I actually like Ashley, though she's a ***** and I meant to kill her in ME 1 after accidentally entering the romance sequence with her (meant to do it with Liara), but felt guilty when I had to decide to leave her or the guy.

good lord. I've stated this before. It's not Tali, It's what happend to the species. Hell, I don't take sides, there's no clear right or wrong there's just what happened.

I'm not trying to advance one species over the other here, I'm just trying to tell you guys I understand her anger toward geth for what they did to her homeworld.
If something like that happened to earth, you'd bet I'll be pissed.

my original point wasn't that the quarians had no fault in it, just that i understand why they dislike the geth.
You have to understand. This is the internet. It is a requirement of everyone that their statements be taken out of context. And since argument is the international passtime...
you are 100% right. thanks :p

the reason people aren't going on at Bioware for being sexist is because they're not, sex sells, and they're just playing a game that the vast majority of the entertainment industry is playing
Uh... hate to break it to you, but that argument doesn't demonstrate Bioware isn't sexist. It only demonstrates that Bioware is no more or less sexist than, say, Micheal Bay.

Are they a completely adult approach to these matters, no, but they're head and shoulders above the rest of the field imo. You have to form relationships, you can quite easily fuck these relationships up, or you can ignore the affections of those around you, and you don't even have to be heterosexual...
Bioware's a little better than a few games on relationships. In some of their games. (not, for instance, the Mass Effect series or DA2). But I was talking about their level of maturity re: sex, which is pretty laughable. It generally either comes off as hilarious pandering (in the case of the visuals, or in the case of characters like Isabella and the entire Asari species) or as how this kind of guy [http://www.heartless-bitches.com/rants/niceguys/niceguys.shtml] thinks sex fits into the context of a relationship. There are a few exceptions. I didn't recall Dragon Age: Origins actively annoying me (except with stereotyped bisexual characters and the actual sex scenes - and the less said the better about those) with the maturity level of its sexual content.

And re: heterosexuality, suffice to say that Bioware has not included an actual gay or lesbian love interest, period.

My problem with both Ash and Miranda is that they come off unlikable. Ashy because she's raciest, granted her family history explains if not out right excuses that.
I know this has been pointed out repeatedly but Ashley is NOT racist. She merely doesn't believe we need "aliens" to further HUMAN goals. She even compliments and shows compassion to the other non-humans in the crew and that you meet.

I really wish people would stop just regurgitating things they read somewhere without paying attention to how she really acted.

OT - I think Jack and Miranda are the most unattractive of the series by far, looks and personality both hollow and boring. While Ashley isn't a beauty queen I did find her semi-attractive and interesting. Though I will say without shame that I am a Tali fanboy 100%.
I know that but that's how it comes off to ME. Everything is subjective. It's just she seems...I don't know...I find that I warmed up to her in later playthroughs cause I experimented with my team makeup a lot so I saw more that I missed. But...it's just how she comes off to me. If she doesn't to you that's fine but that's how I see it....So I guess I'm that Turian in ME2 arguing with that woman at C-sec...>.>
