Rook:

"Was wondering when the other ton of muscle and armour was going to get up here," Rook remarked as he lowered the soda gun and looked over the counter and towards the doorway. "Thought you might have already marched on Meer and his men by yourself."

He then leaned over the counter, resting one arm on it, and grabbing a fresh glass with another, all while giving an over the top smile.

"Now, I can't get you a ryncol, or anything else that'll leave you looking down blurred sights for the next couple hours, but I have discovered that this things serves 6 different flavours of Tupari," he said as he filled the glass with ice. "But what can I get you?"

"Why dont you try racket ball?" Ocara chimed in, as he entered the room where his comrades were gathered, a towel around his shoulders and a Turian sports drink in his hand. He had dressed down when he returned to base and had put on his normal sparring attire for a quick warm down session against the sparring robots. Usually Ocara chose to relax with a drink or a quick line of sand, but recently, he had decided that perhaps he should pursue healthier options, in moderation of course.

"I'm sure one of the techies can program a sparring bot to play some kind of sport with you that requires more than just your fists" contiued the Turian as he took a drink from his bottle.

"You never know Dregger, even you might grow bored of battle if its all you do" he finished with a smile as he leant against a nearby wall.

"Well I have a bit of work to do. I'll be in the armory if any of you feel like having a very short conversation." With that Dregger took the elevator to the armory and went to work preparing for the fight to come.

He took off his new armor and began repainting it in the company colors. Now that he had spilled blood with Aegis, he was ready to commit. He painted the whole thing black then put a layer of orange on the forearms, shins, and collar area. then he slapped the logo on both shoulders. After that he cleaned it and inspected it for flaws. He never let anyone else handle his equipment. When he was done, he put it back on and looked at himself. Hmm, the colors are actually intimidating. I like it.

Then he began to clean his guns.

20 Minutes Pass:

Keith:

Keith could hear the yelling from the workshop. He could hardly make out the words, but he knew it was two of the Batarians. They had been at it with one another for the past ten minutes at least. Keith leaned back in his chair and sighed as he looked over to the door, wondering whether he should finally check in on what had been happening. Resting his torch back on the table and removing his goggles, he decided it?d be best to check it out before fists started flying, if they hadn?t already. He covered his project back up with its tarp before walking into the hall and into the training room across from him.

The yelling didn?t stop as the door opened. Neither bothered to pay any attention to Keith walking in, but he caught the eyes of both Xiev and Verdix.

?Your efforts?! YOUR FUCKING EFFORTS?!? Pallat screamed as he continued to pace in circles. ?If it wasn?t for your efforts, neither me, Xiev, Pallat, Verdix, or even Janx would be conscripted into cannon fodder roles, waiting to be thrown out to a mad Krogan to buy time or cover!?

?If it wasn?t for me, you?d either still be looking for work at one of the ports, or have signed up with some other fucking gang and gotten yourself killed far sooner!? Karnak yelled back.

?That would have been my choice, but what about Xiev? Pallat? You think they deserve this as well?!?

Xiev and Pallat both glanced at each other before awkwardly looking away. Neither of them wanted to be forced to take sides over this fight.

?You think I wanted to have any of you dragged into this? You think it was my idea to ask Verahl to have the lot of you brought in for this? I didn?t want it. Janx didn?t want---?

?Oh come on, Janx was ready to jump for an opportunity such as this. All of us know that, but you didn?t need to get the rest of us---?

?For the last fucking time, it wasn?t my idea or order! Trust me Pallat, you are not high on the list of people I want watching my back when bullets start flying!?

?Oh, thanks, that coming from the pirate scum of the Linshi Systems.?

?What did you just call me,? Karnak said. He didn?t yell or scream at Pallat. Instead, his voice took on a cold, and clear tone, as his eyes focused glaring on Pallat. His fists started to clench, as his shoulders locked back, and his arms were tensed.

?Pirate scum,? Pallat hissed. ?It?s all that you are.?

Janx:

Janx opened his Omni-tool as it flashed, indicating a new message. His attention had been focused on the Skyllian Five poker game that had started up a while ago. The second Turian, the one in casual wear, had returned with it after Haley asked for it again. The other still remained behind the bar, practicing mixing a few drinks, as he watched. The Krogan that had sat a few tables back, checking his weapons and armour, had wandered back into the base a few minutes ago.

?I?ll raise,? Ocara said as he glanced at his hand once more. ?Let?s say... 200.?

He tossed the four chips into the middle of a small sized pot, as he turned to his left, looking at Haley.

