having played both mass effect (both) and dragon age, i can't help but feel that once Bioware finishes making ME3 and DA2, the logical step should be a mass effect version of dragon age origins
its practiclly tailor made when you think of it
in dragon age you have 3 races (human dwarf, elf)
way i see it, you can have up to six different races to chose from (human, asari, quarian, krogen, turian, salarian)
each with their own unique origin story
as a quarian you start on the flotila, and then go on your pilgrimage.
as a krogen, you start out with your right of passage and then go from there.
some races can have two different origins (Turian C-sec officer/rebel, or Asari mercenary/agent) depending on class choices.
hell the class system makes it even MORE clear in potential
in dragon age, you have 3 classes (warrior, rouge, mage), with a specific race limitation for dwarfs (no mage)
mass effect has 6 classes, that are divided into 3 main skill types (combat, tech, biotics)
the required division is almost absurdly easy to spot
1)humans can have all six classes
2)turians can only have combat and tech skill trees (soldier, engineer, or infiltrator)
3)krogen MUST have combat skills with optional biotic (either soldier or vanguard)
4)asari MUST have biotics (sentinal, adapt, or vangard)
5)salarians MUST have tech, and cant have biotic (either engineer or infiltrator)
and quarians are either like turians (combat and tech) or like salarians (must have tech, and no biotics)
the Mass effect universe is practically BUILT for this sort of thing.
