Shit... Missing out on some action already Kyra thought to herself, seeing several of the vetaran mercs getting equipped and heading out. Ah well, I'll see if I can't catch the next deployment.

"I'll be in the training room, if anyone comes lookin for me." She said to Serina and David, as she started in that direction. "Good a way to relieve boredom as any."

Kyra arrived in the training room, and started a weight lifting routine designed to strengthen and tone. She felt good, exercising for the first time since she had gotten out of the hospital. There hadn't been time to until now, with the military booting her off-ship as soon as she had recovered enough to travel.

She planned to move into calisthenics and cardio if she had time, but realized that she could be called to duty at any moment.

"Sometimes going insane is preferable to sitting around doing nothing, Sal.Good luck, good shooting, and if we get unlucky enough, good riddance." She let out a chuckle to know that all she said was in good humor.fuck, this hurts. How long before they leave and I can get out of this armor?

"I'm going to have to talk with Verahl. I'm shocked he's hiring child soldiers,They're green enough that they don't even realize when their names aren't called to be dispatched. Honestly, I'm not even sure if that one knows what's going on around her."

"Hey, Karnak, I've been doing these jobs longer than you've been alive by the look of you, and I've been with more than one merc group brought down by a lucky attack during a lull. I'm not about to let that happen again if I can help prevent it. And let Sal alone, the few Quarians I've seen able to throw a good punch could probably knock those things you call eyes out, granted, they'd probably rupture their suits in the process, but not before they killed you if that was their intention. And as you can see, I do know what's going on around me Srasi." She did quit fiddling with her pistol and put it back into it's casing in her leg joint, though, a bit embarrassed by her habits being outed in the open.

Only reason she's walking around in armor is just in case something goes down, she wants to be ready.

Paladin looked at his own omni tool at the same time as Sal, he'd gotten a similar message and responded by heading to his ship, unlike Sal he hadn't arrived at base wearing full armor and since the other parties at the negotiations had been fully armored before, he wouldn't want to be unprepared should the worst happen. After all, alliances on Omega were tenuous at best, especially in their infancy.

He jogged the short distance to his ship and returned after a few minutes, fully armed and armored.

He arrived in the room after the others had already passed through, seeing two of the new recruits sitting fully kitten he cocked an incredulous eyebrow. But their overzealousness wasn't hurting anyone, just embarrassing them.

And as you can see, I do know what's going on around me Srasi."

"If you're as experienced as you say you are then you should be able to tell friendly ribbing from an honest insult. Further, you should be able to tell being prepared from sitting around in full armor when no one asked anything of you. Finally you should be able to tell when your mouthing off becomes insubordination, why don't you go lie down and think about that before you hurt yourself any more."

Without waiting for Serina to respond, Ethan turned and followed Sal and Karnak out to the landing pad.

Oh, I like him, not too loyal to his namesake though, if my understanding of human culture is correct. Nice, crisp, clean insults though. He could've stayed longer though, or even known what I was talking about. Damn ribs...

Serina watched the squad leave and head towards the landing pad, glad to see some go more than others, though Sal was interesting, any Quarian that left the flotilla was interesting to her. Of course, a Quarian that left the flotilla and joined up with a merc group was more than anything else, fascinating. can't help wondering what they look like outside their suits, guess it'll have to remain a mystery for the time being though. Oh, well, at least I've got one person here I know how far I can trust, but Dave's a bit speechless right now and this messaging system he's got going isn't that great at getting ideas across.

Serina stood, careful not to disturb her right side, and slowly walked to the other end of the room, trying to get used to the brace and her ribs, a few jarring steps into it, she had to remember that she couldn't glide in the same way she normally walked, moving all parts of her body, instead, she'd have to relearn her older way of walking, and moved only her legs, no longer swinging her arms, no more swiftly moving in and out of walking paths, at least for a while.

She made her way back to the chair after a few laps around the room, relearning how to walk having taken more out of her than she expected, must be the drugs, it can't have been anything else and again carefully sat down. She switched her omni-tool to her right arm, knowing that it would be a pain to do anything on it but better than keeping it on her left.

