Hello Escapit

About a month ago I rented Mass Effect 2. I then beat it, had a great time. A great enough time for me to buy Mass Effect 1 and beat it.

So today I was out to buy a new game and I thought to myself "well I could play through Mass Effect 2 with my new character along with, going for the new dlc" but the game got... boring.

I already know what's going to happen and when I pick different dialog everything ends up summarizing as about the same experience. I feel so underpowered after just beating Mass Effect 1 and killing the final boss in about three minutes.

I just feel like I'm going through the same waves of enemies as I did the first time around and I really would like to get back in to this game. The last time I got all the characters, and did all the loyalty missions so this time I don't feel like there is anything new. I've seen all of this.

Sure it has fun parts, but it's like watching a movie over again, only the movie is about 15-X hours. You know.... So how I can I fix this, what other things in the game could I have missed. I would have loved it if they put more side missions in, and I really don't want to go from planet to planet for an hour to fined a three minute side mission.

It's been about three months since I've played it and it's either this or call of duty modern warfare two. I mean the choice was made for me, I just need to fined something I didn't know about the first time around or anything to spark my interest.

On a side note EA is amazing service wise. I had a live chat with one of the people that worked there because I got the game used, I got it used for 60$'s though and I rented it in the passed so the person, ended up putting the network, on my account, free of charge. No strings or complaints attached.

That made my day.

PS. Were is the best town/planit/Whatever to get weapons. I have a ton of credits to spend but I don't know where to spend them.

PSS. What's it worth playing the game with the same character twice.

Thanks for reading and hopefully responding from Jesse Bergerstock Aka SingleTap "Tap"

Have you tried playing it while masturbating? Adds a whole extra dimension to the pleasure and difficulty.

To be honest, I haven't had the compulsion to re-play since I finished it. I usually wait a good six months to a year until I play a big RPG again, as I find I'll just get really bored with the stuff I can't do differently (especially the opening... KOTOR 1&2 were horrendous for this, the first 5 hours or so would really drag second time though... loved them otherwise though).

You could try playing it through without getting all the companions. Then the story would seem a little shorter.

But if you purchased it, maybe giving it a few months time between playthroughs will make it seem fresher to you. Also, if you wait a bit there may be some substantial DLC that will add a bit more to the game.

Play it backwards. Upside down. With your monitor/TV sideways. With all the controls randomly remapping themselves.

Sorry, that was Ninja Gaiden I was thinking of. Maybe set it down and wait a while?

I have done this. I did map a couple skills to my extra mouse buttons and couldn't move and shoot too well :(

Anyway, play it on Insanity mode. It's not TOO difficult, but hard enough you're going to have to approach fights with strategy rather than brute strength.

Yeah, Mass effect 2 is much much shorter than ME1 sadly. The main questline is about the same lenght but there's about 10 or 12 side-quests total in ME2 versus over 60 in ME1, they focused much more on combat mechanics (which are very good, no question) and story-continuity.The best part of importing a ME1 game is all the follow-up in ME2, sometimes for seemingly irrelevant stuff (if you let Fist go in the first, he's now a drunken looser at afterlife on Omega in ME2, Helena Blake also hangs at afterlife IF you finished her questline AND convinced her to retire in ME1)

But yes, the game is pretty short(ish), much shorter than ME1 anyways. At least now your squadmates are more than dead weight in combat, they actually do something...

Also, strip mining planets for ressources instead of wandering around in the Mako cuts a lot of "playtime" (i liked the Mako :( )

I've had a different experience with Ea hehe, i had trouble making it work and chatted with one of their "techs" because the game crashed 6 minutes in, every time, at the same place and his advice was to turn off my firewall....say what ? They also told me the game did not work with Windows 7 64-bits

I managed to fix it by myself, no thanks to EA which offered me to refund my game at the end of the chat session, oh well.

Edit : try a different class if you haven't, i played soldier first because it's what i was used to and tried sentinel for another playthrough, very different combat (and moreso if you go full biotic/tech)

I had the same problem.

I beat it once, and started another playthrough, because that's what all the cool kids do.

And my god, is it boring. It wouldn't have been as bad if I had the option to change my class, but I didn't, so I just kinda stopped playing in the middle of Tali's recruitment mission.

I'll probably finish it when ME3 is announced, but until then it's Red Dead Redemption and Alan Wake.

You have the option to change your class, at the beginning when you're being rebuilt (right after the Normandy gets wasted)

Search your shelves for Baldur's Gate 2 and its expansion, Throne of Bhaal. They'll be there somewhere. Got them? Okay, now uninstall Mass Effect 2. Done? Great, now install Baldur's Gate 2. You're almost there, now install the expansion... When you've done that, go to the Baldur's Gate 2 directory and rename it. Just leave it as "Mass Effect 2" for now.

If everything went according to plan, the game in "C:\Games\Mass Effect 2" will now fare much better when subjected to repeated play-throughs than it did before you engaged in this process. Don't mention it.

I played the first ME like 8 times and got the level 60 achievement and beat it on Insanity. I actually only just started my ME2 Insanity play through, and I must say that if you find this game boring, then you should probably just go make some egg and bacon or something. Or maybe buy a new game like Splinter Cell Conviction or something. No wait, I like that first idea better.

There's only 3 "hubs" in ME2, you'll buy all your stuff either from the citadel (3 important stores + 2 with gimmicks (ship models, fish etc)) Omega (3 stores) or Illium (2 stores iirc)

You can have a moderately different game with the same char if you follow the opposite route (Paragon/Renegade), i'd recommend using a different class though as only the dialogue will be different.

Edit : also you do not buy weapons, you buy upgrades, the new weapons are all found, not bought.

That's exactly how I felt. They don't give you as many options as in ANY of their other RPGs. To loosely quote Hilary Goldstien, "You'll still save the world at the end, you either just do it as a jerk or as a hero."

I loved that in KoTOR 1 & 2, Dragon Age(kinda) and Baldur's Gate the world shaped itself to your actions. Star Forge anyone?

Also, the fact that you have a lvl cap at 30 kinda water's down the experience.

This times 1000. I've played the BG series multiple times. I've played ME and Dragon Age once. There is just so little to do in ME and DA that I've got no drive to play them again.

I personally think it's a bad idea to play ME1 after ME2, as Mass Effect 1 looks much sloppier in comparison after playing the second. It also makes the plot easier to follow, you know.

But anyways, there isn't really a good place to buy weapons and armor. They'll come to you as you find weapon caches and beat enemies. The only really great stuff is the Spectar Gear which can only be gotten after getting 1,000,000 credits (gets you level 7 Specter Gear) and then after getting higher than level 50 (Gets you level 10 Specter Gear) from the Requisition Officer at C-Sec.

As for making the game fun, it's really your own opinion, so there's not really any way to "make it fun". I suggest just playing through all the side quests you can find, exploring all the planets and seeing what comes of it.

You aren't enjoying mass effect because you played mass effect 2 first? And you can beat the final boss in 3 minutes? You obviously aren't playing on a high difficulty, and if you are, you're doing a lot of side missions to get the equipment too beat it that quickly. It sounds like you're playing the game just for the plot. If that's the case, playing mass effect 2 first was obviously a bad idea.
