This is Star Wars Fan boy self destruction all over again. (If anyone forgot let me just refresh your minds what happened: Lucas made some modifications to the original saga people went nuts. He then had a prequel series and every time he did one of those three fans foamed at the mouth as if cartoonish wise that they had rabies. He made a cartoon so kids can be introduced to the saga older fans still raged. During this time fan boys claimed that their childhood was ruined or Lucas "raped" their childhood. Yeah not joking. Every time someone said that they enjoyed something about the prequels or enjoyed a character from it. You would see people foam at the mouth even more and attack the fan verbally. Soon george lucas felt his fans became his producers and decided to leave mainstream film making and even then fans raged about it.Thus fans destroyed Star Wars by being producers) So in essence this is happening again with Bioware fans.

Well maybe they should stop making us feel like we can do a better job than they can.
Any fan-produced AAA game would run its budget into the ground and utterly fail to recover.

How about I just stop thinking I am your customer and take my money elsewhere. How ya like that idea?
Devs need to get their heads out their asses and stop thinking we owe them sales. We don't like your shitty practices, we have the right to tell you to get fucked. Don't like it? Get another job.

It's the same as any product, be it game, film, music...

You are perfectly within your rights to speak up and say you didn't like what was made. You also have the right to simply not purchase it, if that is your wish. However, whilst the people who made whatever it is can listen, they have no obligation at all to act on what you've said. A lot of them do actually listen to what fans say, and take it on board. However, until you've actually worked in that environment, you're not really qualified to tell them how to run their business.

It'd be like going into a restaurant then standing over the chefs' shoulder telling him he's doing it all wrong and the meal's now ruined. Maybe not my best analogy in the world ever, but it'll do for the moment.

If a business practice isn't achieving the desired results / profits, then the company will no doubt look at changing it. Otherwise...

I can't wait for Zeel to come off his suspension. Everything has been building up since then, it will be glorious.
Sorry to be anti-climactic, but Zeel got banned in another Mass Effect 3 thread:

Don't know if he made another account though. If he did, he's being a lot more subtle.

Please do.

Hint: it's much harder than you think it is.
I said feel like, not that we actually could ;-P

My problem with the day one DLC wasn't the fact that it was day one DLC, it was the lying.

Hum, I fail to see what part of this I need to be offended over... Maybe she went a bit far in calling people out but she sounds pretty frustrated so she might have just been pushed over the edge. Damn, I closer to a developer everyday, I got to do more coding to get an actual job.

I count this particular DLC as exploitation because to some people, it is REALLY important, and these people aren't given the choice to forget it ever existed, they have to live with knowing that they are not playing the full experience compared to someone who forked out the money. Besides which, I think (and I'm using US prices here for simplicity's sake) that 10 dollars is a bit f***ing steep considering it's nowhere near as complicated as one sixth of the standard game.

All this said, she has a bit of a point, we can act like entitled morons when we want to. It's just that this is so very clearly not a case of "Hey guys, because we love our fans so much, we'll let you have a real Spoilerian if you want!" and more a case of "Hey, since you're buying the game new anyway for the pre-order bonus, why don't you buy the DLC as well? Everyone else will. Besides, no game is complete without it!"

And nothing of value was lost.

Also, does this mean we get Plinkett reviews for terrible Bioware sequels now?

It's less that we're starting to think we can do a better job than Bioware (unless one of us is secretly Mark Pay) and more that the we're starting to agree that CDPR, Obsidian, Atlus, etc. can do a better job than Bioware.

I used to hope that these incidents with Bioware are problems under pressure or mistakes made and not selfish gain. Can't believe they'd bullshit the long-time fans like that. But evidence proved otherwise so I guess that's another company that has betrayed its loyal fans.

The other fucking problem would be their sudden change of target audience.

Hahahaha Bioware is so bad at PR.
Maybe you should read the article. She's not not with Bioware. This is not Bioware being bad at PR.
Really? When is the last time you saw a former Valve employee arguing with fans in support of their former company? This reminds me of the DA2 metacritic review by a Bio employee or their employees' conduct on the forums in that it's emblematic of their employees and/or former employees not having a clear understanding of professional conduct.

How come game developers think they have the right to decide what their customers should talk about?

Most gamers aren't qualified to be producers, but they certainly are qualified as gamers and to have an opinion about what they think of games.

If the chef don't want their customers looking over the shoulder, he can kick them out of the kitchen. In the case of Bioware they created a lot of the hype themselves and should be prepared to deal with it.

This is about Day 1 DLC, not the Endings. A non-issue, to me.
I agree.

Now the whole "day one DLC" issue has been overshadowed by the ending fiasco.

If I think they are exploiting the fans and generally being ****s then I can complain about it. I hear the word entitled thrown around a lot to describe people who complain about companies doing this kind of thing, yet now I am really starting to think that the companies are the ones being entitled by thinking that they can do whatever they want and nobody should complain about it.

Since when is it bad to complain about buisness practices that we don't like?

Christina Norman: "Stop thinking you're a producer and telling us when and where we should be building our content."

Gabe Newell: "The customer is basically our CEO."

Thank you for showing us how much you value your customers.

I seriously thought it was just hyperbole and people looking for attention when people called Bioware a "cancer".

But now I can see they really are.

They insult their customers, lie to them, over charge them and strong arm gaming media with Suger Daddy EA's money.

If anyone pulls them up on this bullshit, they start screaming buzzwords: Entitled! Misogynists! Homophobia! They pretend they're some kind of victim.

Then idiots swoop to defend them, and completely miss the point. PR success for Bioware.

Hell, even gaming forums like this place are trying to justify their behavior.

They are ripping you off and using you. Please stop defending this bullshit. It is helping none of us.
It feels like I'm reading posts from a bunch of people with Stockholm syndrome.
