Alright, so I love Mass Effect, I love the story telling, the combat while awkward at times is enjoyable and the cinematic and involved dialogue sections really excite me. Despite all of this though, I've never been able to pick up Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2 up again and play through the game once more. I know there is a different path to take and other objectives to fill by being a renegade, but I can't bring myself to slug through the same story missions again. Does anyone else have this problem and for those that have multiple completions under your belt, how do you do it?

Note: This includes the Dragon Age games and Bioshock and well...any game with a moral choice issue that creates more than one ending. So feel free to throw those in as well.

Same here, once i finish a playthrought it takes me weeks to enjoy it again, most likely because of the massive amount of dialogue.

Same here. I tried playing through the games once more, but without much luck (Has nothing to do with the game's quality however).
I don't mind though. My first playthrough of both games was great and I don't need to replay the games, I have plenty of other games to play.

I don't really mind much. Yeah, some parts are tediuos, but I found the game so awesome that it doesn't really matter to me. I lost count of my number of playthroughs... In both games...

What I do is play through "good" (doing what I would do) then "bad" (doing the exact opposite of what I would do). It makes the story varied enough that I do not get tired of it.

Well, fair enough. Nobody said you had to play it multiple times.

Personally I don't really have that problem (if you could call it that). I've played ME1 three times, ME2 four times and Bioshock three times. Although I almost always leave at least a couple of months between each run.

The exception is Amnesia. That game relies heavily on the player not knowing what's around the next corner or exactly when they're in danger. I don't think a second playthrough would have anywhere near the same impact as the first.

I'm playing it through again becuase my old pc crapped up and I lost my save files. I want to have a save file ready for me3 :)

You are right though its hard to play through straight after playing it because of the dialogue. I have played through DAO tons of times promising myself this time I will romance Zevren. Never happens... Alastair is just too goddamn perfect.

Yup, I tried playing Mass Effect 2 again.
I tried to go in a completely different way with my character and with a completely different build but I gave up half-way through!
I did re-play a lot of section from it when I first played, because I wanted to see the different outcomes, but nothing more than that had kept my interest.
Same for the Dragon Age games.
I think even though I love Story driven games, they're still far to linear to be enjoyable enough a second or third time.
It's why I've played dozens of games of Diablo, Civilisation, Total War etc. but only once through the Soul Reaver games, Silent Hills, Bioshocks, Vampire Masquerades, Mass Effects, Dragon Ages and Mysts and the many others like them.

Same here, I've already played through ME1 twice. Don't get me wrong, I love the story, characters, dialogue and the universe. But thinking of going back to that god-awful inventory system sends the shiver down my spine. At least, the Mako missions were fun. *straight face*

The main reason ive found for replaying it is to tailor my choices for ME2, it annoys me when the game thinks that i would give Udina anything other than a punch.

The story-line and characters in both Mass Effects always drew me in, for the most part. In all do honesty, Ashley and what is his face, I can not remember stupid human biotic who always whined about his head hurting. They did nothing to make the game more pleasant and just seemed like token humans; which were replaced by the far more interesting Miranda and Jacob in the following game. Garrus and Tali, I'm sorry but if those two were real I would lay down my life for either one at a moments notice; simply because their stories actually made me emphasize with them a great deal. Grunt....I felt was a poor replacement for Wrex, but understandable; meanwhile, Legion gave more story on the Geth, while the good doctor and the Assassin just rounded everyone out...seriousness and comic relief in the opposite order. Samara...didn't use her much, but I will admit having a Asari that you couldn't mate with actually did add a nice layer to the backstory; especially with her daughter.

Still, even with the possible lover sequences, the varied endings and the different styles of play you could take them through. I could just never bring myself to do it again; ME1 was great, but had some issues. ME2 was the same way. Dragon Age 1 and 2 I felt could have taken a page, but were still good and Bioshock well...it was bioshock...lol. Yet, I can never really go back to a game once I've beaten it. It isn't necessarily a problem I suppose, but I wonder just why I can't do it especially when I know there is a good deal of content out there i won't get unless I do so.

I barely got through Mass Effect once so I can't comment on that but as for other games with different endings, I either save to see all the endings or try another playthrough. Granted, I only start the second one if the game is really interesting or different. My record of plays has been Vampires (over 10 for sure) and Baldur (around 10-15) but not as much for different playing styles as for the fact that I loved them as quests and characters.

I have replayed Mass Effect 1 more than any other game evar! The thing you need to realise is to not force yourself to do it otherwise it looses its appeal. You should want to replay it, if that never comes about then it appears it was not meant to be.

It's funny because ME is the only game I have finished at least 10 times, and enjoy the playthrough everytime. ME2... Not so much. I have played it several times though.
Well, I suppose everyone has their own tastes!

I rarely go through story modes again, even for my favourite games. The first time always has that mystic unknown that can never be made up for.

my biggest reason for replaying the hell out of it right now is to get the carryover stories for paragon and renegade ready for 3 to come out. Even so, I love this game series, they're probably my favorite shooters.

Replayed Mass Effect 1 2 times, almost done the third.
Replayed Mass Effect 2 2 times, planning on a third after ME1.
I think it was because of the totally different game playing styles. Started out as a biotic. Then a soldier. Then a sniper. It's really different game play. Especially in ME2 with the charge feature. So much fun.

Dragon Age? So many started games that were abandoned. Because in my opinion, the only fun class is a Mage. Melee is so boring in that game. Especially two handed, egad so slow!

Fair enouygh with Mass Effect 1, takes a while to get into a game.
But Mass Effect 2? I'm currently playing through for the eighth time. I can't get enough of it.

I've having this issue with ME2, as I wanted to do one final run as my Infiltrator again, since it was my first class and didn't even reach lv30 since I had no exp booster like my replays, and I finally have all the DLC. Not played Overlord or Arrival yet, did do Shadow Broker, so I even have incentive to get on with this newest playthrough, but I just can't get myself to do it. Partionally this is because I already beat the game 4 times earlier, as Infiltrator, Soldier, Vanguard, and Adept.

Well, and I think that sniper ammo counts are so goddam low isn't helping. I want to play like a sniper, not with my goddam SMGs.