?Unfortunately it seems that manners are one of the rarest resources here on Omega.? Narath caught the can, reading the label carefully as he stood. He cracked it open and was about to take a drink when a thought hit him.

?As much of a cliché as it might be, perhaps a toast is in order.? Narath suggested, raising his can in the air. ?To a future of fame and fortune.? He took a drink and set the can on a counter, kneeling once again to begin unpacking the crate of equipment.

Brooks:

Brooks walked through the doors from the armoury to the training room. He had gone down to do a few quick checks on his armour. While he knew he wouldn't need it at that moment, it never hurt to make sure that the joint motors were all running smoothly and without trouble. Any break down with them while in combat could be catastrophic to him.

Kyra was preparing to do some weight training as he walked in.

"Needing a spotter?" he asked as he approached.

"Couldn't hurt." Kyra responded, getting the bench set up. She decided to start with about 3/4 of her previous maximum, knowing that it took muscles time to build to their peak after time without working them.

"You and Paladin go at it often?" She asked, curious. "Seems like you two were about ready to kill each other back in the kitchen."

Brooks:

"Nah, not really," Brooks replied as he picked up equal weights to match and balance what Kyra put on before taking his position behind the bench. "Politics just gets people heated is all, especially when it's something dear to 'em."

"Surprised though, you don't seem to have much love for the Alliance, what exactly happened anyways?"

Rook:

Rook wandered into the workshop. He had heard that the new Salarian had shown his face, but he hadn't met him yet. All he knew about him were the snippets of conversation about him that Rook had heard from Lux.

"You're Narath, right?" Rook asked as he extended his hand, offering to shake it. "Nice to meet you, I'm Rook."

As he did this, Keith leaned back over to the fridge, and pulled out one of the Dextro-Amino cans of Tupari. He knew Rook was the only other one in the company who loved Tupari as much as him.

Verahl:

Verahl stood in the doorway to the Razor, and watched as Sal, Paladin and Karnak made their ways onto the roof. Sal had the bag of ammo slung over her shoulder. Verahl nodded as he stepped inside the Razor, letting them in, and shutting the door behind them.

"Get yourselves strapped in," he ordered as they filed down the narrow corridor. Esten and Preven were seated at the end, each with rifles leaned on the floor beside them. Raven and Lux were on the opposite end, near Kryxus and the door. When everyone was seated, Verahl leaned his head through the cockpit door. "We're ready."

With that, the Razor's engines could be heard engaging, as the gunship lifted off the roof. It would take some time before they arrived at the meeting.

"They sent me on a mission with the rest of my squad." Kyra said "Into the Skyllian Verge. We were supposed to hit a relatively undefended Batarian supply depot. Our intel was wrong, and because of that, we weren't prepared for the defenses they'd readied."

"We were hit hard when we were about a k from our objective." She continued, voice getting angrier as she remembered the first mines blowing. "The Batarians started the attack by detonating several anti-personnel mines they'd set along the road. Our shields stopped the blasts, but before we could get to cover, they opened up on us with rockets and heavy machine guns. We lost Jason in that volley, they hit him with at least 2 rockets."

"Our squad leader, Valent, got us organized enough so we could execute a fighting retreat. I think he was hoping it would give us enough time to call in reinforcements from the Hastings. We were told to find a defensible location, which was easier said than done. We did end up finding a decent position, but not before we lost two more squadmates, a rookie and another that I never got a chance to know." Kyra said, regretting that missed opportunity. "We wound up pinned down in a small rock formation, with enough outcroppings that we could stay behind cover. We held that position for at least 20 minutes, under constant rocket and heavy weapons fire, and the only response we could get from our ship was "Hold your position". They wouldn't even tell us if help was on the way or not."

