lol reminds me of the baldurs gate series think there were like 5 disks on the first one minus the expansion and five disks for the second one with the expansion

CDs though.

I'm guessing the second DVD is to properly contain the new characters' egos.

i just hoping for more armor and weapon models and better side planets although the second dvd might just be 70 hours of elevator dialogue

You do realise that Bioware has stated that the elevators have been replaced with a new means of transferring between areas, right?

Bioware owns RPG's, hopefully I make it to the release date, I dunno tho, might be a tough one haha

I may be a bit out of the loop, but did Bioware ever announce a rough estimate of how long it would take to beat the game? Because the first one took a damn long time. At this rate, the sequel is gonna eat my life away before I finish (at least I'll be happy though)

Mass Effect 2 [http://www.bioware.com] is so huge, so massive, so mind-blowingly big, it's actually going to have to be spread across two separate DVDs.

An image of the Dragon Age: Origins [http://masseffect.bioware.com/info/collectors/], a pretty beefy game itself, fit on one disc; Mass Effect 2 couldn't possibly require two game discs... could it?

Turns out it could, and it does! BioWare Community Coordinator Chris Priestly has revealed that both the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game, regular and collector's editions alike, will span two DVDs, with the collector's edition including a third DVD with a "making of" video and other content. The PC version of the game will be a standard installation with no disc swapping, while the Xbox 360 version will require one disc swap midway through the game.

"You can install the game to your Xbox 360 Hard Drive as long as you have enough memory to do so and have the correct disc in the drive when you play," Priestly wrote on the Mass Effect forum [http://meforums.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=711031&forum=144&sp=30]. "Even though there is a disc swap, it occurs at a carefully planned place in the game (that does not interfere with gameplay) and is done once. You do not swap back and forth. One swap and then done."

And why on Earth would BioWare need two DVDs - that's over nine gigabytes of capacity - for one single game? "Because you cannot fit this much awesomeness on one disc," Priestly said.

I am digging the box art for this CE, tons better than that comic book crap they showed for the regular release. But I don't mind. When I can afford ME2 I will just be getting it on Steam.

The 'no-cd' thing was a PC elitist remark I steadfastly refuse to leave things in my disk-drive so all the games I play are either digital distribution or I found a no-cd patch for them. Speeds up load times (no bull-shit 'check the disk' minutes - if I bought the game I don't want to be nannied and checked everytime I use it - it's enough to make one pirate - simple as.

Ah, well, fair enough then.

As long as you don't have to switch between discs more than once, god damn Legend of Dragoon storing 1/4 of the map on each disc making me use disc 1/2/3/4 interchangably, I'm cool with it.

I actually liked that game immensly...I actually beat it on my PS3...

OT: Awesome I can't wait it should be very interesting to say the least...now if they needed 2 disks on PS3 than a large percentage of the popualtion would never leave home again...

Real gamers store a layer of fat so when games are in season, you can survive on stored calories. Also, save up sick leave.

I have yet to finish ME 1 or preorder 2, two things I want to do before the end of December

That doesn't necassarily mean jack. I remember reading once upon a time that San Andreas crammed as much as was possibly on a single DVD.

San Andreas was both awesome and rather huge.

Anyway, I'm still looking forward to this.

If i did i guess it would be that San Andreas was out 5 years ago so it's not surprising at all that more and more games these days are too big for one disc.
