Ok Just had a chance to play the Mass Effect 3: Omega DLC and thought I'd give you my opinion of it, but first:

***SPOILER ALERT!***

The war for Omega has begun - How far will you go to end it?

Firstly a bit of background, Mass Effect: Invasion, is a tie-in comic that explains how Aria lost Omega to Cerberus.
I read the comic before ME3's release and loved the mention during Aria's first meeting with Shepard in Purgatory (how the Illusive Man is at the top of Aria's "shit list") and looked forward to the retaking DLC.

Ok, back to the DLC
The story starts when Shepard recieves an email from Aria asking for a meeting to discuss her "pet project" this leads to four very short, very linear missions that don't change a damn thing.

Pro's & Con's
Pro's
*A Female Turian
(Finally we get to see what they look like.)
*Three new War Assets
(If you really need them.)
*Two new weapons
(Only one if you bought the collector's edition)

Con's
*Five FIVE missions
(And one of those is meeting Aria on the Citidel to chat!)
*The whole thing lasted about and hour and a half
(And I'd say a good fifty five percent of that is cut scenes/ chatting to NPC's.)
*You don't get to take any of your crew with you
(Also known as the "we couldn't be bothered to get the voice actors to record extra dialogue" excuse)

The premise is sound, and with the introduction of Nyreen Kandros (The Turian who turns out to be the polar opposite of Aria, someone who genuinely cares for the citizens of Omega) there was the option to choose a side, stick with Aria and take the war assets or side with Nyreen and allow Omega to be reborn, but instead we are left exactly where we started but with a bit more Eezo!
I'm a massive ME fan so I'm normally the one defending Bioware to the full, but boy does this DLC suck!

I didn't have high hopes for this DLC and from everything I have heard it sounds like it is a giant pile of "meh". I haven't bought any DLC for this game yet and I don't ever plan to.

It's amazing how much I don't care about the DLC for this game...

The DLC for ME2 I picked us as soon as they were made available.

I'm not sure why I don't care for it.

From what I've seen of it online, it's too expensive and has too little content to justify the price tag.

Nyreen is a waste of a character - she shows up half-an-hour in, and disappears at various points to do her own thing with the Talons. She's only a squadmate for half of the DLC. Not only that, but she gets killed off just before the end in a pointless sequence. It would have been interesting to have her as a permanent squadmate after the fact, but it's a waste in the end.

It just feels very boring. Lots of mindless shooting in corridors, a villain (if you can even call him that) who is barely developed, the same combat lines repeated over and over ("Tell your boss I'm back!" is the worst) and a lack of polish in the cutscenes - Aria's speech in the Talon headquarters is hilariously glitchy.

While the combat itself is a bit more varied than normal, it's really a wash. You get references to the previous game, but they only happen near the end, and while the fact that you can alter Aria's morals is nice, it doesn't mean anything after the fact. Hilariously, she goes back to sitting on the same couch in the Citadel after the mission is over!

Bottom line - not worth it.

Honestly, I'm like halfway through it, and Aria's voice actor Trinity is fucking aweful, in that little speech she gives to omega, barely any emotion whatsoever, wtf happened to ME2 Aria?! No emotion at all. And since I happen to be playing as male shep... ugh

Yesterday I thought "oh go on then get mass effect 3 omega, I have been waiting to see what a female turian looks and sounds like, and it sounds like bioware was worked hard on this dlc so lets give it a go." After finishing I thought "why did I buy that, why didn?t I wait for a review." in my opinion the gameplay was dull and boring, you shoot the bad guys in a dark lit space staion and you do that for about 3-4 hours. There was nothing interesting or memorable about the story the squadmates or the villian. it also had a bug in it, Aria was giving a speech to the people of omega then she stared to glitch, it looked silly. But not as silly as buying expensive dlc with bugs in it.

overall not good, as for the female turian Nyreen if your thinking of getting omega because you want to see her, just watch her on youtube.

The problem with these ME3 DLCs is that now that the series is over, there is no real urgency or interest to see how these side stories turn out, since they have no impact on the rest of the game. If the missions had an effect on the rest of the game outside of some war assets, then I would think it okay. Instead, we get what is basically a short one-off mission. At least with ME2 you could justify them with the idea that they would play into ME3 in some way (which they did, even if most of it was just minor dialogue in the end). Here, there is nothing. And given that Bioware has only made one DLC mission I really like (Lair of the Shadow Broker, which was amazing), there's no incentive for me to buy these even if I still did enjoy ME3. At the very least they should add a new squad mate or something. Instead all that is added is new guns, which there are already plenty of. So with no real plot effects, no new characters, and short length, the DLC offers nothing substantial.

Thanks.

Now it's another ME3 DLC that I'm not going to buy. So far I've bought none of them, not even from Ashes :)

I was hoping we'd get at least one new permanent squad member out of this. Ah, well...

Unless I'm mistaken, Javik is the only permanent squad member "from DLC" and that's because he was taken out of the main game and cost extra money to be put back in.

I don't know why anyone would even bother buying pre-ending DLC after the ending nullifies anything that came before...

Honor his sacrifice

I've never really been a fan of DLC after stories have concluded, and I didn't think this was going to change my mind. Thanks for the heads up

i have this same notion. for me it is because nothing you do in any DLC Bioware releases for ME3 will have any impact on the final outcome of the game. You already know how it ends, so who cares what happens before that?

edit (added): in ME2 DLCs had some impact on the ME3 (some more than others). that made them worth playing if only to see how the entire story played out.

Yeah, he is. Sucks. I was hoping Aria would come along after Omega. Or the new character. Anyone. My Shepard needs more people to talk to. That aspect of Mass Effect 3 was disappointing. There are still conversations I haven't had in Mass Effect 2 after about ten playthroughs.

And we need a scum of the universe type on the Normandy anyway. We had Wrex in the first, much of the cast of second, but none in the third.

Before I finally picked up Mass Effect 3 I spent some time getting the DLC for 2 and for the most part felt kinda ripped off. None of it really felt like it had any impact and I didn't care about any of the story even remotely. Kasumi for example was at best 'alright' but honestly having played it I feel like I'd have been just as good saving my money, not like she really did anything anyway. Overall pretty disappointing.

Then I played the Shadow Broker DLC and it was genuinely fantastic. Probably the highlight of that Mass Effect 2 playthrough. Great music, compelling story that felt important to the overall narrative, excellent characterization that actually managed to make me give a shit about a character who before I'd largely disliked; Liara, and it was just a great overall cinematic experience.

Since then I keep hoping Bioware might make another DLC of that calibre, something to make me want to replay Mass Effect 3 and forget about the disappointing ending for a bit.

Sad to hear this isn't it. Pity.

Yeah I kinda had hopes for Omega but it ended up being just okay. It was extremely overpriced too, the thing definitely was worth 15 dollars, but luckily I didn't spend my money to get. And just to be clear I didn't pirate it.