"Shortly after the last transmission, one of them got lucky with a grenade and killed our radio operator, Kong Zien, destroying the transmitter in the process. With him down, one of our flanks opened up, and we were unable to hold those assholes off. Valent was hit by a sniper as he tried to back up my position. He didn't die right off, but with him out, I knew I wasn't going to make it out. I got hit, and the next thing I remember, I was back on the Hastings, in a hospital bed." she said sadly. "They determined that it was my fault that my squad got killed, how I don't know, but, rather than throwing me into the brig, they decided that they'd be better off hitting me with a dishonorable discharge and shipping me off to Omega. You know the rest, after that."

Kyra turned back to working out after she finished, trying to forget that incident by exertion.

Lux:

"Firmly: Verahl, if we are to be a part of this union then Aegis must patrol our drop points and secure our exchanges. The Archons must be willing to comply with this as well. Concerned: If we are going to expand, then we will need both of your troops to protect that expansion."

Lux watched as Darun, the lumbering Elcor and leader of the Azure Shields, "stood" on the far side of the table. Linked to his back cloth by chain was an Asari on a collar, wearing a dress so thin and gauzy that it might as well not have been there. After a small gesture from Darun she unhooked herself from his back and walked around the table carrying rather expensive bottles of wine, giving one to each of the "executives" at the table before moving to the wall behind Darun, following another of his instructions.

The Elcor had been taking his time with the consideration of his positions and requests, either as a tactic for unnerving the other negotiators like his secretary's appearance, or simply because Elcor take time to do everything. For Lux though, it was a slow torture. His patience was wearing thin. He didn?t have much input on the terms anymore. He could lead troops in combat, but when it came to negotiations, he hadn?t the patience or subtlety to make the best compromises.

?We will agree to protect the shipment?s drop points, but they will need to be centralized,? replied Vovdeen, the Salarian leader of the Archons. ?As it stands, currently they are too spread out to cover constantly. If they are to be under our protection, we will centralize them for convenience as well as the ability to better concentrate security efforts.?

?I?m going to check up on the security outside,? Lux whispered to Verahl as he rose from his seat. Lux had enough of hearing the negotiations, he needed a break. He?d get the recap of what they needed from Verahl afterwards.

He opened the doors, and stepped outside of the board room. Vovdeen had secured a set of arbitrator?s offices for the meeting to take place. It was a fitting place for the final terms of this partnership to be arranged. The leadership of the Azure Shields, Archons, and Aegis had all sat down in the large meeting room, with guards from all three organizations posted outside. Lux looked over the lobby, and could see most of the guards there were taking it rather easy. Some were outside patrolling the exterior, while others were on rooftops ensuring it was secured. Lux had ordered Paladin and Lee to monitor the exterior, with Karnak and Sal left to set up in the interior, while Preven and Esten set up their snipers on a nearby rooftop. With the high levels of security, and the location of the meeting only known to the three sets of leadership beforehand, no one really expected any trouble to come to them, but it still would be an opportune time to strike if they were discovered, and so they must all be ready in case anything occurred.

After hearing the engines and seeing the ship take off, Serina again stood, and walked back to her locker, carefully reaching behind her to detach her weapons, leaving the pistol in it's compartment near her knee. After, she slowly stripped off her armor, though after the short stint in it, she had finally gotten used to the weight on her rib and she was somewhat sad to have to take it off. Before locking her armor and weapons back up, she took the pouch with painkillers out and tucked it behind her belt. She went to the workshop she had seen the new Salarian go into earlier this morning.

As she opened the door, she heard Keith, she believed was his name and the turian from earlier in the day talking and drinking something, she couldn't quite place the can from her angle, with the Salarian. Walking out, she attempted to join the small conversation, "Hello, Keith, Rook.Hey, Narthex, is it? I'm Serina." she tipped her head slightly to each in turn, for the Salarian, she added in a simple greeting given in the Salarian language, though probably slightly garbled, it'd been a few years since she had spoken it.

"Do you know the reason we're here at all, Esten?" Preven said, as he was giving a quick look at the calm street below. It doesn't seem like much is going on.Preven thought, sitting back and stretching while waiting for Esten to answer.

