Good job to the pirates though! now theres gonna be douches crowding the internet with spoilers!

As opposed to three days ago, when everyone knew how the ending sequences would play out and the gist of the story in general. Or the fact that major DLC spoilers were released before that. -_-

ME3 has been spoilered so much you can pretty much work out the entire game based on them alone.

There's a bit of an irony here. During the weather balloon stunts, the Mass Effect facebook admin person/people said in response to the question of why only console copies of the game were being sent up, that the company was worried PC copies would be pirated.

....it probably would have been, but why they thought console copies were safe, IDK!

And THAT is why I'm trying to limit my exposure to Mass Effect spoilers... I DO realize that one can already figure out the gist of it from already released data, but I don't want to figure it out. Let it be a bit of a surprise...

[sub]For the record, even with my attempted-limited exposure, I already know much more then I wish too...[/sub]

They sent copies of the 360 version into space over a week ago. Am I the only one not surprised that a copy made it's way into the piracy channels?

Seriously, if they weren't expecting this they need their heads examined, don't send out playable versions of games into the wild before release.

Hopefully this can shut up the people who do nothing but parrot piracy arguments any time PC gaming is discussed.

Oh, I never planned on buying it. EA's not getting any more of my money, if I want to know the story, I'll visit the wiki.

HA! This happens all the time. You only ever hear about it when it's a really anticapated game. I'm fine with them banning pirates' 360s, that's what they get for being dumb enough to play it online. I think it either gets uploaded by crooked game store owners/employees who have access to the copies before they're allowed to put them on shelves, or by "critics" who get the game early to review.

I'm really not concerned, it's actually kind of funy to watch. I'm really more concerned about all the crap they make people put up with for used games.

Lauching out free copies of the game into space was such a "good" idea. Nobody would think of "uploading" it to the "internet" which then can be "copied endlessly forever". /crackass sarcasm
Just pointing out, it would be just as easy[footnote]Well, actually it would be a lot easier as it would be a lot easier to grab a copy of the game to... copy, but that's not the point.[/footnote] to create and upload a copy on March 6th as it would be to create a copy from [space]Mass Effect 3. And once it's released in full, it'll be "copied endlessly forever" anyway, and 99.99999% of those who snag a cracked copy of the game wouldn't buy it anyway. So Bioware does this cool and amusing thing that only costs them like 10 sales and increases awareness in their game that will gain them a few.

...I didn't realize that your 60$ is so important to EA... or that I thought you were interested in the game...

and now, the amount of money that the industry claims they loose to piracy will be skewed yet again because, and this is totally shocking, people will torrent a game to start early, even if its for a few days till they get their preorder.

After having watched the ending and realising just how terrible the game is going to be, I think everyone should pirate it. Or better yet, no one touch it, and then make them re do it, retconning the bullshit they tried to pull.

I've been saying this for years, console pirates are just as common as pc ones, the only difference is instead of spending cash on expensive hardware, the console pirate just pays £100-200 odd (total guess there) to have there console chipped and there good till the new console comes out (or they go online and get the console bricked).

They're already adding DRM to console games. This isn't some bleak future where console piracy outranks PC piracy.

Well, if I was getting ME3 I'd get it because I hate origin. But I'd pay EA and Bioware first by buying an actual copy. That way they get their money and if they tried to ban me I could say that I had an actual copy. Boom!
There's no point to the "buy the game and pirate it to avoid Origin." Buying the game doesn't make the piracy any more legal or justified.

Pirate it or don't, all I'm saying is there is definitely no reason to give $60 to EA like they are some kind of charity.

This is assuming consoles are around much longer, it's already clear that consoles are getting more and more expensive to develop and develop for. It's possible that somewhere in the future that the costs are just too high with very little profit and manufacturers drop consoles all together.

Something to think about really.
Wait what? Im sorry but i dont think consoles are going ANYWHERE. And i seriously doubt that somehow a console game is any more expensive to make than a pc game. They are staying until PC becomes more user friendly :)

OT: Damned hackers, ruin it for everyone. That is all.

Well I don't think the publishers will begin to add the same DRM measures for Xbox/PS3, and that's for one main reason: Very few (percentage wise) console owners can execute pirated games.
Not really. There doesn't exist any hard data of course to prove either statement, but with how easy (and cheap) it is to buy an already modded xbox I wouldn't be surprised if the percentage was quite high, especially if it's already banned from Live. People buy those even to play legit games if they don't care for Live due to the massive price difference.

It doesn't make it more legal, but it makes it justified, IMO. The overall outcome is the same for the developers: they get their money. It's as if you haven't pirated anything at all. And you don't have origin. Win-win situation.
Pirating a game because You disagree with companies business practice is the absolutely worst thing You can do. Why? Because while, sure you deny them the profit from the game, you same time show them that the game is very important for you, which leads to more DRM in future or less support for PC users.
Don't like what the company is doing with their games - don't play the game or buy it once the price drops to the level You feel is acceptable for the service/trouble.