?Bastards,? she muttered as she tossed her hand down. Ocara smiled as he looked up at Janx, ready for his call.

?What about you?? he asked, but Janx was hardly paying attention.

?You?ve got to get down here!? Verdix repeated into the comm, before letting out a small groan. ?We need help!?

?You still in this?? the Turian repeated.

?I fold on this one,? Janx said as he rushed out of his seat and towards the doors of the base. ?Throw my ante on my turn, but hold me out until I?m back.?

Keith:

Keith grabbed Pallat from behind, trying to hold his arms back and pulling him with the rest of his strength. Xiev and Verdix had grabbed Karnak as well, doing the same to try and create as much distance as possible between the two. Pallat kept struggling and bucking Keith around as he tried to mantain his grab. His grip had started to slip though, and before Keith could realize it, Pallat's elbow shot back and high, straight into the side of his face.

At that point Keith released his grip and stumbled backwards, trying to regain his composure. Before he could get balanced though, Pallat's boot rocket straight into his chest, catching him completely unprepared. Keith fell to the blow, and was sent into a rack of weights and dumbbells behind him.

Free from Keith?s attempt to immobilize him, Pallat rushed forwards towards Karnak, still being held by Xiev and Verdix. Unable to defend himself, Pallat struck, catching the left side of Karnak?s jaw with a fierce right hook. Xiev released Karnak at that moment, trying to stop Pallat from getting in another blow, but with Verdix suddenly being left as the only one to hold Karnak back, he quickly broke free.

In three short steps, Karnak had closed the distance to where Xiev had driven Pallat back. With his right hand, Karnak grabbed the back of Xiev?s collar, pulling him off of Pallat so nothing was between the two of them. While he did this though, he took a quick step forward, using his momentum to put weight behind his next blow.

Pallat was unable to block Karnak?s punch. The jab was quick, and connected with his throat. Reflexively, he stumbled back, grabbing his throat as his breathing was disrupted. Karnak continued to capitalize on his vulnerable stance, and with a final right hook, connected with Pallat?s left eyes.

With that, Pallat lay sprawled out on the floor. He writhed around, disoriented and in pain as he began to let out a few quiet groans.

Janx:

Janx ran into the training room in time to catch the final hook thrown by Karnak that sent Pallat to the ground. Verdix, Xiev, and Keith stood still for a moment as they assessed what had happened. Keith looked at Karnak, and back at Pallat, before looking back at Janx and having an uncomfortable expression cross his face.

?I?m just going to, er? Should I get Miles??

Karnak?s stopped staring off, and turned his gaze to Keith who was nervously shifting his feet around and inching towards the door. He continued to stare at him as Keith got closer and closer to the door.

?I?ll take that as a no, but just yell if you need me to fetch him,? he said as he turned away from staring at Karnak, bumping into Janx as he passed through the door. ?Sorry.?

Verdix was kneeling beside Pallat, whispering to him, trying to determine what was best to do. Xiev stood a few feet back, keeping focused on Pallat, ready to do whatever was asked, but not wanting to get much closer than where he was.

?What happened?? Janx asked as he approached Karnak.

?He knows not to run his mouth,? Karnak said as his gaze returned back to Pallat, still sprawled out on the ground. ?After all we fucking did for him.?

?He?s just upset by this Kar, none of us really wanted to be thrown into this---?

?You think this is what I wanted as well? I wanted---?

?I know, I know, I?m not blaming you here,? Janx said as he motioned with his hands for Karnak to try and remain calm. ?None of us are, except him, right?... Right??

?Uh, no, wait, I mean ya,? Xiev said, after being nudged by Janx to speak up. ?Me and Verdix don?t blame you. I?m sure Pallat doesn?t really either, he?s just, well, wound up.?

?Karnak, Karnak look at me,? Janx said as he snapped his fingers to interrupt Karnak?s vision. ?None of us blame you for this. You?ve helped each of us out here. You?ve been looking out for each of us since we landed on Omega. None of us think that you?ll stop now, or that you?re going to march us straight to our ends. We all still trust you, and appreciate what you?ve done.?

The distant, unattached look in Karnak?s eyes faded as he shook his head a bit, and started to focus on Janx. Janx knew that it had been tough on Karnak as well, and that he hated that they had been forced to serve with him. Each of them owed much to him, their jobs, their homes, their friendship. If Karnak hadn?t been looking out for them, each would still be on the bottom rung of Omega, cast in with thousands of other Batarian refugees that landed on the station with nothing.

