

no just no

I Want a Break from Freaking Mass Effect 2

I want the 20 hours of my life back

It was a Good game

But my Shitty Choices Killed 8 of my Men

...in other words

I will buy ME3 but...not with Jordan Shepard (my Character)
I say keep the choices - this is how the game is meant to be played. When ME3 comes out, play Jordan Shepard as man consumed by guilt over the deaths of his crewmen. Your suicide mission was a real suicide mission, and must have been really heartrending and climactic to go through. If you take that away, then it's all pointless.

The point of the Mass Effect games is to have meaningful choices with lasting consequences; using walkthroughs to get the best results and deleting savegames undermines that. It may suck that those characters are dead, but Mass Effect 3 will be a much more satisfying experience if you own up to that.

Maybe it has something to do with the class you all are playing; as an Engineer, all I can do against the barriers of the Collectors (especially Harbinger) are sic my drone on them and then shoot spitballs at 'em. Is this thread full of Sentinels and no one opted to inform me?

Ah, I never had that problem; Like I said, I sent poor Mordin back so that he didn't get caught in the crossfire, and everyone and their brother on the team was loyal, so that issue never came up. This thread caught my attention because I had just beaten the game an hour ago (at the time of posting) and I got out with no casualties.
I've finished it on a soldier and an infiltrator. The barriers are a pain, but most of the sniper rifles can deal with those pretty quickly. The easy option is to pick warp ammo, and then upgrade it to squad wide as your bonus power (after getting loyalty from Jack), but it's not vital. Heavy weapons can carve through the barriers as well, and a +60% assault rifle will still burn through the barriers, even without specialized ammo. (Hands down, the best weapon upgrade to pick is the assault rifle, this applies to both soldiers and non-soldiers equally).

I didn't like the fact you can save everyone. Having people die makes the whole thing really feel like a suicide mission. More seven samurai then some watered down star trek. On my first play through I lost mordin, legion, Zaeed and the whole Normandy crew AND handed over the collecters base to TIM. Now that is going to be a fun file save to use in MS3.

You can send Kasumi into the vents. That's what I did and she made it out fine.

I'll give you an example. Going into the mission, I considered using Zaeed as one of the fire team leaders. Given the fact that he freaking founded the Blue Suns and has had ages of time working in fire teams with other peeps, I figured he'd fit. Turns out, he's not appropriate for any job save as an escort back to the Normandy, which anyone can do. Apparently, one of his stories you can listen to of his down in the hold (which I soon forgot to listen to after the Collector Ship or so) mentions how he really doesn't give a rat's ass about the people he used to go shoot others with. Without that vital piece of data, he looks like a great candidate, but in fact, he's not. If I hadn't accidentally consulted a guide beforehand, he would have been shot dead.
See, I don't think you would need that story to make an informed decision. I had never heard it. I just judged his character as someone who should not be put in a leadership role. The guy is a stone cold killer, and possesses a definite lone-wolf, stay out of my way mentality. Just judging by his character, you can see that he's a bad choice.

On my first playthrough everyone lived. On my second playthrough I lost half of my crew, not exactly sure why, maybe I should have recruited Tali, Grunt and Legion lol.

It helps with choices

I had everyone loyal, and all upgrades:
Then I Had Legion go through the vents, And Garrus lead the team.
Then Jack Made the bubble shield, With Garrus leading again.
I had Grunt lead the normandy survivors back.
Then I decided that it should be the original crew members that should finish things. Tali and Garrus beat the crap out of the Reaper/thing with me :D

Everyone got through fine.

You forgot:
Upgrade everything on the Normandy except for the Med-bay (unneeded, only fixes your scars if you're a renegade)
Get EVERYONE loyal, not just a few. If they're unloyal, they die. and if they die, chances are they won't be able to help someone else, and that other person (who might even be loyal) dies.

I take Tali and Garrus in the final fight and I've only lost Mordin, but that was my first playthrough. I made the mistake of using Thane for the bubble and lost Grunt, and I used Jacob to escort the Crew to the Normandy so squishy Mordin bought it.
Out of unadulterated curiousity, why do you take Tali and Garrus in there? Nothing in there has shields, nor are there synthetics, so Overload, AI Hacking, and Energy Drain don't do you much. Sure, Tali has drones, but that's about it. Garrus can put sniper rounds into things, especially with Armor Piercing ammo up, but Thane is just as good of a sniper and has Warp to rip off Barriers.

Edit: Spelling.
Sentiment more than anything, Garrus and Tali were my choices for the final battle with Saren in ME1, I just like the characters a lot, and since Tali was my romance option in the game, it was decidedly dramatic when she was the one sliding to their doom.

Besides, for the majority of the game, my team mates were more or less useless for anything other than banter.

Why would i leave them to die? I must Keep Kelly alive (to one day bang her) and the Scottish guy (His Accent is More than needed inorder to survive)

Now i must do one more thing on ME2...Probe Uranus!

I simply don't understand how you could possibly neglect to upgrade your ship. It's made so incredibly obvious that not doing so would result in deaths, that they might as well have thrown up a neon sign saying so.
