Mass Effect 3 Squad

Ok, I think that what Bioware should be doing for ME3 is to continue to develop the characters that have been introduced in the previous two installments. I think it would be great if the team dispersed after the end of the second, and in the third, Shepard has the option to go and visit all of his previous teammates in their new homes.

Additionally, Thane is my absolute favorite, so I would be ecstatic if you were able to go on a side quest to help him out with his disease!

Those are the only ones I see returning. Everyone else probably has other stuff going on. For the remaining slots, however many there are, I'd imagine there'd be new people. There are too many possibilities to consider if ME2 survivors carried over to ME3. OF those that I listed, I'm completely sure that Ashley/Kaiden will be there, and Garrus probably.

I Would love if it was: Everyone from the first game, Everyone form the second game and 4 or 5 new ones. And if you could bring 4 people with you on missions.

I'm excited about Kasumi. Hopefully, she won't be a Zaeed type character with no dialogue. I guess her room is going to be the one opposite to Samara's. I've heard with the Hammerhead DLC that we'll have access to the Normandy's hangar.

i think alot of people are missing a major factor here, the ENTIRE crew of mass effect 2 are expendable , which means they all can die (EVEN SHEPHARD). I would love to see a couple coming back for the next one but i think that if that was the case then the creators would have to make basically numerous different games/quests for the characters that return. why do you think the council didnt play a big role in mass effect 2, its because if you saved them or didnt in the first one then they have to write an entire story around what didnt happen AND what did for the sequel so what they cleverly (but noticeably ) did was just shove them on the side like a piece of furniture, which i must say i was dissapointed because i thought it was a major story defining decision in the climax of the first game .but i can understand the decisions they have to make, its tough enough making one game let alone hundreds for each of the branches that the mass effect series could potentially reach out too. I think the odd NPC and simplistic quest is feasible to do developers, i think we can expect the same from me3 as we did from the jump from ME1 to ME2, the characters who were expendable in the previous games ( if they survive) will have minor roles. like kaiden/wrex and asheligh. i was suprised though that the entire crew of the normandy could be killed on the suicide mission. the only non expendable ex squad member is Liara who i believe will return as a recruit in ME3, garrus and tali will have a similar role to Kaiden and Asheligh provided they survived the collector ship. I also think we will not see cerberus alot in the next game either due to the big decision at the end of ME2, the developers i don't think would put that much effort into basically making 2 different games where in one the collector ship is saved and the other where its blown up. its kinda reminiscent of council dies/council lives, later to find out thatit didnt really matter anyway.

if anyone is to come back i hope its Thane and they give you a quest to cure him, i instantly loved him from the second he destroyed the person he was supposed to assassinate along with all of her guards.

It will definately be hard to do this because most of them can die but if everyone is in it then this is what is my top ten in order would be.
I would probably want to have the characters from me1 back to be honest. Not that I didn't like the people from me2 except for jack.

Of the 16 squadmates you can have so far, only 1 is guaranteed to be in ME3, and that's Liara, seeing as how she's the only one with no possibility of dying.

Characters I'd like to see back would be:

Tali & Legion - The banter is great, the Quarian/Geth storyline is probably the most interesting of then all, also those 2 plus engineer Shepard = 3 COMBAT DRONES! (I should have picked this setup on Insane, seriously having 6 bodies in a fight helps).

Jack & Mordin - Jack because she holds 2 of my favourite character types, the psycho ***** and she has Survivor's Guilt. Mordin because his behaviour about the Genophage makes him more than just the stereotypical crazy scientist, shows his conflicting thoughts about what he's done, plus he's probably the most well written character out of all of the ME2 cast.

Ashley - Her human-first attitude in the first game combined with her Cerberus-goes-too-far attitude from the second make for an interesting final product.


Characters I'm ambivalent towards (in other words I wouldn't mind seeing back but won't be too bummed if they aren't) - Samara, Thane, Garrus, Grunt/Wrex (by now they're pretty much just palette swaps).


Characters I definitely don't want to see back:

Jacob & Miranda - Neither one is greatly likeable, Jacob is the simple (farm)soldier boy, and Miranda is the generic stuck-up *****, her sister storyline was phoned in and failed to garner any sort of real emotional or intellectual interest from me.

Kaiden - In every game of ME1 I ever play, I will always, always murder him. He's just a walking pile of 'meh'.

Zaeed - Fuck this guy, good but not great in a fight, and just a bitter old man with an uninteresting past, Wrex was better at being the grizzly veteran badass. Hell, Anderson was better at being the grizzly veteran badass.

While true, there's a flip side to this logic:
- The first two games spent an immense amount of time and effort allowing Shepard to get to know the people he's with so relegating all of them to the backburner and introducing an all new squad would feel cheap and likely end the trilogy on a sour note.
- Some of your squadmates are crucial to how the story ends, especially Tali & Legion.
- Tali and Garrus are fan favorites, meaning Bioware would be in for a lot of flak if they didn't come back in a big way.

When it comes down to it, I have a hard time believing that Bioware would expend all this effort on character development only to have them play minor parts in the finale, simply because they're all expendable.

JeanLuc761 u are spot on. As a massive fan on the games i would feel deeply let down if they didnt give u a chance to have all the sqaud from both games back together again. If they did you could have some more time dealing with the interteam relations i.e Ashley/Kaiden and Lawson or Tali and Legion. Even if you can miss the opertunity to have them all together such as if had romance with 2 say Ashley then Lawson you would have to choose one but if not u could take both or having to find someway to overcome the fact that people wont want to work with people they hate. etc. They may also have a life and death type deal like ME2 so if u do things wrong someone dies but not just at the end, during the entire game, as they need to get right into the stroy early on like ME1, and not have the beggining and End as the main story parts like ME2. They need to make ME3 feel like an epic struggle against the reapers, from start to finish with all the chracters from both games who sheppard now trust and is friends with playing large roles. Either way if they mess ME3 up i will hunt them down lol

I want them all. Seriously, all my surviving team-mates from ME1 and ME2 NEED to be by my side to end this thing. It'd just be wrong for the ones who were loyal to just up and leave, and I will HATE it if BioWare just kills them off in some contrived way.

Well I think you can start as a whole new character, if you didn't play Mass Effect 2. So that means that if you don't import, Sheapard died, and so did his squad. So I think that there will be a whole new squad, but if you import, your squad will come back as well.