"Why yes, I am Narath. It's a pleasure to meet you Rook. I assume you're one of the regular employees here at Aegis yes?" Narath stood and shook the Turian's hand, grabbing his can of Tupari from its resting place. He did have awhile before any sort of results, or even work, had to happen, so it couldn't hurt to meet some more of his coworkers.

Just as he was about to suggest moving to a new room, a Asari walked into the workshop. She seemed polite enough, though the greeting in his own language caught him off guard.

"Er, my name is Narath, but yes, it's very nice to meet you." Narath shifted his weight from one leg to another, trying to puzzle out why Serina would bother using his language in a greeting but not do the same for Rook.

"Sorry, I meant no disrespect, and I see from that look on your face you're not used to being spoken to in your tongue, Narrath, my father was Salarian and he...*sniff* taught me a few manners," During he pause, she had to hold back a small trickle of tears, but not before one escaped her eye, though she was too busy concentrating on the slight pain from her side and stopping the flood of tears from breaking through to notice.
"I just thought I'd offer my services for minor-*short gasp*- work duties, I heard something about you tweaking with weapons. I don't know much about specifics, but I can manipulate cores to not overheat as quickly, and the like. I can help with the basic things around here,so you can get on to more complicated tweaking." She turned to Keith as she said her final word.
"Or I can help you with getting the most out of the vehicles we have in here."

Esten:

"Orders," Esten replied. His eyes weren't currently pressed down a scope, but rather set to do a broad sweep of the area, unless anything caught his eyes. "If this meeting goes well, and without unexpected incidents, our purpose for being here won't need to be filled."

Paladin stood by a guard from another organization, the group of guards had agreed to occasionally patrol around the exterior of the building, staggering their times and keeping radio contact to ensure that no one could get a drop on them without everyone knowing.

Paladin looked up to where Esten was positioned, He had issues being covered by the rifle of a psychopath, but as long as he didn't murder any more civilians he could resist the occasional urge to wring his cartilage stuffed neck.

Besides he thought, It's not like anyone is going to attack an arbitrators office, The buildings and the services within were famous for being simultaneously discrete and well known. And it was a commonly accepted fact that they were neutral territory, their services were essential in stopping the squabbling merc organizations from escalating their conflict and destroying a wing of the station.

He began his patrol route, walking a lap around the building, occasionally stopping to talk with some of the other guards he had become somewhat acquainted with during the previous negotiations.

Narath remained quiet during Sarina's bout of emotions. Partly because he didn't want to assume any reason for the tears, after all how could he have known whether her father was dead, they had a falling out, or if she was crying for some other reason altogether. The rest of why he didn't feel the need to speak was that he wasn't quite sure how to react. Narath had spent so much of his life learning and studying the scientific parts of the universe, he was almost at a loss on how to behave when other individuals tried to connect with him on a personal level.

The offer of her helping him, though, Narath did know exactly how to react.

"I appreciate your offer, I truly do, but...do you actually have any training in weapons development or any of the related sciences?" as he spoke his face pulled back into a mix of a half-smile and a grimace. On one hand he didn't want to insult her, he had heard terrible things about what pissed-off Asari had done, he wasn't exactly keen on giving her full access to any of his projects. Granted, he didn't even have any projects going yet, but Narath wasn't the kind of individual to leave any loose strings.

"Nothing official, just experience, but I've used or seen just about every weapon used in the last century, and give me a bit of time with any weapon and I can tell you how to the get the most out of it with the minimum energy usage or whatever your trying to do." Serina watched the Salarian, trying to puzzle him out, he had a curious look on his face. Most Salarians she'd met were outrageously social, to the point of making her sick sometimes. She assumed he was one of the pure scientist's she'd occasionally come across in her travels, the kind that was more at home in his lab than anyplace else.

"Look, I'm just looking to do something somewhat helpful over the next few weeks while my ribs re-knit themselves. I don't like sitting around, and I abhor doing nothing while everyone else is either on a job or doing something back here at base. So, if you don't think I can help you, I can find something else to do. You were my first stop because it was the least strenuous work I could think of. The rumors floating around here were that you were a weapons maker, by the looks of this place, you are."
