I dun gettit - why would you install it on the xbox if you then need the disk anyway? Or do I just not understand the concept here? Is it one of those 'copy protection' things that could be solved with a no-cd patch?
Installing to the hard drive makes it easier for the system to run the game. Reduces load times, and supposedly increases graphics quality a bit. It install all but a few files, so you need the disc(s) to verify that you own the game. As far as I know there are no "no-cd cracks" for the 360.

Mass Effect 2 surpasses Dragon Age in content? Man, when I buy this I might never get out of the house again.

Verification, yes, but it can't 'cos there isn't one.

Huh, but you still need to switch the disks over? Seems kinda redundant but oh well.

The 'no-cd' thing was a PC elitist remark ;) I steadfastly refuse to leave things in my disk-drive so all the games I play are either digital distribution or I found a no-cd patch for them. Speeds up load times (no bull-shit 'check the disk' minutes - if I bought the game I don't want to be nannied and checked everytime I use it - it's enough to make one pirate ;) - simple as.

Believe me this is nothing compared to final fantasy, some of their games are more than 3 discs long o_o

How do we know this is not just a marketing ploy? I mean, everyone gets excited like this when a game is so big it needs two discs, wouldn't the marketing value be worth the cost of the extra disc?

I can't really see a game with such a non-linear design working with a 2 disc setup anyway, unless it makes you switch whenever you visit certain parts of the galaxy, wouldn't the two discs have almost identical data on them?

you mean like, FOUR discs long!

EDIT: Seriously though, no final fantasy game had four discs, Square Enix made Lost Odyssey, and that did have 4 discs (I really don't see why it needed more than 2 though) but saying "Some of their games are more than 3 discs long" is wrong in two ways, the company is Square Enix not final fantasy, and none of them were over 3 discs
