"PC rendition of Mass Effect 3 than there are the Xbox 360 version, which begs the question, what will publishers start doing when console piracy starts eating into sales?"

Piracy doesn't eat into sales. It never has and it never will.

"PC game sales have risen globally by 15% year-over-year in 2011, reaching a record $18.6 billion."

The major corporations and general gaming media fools keep spouting that piracy and used games is killing everything, but in fact, everything is expanding strongly. If piracy becomes a as big on consoles as it is in piracy, it will not have a negative effect. Period.
I still like to pretend that it's a huge increase INDIE GAME SALES and not the Big Publishers' tired sequels that account for that rise.

Well, a man can speculate; a man can dream.

Oh don't worry, Indie sales are up also. That market is growing nicely and has been for years. As with the major titles, a part of why its growing is piracy, which is why more and more Indie devs are openly supporting piracy.

Heres ones example of that: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/118/1184550p1.html

The Artwork is very pretty though.
This is by far one of the best qualities I forgot to mention.

On side note, I find it amusing that out of that entire post, Bastion is now the focus.

Indeed. But that proves my point, consoles are still making them lots of money. Which is why they wont be going anywhere anytime soon :)

Either way, ive shared my opinion, and im done with this. Too much work. Im lazy like that.

Then you've missed the point. The point of the content I linked was to show evidence of consoles eventual death, not imminent death. I do recall using a phrase along the lines of "in the future". Once again, I suggest you read it.

I did read it though :/ And I questioned the source. Dont take some random forumites shakey prediction as fact. His argument leant heavily on ONE company (activision) and stats on the number of games.

As i said, i bow out gracefully. You stick to your opinion, and ill stick to mine :)

As long as the skills required to use these hacks are so specialized, the publishers won't have a reason to invest millions in new DRM, when they lose fewer money doing nothing.
You still believe DRM is supposed to stop piracy? As if pirates can't just run a crack...

If they were waiting for an excuse to run DRM on consoles, this is it.
I am a PC gamer having to suffer DRM and believe that the current situation is that companies desire DRM to work but no one can quite manage to make it un-crackable... Why do they keep it? CEO's... It's to reassure the dumb-**** investors that they are somehow combatting piracy. They aren't... but it's a bit like tridant (15 billion nuclear deterrent)...

However... The fact that as of yet no one has got a crack for ME3 may actually change this so that publishers can combat piracy with this method...

The games-a-foot :)

(or it just takes a bloody long time to crack)

This has been going on for years. 360 versions of AAA titles would be available days, even weeks before the PC version (even assuming simultaneous releases on both platforms). People have just been sticking fingers in their ears and singing loudly to ignore the fact, because "EVERYONE" knows all pirates are on the PC...

I'm not surprised, thanks to all the bad PR Bioware has been getting lately and the fact it's Origin only there will probably be a lot of people pirating the game who would have originally bought it.