?Go get yourself ready,? Janx said as he patted Karnak on the shoulder. ?We?ll get Pallat sorted, and prepare ourselves. Don?t get too worked up about all of this. We?ll be right behind you on this.?

?Thanks,? Karnak said as he stepped away from Janx, and towards the door. ?I promise you, I?ll get you all through this, or else??

His voice trailed off as he stepped through the doors, and turned down the hall to go towards the armoury. It was time for him to get his equipment ready, and prepare himself for the next mission like the rest of the company.

Despite only know like 2 of those characters beforehand, that was pretty touching. It would be hilarious if it was done by Elcors though.

Lux:

?Done?? Lux asked as he looked over Dregger?s shoulder. He inspected the contents of the pack quickly, checking to see that all the charges and detonator were properly placed and stored, before nodding. ?Good, put it on the trolley.?

Lux watched as Dregger placed the final pack onto the trolley. On the bottom, was a large crate that had been packed first. On top of the crate, were three smaller packs, designed to be slung over the shoulder and carried by a single person. These packs had been filled with a small variety of charges, destined to level the selected targets owned by Meer?s company.

Pausing for a moment, as he looked at the trolley, Lux thought again over the briefing and information Verahl had messaged him and Raven about. Verahl?s contacts had been able to update some basic information on who they were up against. It appeared, that after being thrown out from Aegis, Meer had joined up with the Split Moons , a company of mercenaries, that originally focused on private police duties. While it had been suspected before that he had signed on with them, it was not until after the assassination of Sieus, one of their lieutenants, by Esten, that it could be confirmed. Not even a minute after the shot had been taken, transmissions had been intercepted over his death. This meant that the only step left, was to finally narrow down the target buildings, and strike.

As Lux moved towards the trolley, thinking over what would happen that evening, the doors opened from the hall, and Karnak walked in. The two stood in silence for a moment, as each caught the others eyes, before Lux gave a sigh, and turned back to the trolley.

?Get these loaded onto the Gauntlet,? Lux said to Dregger as he walked past Karnak and to the doors of the armoury. ?As soon as I find Raven, the rest will be set.?

Dregger began loading when Karnack asked him, "Do you really think this is a good idea?"

"Who cares. I'm looking for a fight and Lux is providing one. Besides, these are my favorite kind of odds." Then he kept loading as a smile slowly crept onto his face.

As he had nothing better to do at the moment, John began to do a systems check of his gear. Running a diagnostic program, he found nothing out of the ordinary until he checked the kinetic barrier on his armour.

In an instant a blue flash light up the bar as John fell from where he was sitting. Getting up, the air around him thick with the smell of ozone, he swore loudly. "GODDAMN PIECE OF SHIT!!! I JUST FUCKING SERVICED IT LAST WEEK!" Rebooting his omni tool he surveyed the damage. "Fuck, barrier is toast. I don't have time for this shit." Muttering streams of profanity under his breath, John went back to his weapons to make sure the overloading barrier hadn't damaged any of them.

Raven marched into the loading bay loaded for war. Hopefully this will flush the Meer into the open so we can end this shitstorm. The Split Moons wont sacrifice themselves for him. Nodding to Lux as he entered the Gauntlet, he activated his omnitool and brought up the base communications relay. "All right guys we're ready to head out and take the fight to the scumbags who are sheltering Meer. We're going to divide into four squads to attack key targets across Omega. Dregger, John, Treven, and Brooks will be with Lux as Squad 1. Janx, Verdix, Xiev, and Pallat will be with Karnak as Squad 2. Ocara, Sal, and Haley will be with me as Squad 3. Everyone else will remain behind as Squad 4 for emergency response. Report to the loading bay in ten. Raven out."

Satisfied, he mentally reviewed the layouts of their intended targets as he waited for his crew to arrive.

Karnak:

Karnak froze as he heard the squads being listed. It suddenly felt as though a hundred pound weight had been dropped straight into his gut. Janx, Verdix, Xiev, and Pallat, not even one was to be held back in the wings, but were all deployed on a front line role, and on top of that, under his command. It was the first time he had ever been placed in charge of others, and to have them under his responsibility made him shudder.

As Karnak stood dazed, still holding his elbow pad half way up his wrist, he heard the door open behind him. He didn?t turn to face it, instead prompting to resume putting his armour on, trying to forget the shock that had come over him.

?Karnak?? the voice asked. It was Xiev. He paused before speaking again. He was just as nervous as Karnak. ?So, so I guess you?ll be leading us in then??

?Yes,? Karnak said, still facing the lockers as he continued putting his armour on. He was trying to remain as stoic as possible.

Xiev stood silent for a moment. Karnak could hear the door close behind him, and Xiev awkwardly adjusting his feet as he thought over what to say next. It made the weight in Karnak?s gut feel even heavier.

?Look, Karnak,? he began, trying to word what he was about to say as carefully as he could, thinking about each one he was using. ?I know, I know Pallat is pissed at you, blaming you for what has happened. But he?s not angry at you because he?s here. He?s upset that Verdix is. I mean, we all know he deserves better than this. He?s earned it, hasn?t he??

?I know,? Karnak replied quietly as he pulled on his boot.

?And I mean, well,? Xiev paused again as he thought about what he was saying once more. He closed his eyes, and stopped fluffing up what he was saying, trying to drive straight to the point. ?Just make sure he gets out of there. If it?s me or him, or him against any of us, make sure he gets out of here. He?s the only one of us that has real potential. He?s the one that deserves to be working somewhere far better than as a bouncer in a club on the ass end of Omega.?

Karnak stood still for a moment, as he adjusted his gloves. He had all of his armour on now. He looked over it quietly. He ran his hand down his arm, following the orange band he had painted on it down from his shoulder to his wrist.

?I will.?

He reached into his locker and took out his rifle. He attached it to his back, and grabbed his pistol and shotgun, doing the same before turning back to face Xiev.

?I promise.?

Xiev nodded. A silence fell between the two of them.

?I?ll make sure the others are ready,? Xiev said as he turned back towards the door. ?We?ll meet you on the roof shortly.?

?Ok,? Karnak said as he still stood by his locker, watching the doors close as Xiev left.

"Ooh-rah" exclaimed Ocara as he stood from his leaning position against the wall and pumped his fist in the air. It was finally time to stop playing defence and avenge their fallen comrades, and even though nothing would bring them back, killing Meer and whoever was sheltering him would at least provide some sense of closure on the matter.

It took Ocara about ten minutes until he was prepared and ready, sitting in his seat aboard the gauntlet, but none of that time had been wasted and now he was fully prepared to finish this nasty affair... Thus, of course, making way for some new nasty afair.

Such was life on Omega.

Preven let out a sigh of relief as he he heard the announcement. Not on the front lines. Only for emergencies. He thought happily while his guard relaxed, barely even looking out from his post, banking on the enemy not attacking while they were just about to.

Terina heard the message relayed over the base. Emergency response. Figures. The new guys needed to prove themselves, and the older recruits had proven themselves more able than she had. Disappointing, but there was no one to blame but herself. Still, at least she wasn't alone. She hadn't heard Paladin's name mentioned, either, which was surprising. Still, if she was going to be emergency response, she was prepared. Sitting in the bar, she continued keeping a close eye on the front door. She would at least do this right.

Clutching his helmet in his right hand, John entered the Gauntlet while still trying to fix his kinetic barriers. "Come on you piece of shit, WORK!" He muttered. After a few more keystrokes on his omni tool, a black and yellow bordered message appeared. "Well fuck, guess its dead then." Rubbing a hand over his face, he put his helmet on and gave a lopsided grin to Lux and Raven. "Guess I'll try not to get shot at too much then."

Paladin hadn't heard his name over the comm, and that would make his a part of the reserve team. He wouldn't be seeing any action, provided everything went well for the others, but he didn't have much of a problem with that. He had seen enough of the others ability, except for the recruits, to know that they could hold their own if things got bad. And he knew the necessity of good back up at the right time. Besides, if the enemy was clever, then they would probably try to make an attack on the base while the rest of the troops were distracted, in that case someone left behind would be absolutely necessary.

He looked over to the other members of the squad that were nearby, and flipped on his omni tool. Connecting to the comma feeds of the other members of the reserve squad, he gave them all the same message. "Alright, since we'll need to be on call to respond at any given moment, we should all head up to the roof, prep the Razor and stand by, I'll meet you up there."

Ethan then went down the elevator to the cargo entrance, he saw the rigged explosives and knew there was no worry about anybody getting to far into the base that way if the bombs were triggered on time. To ensure that he'd know when that was, he went over to a camera mounted on the wall, that was angled well enough to be able to see anyone coming in. He then linked the feed from that camera to his omni tool, and did the same to a few more cameras that would give him a view of the road coming into the club, as well as the common room of the base. If anyone arrived, he would be able to respond. He then made his way up to the roof to meet the others.
