After the initial argument died down, Preven just stared at his hands for several moments, not reeally sure how, or even if he should try, to break the silence. Glancing up, Preven could see a similar sort of nervousness paralysing most of the others in place.

The distinction between most was important though, as one of the less perturbed people was looking at Preven the same way people looked at particularly rotten trash.

Scowling in return, Preven racked his brain, trying(And failing) to place a name on the human he had engaged in a staring contest with. Must be new. And a racist Thought Preven, after his brain picking only vaguely brought up a comment about dropping asteroids on a Turian colony, just for the civilian casualties, to associate with this unknown Human.

Brooks:

Brooks had enough of Paladin's belittling. Despite bending over and doing whatever the Alliance had asked of them, they still had left Liberty's Harvest far from prepared for anything, betting on the fact that it was a bit further back from the edge of the Verge than other colonies.

The Alliance had wagered with their lives, and lost, and Brooks wouldn't stand for having the blame put on those that lived and died there.

He rose quickly, and placed his foot against the stool, using it to push off as he vaulted over the counter, sending dishes and cutlery scattering out of his way as he leaped at Paladin.

Paladin tried to sidestep, but the 190 pounds of pissed off colonial charged him too fast to get out of the way. He brought up his hands to hit Brooks, but the man barreled into his chest, sending the both of them crashing against the fridge. Paladin brought his hands down on Brooks' back when they collided, and began to writhe, trying to break free of his grip.

Caught in the vice grip of Brooks, but still having his arms and his legs free Paladin took his chance. He wrapped his arm around Brooks' head and gripped it in a headlock, before wrapping his leg behind Brooks' knee. He used the position to destabilize Brooks and leaned forward, shifting the inertia and bringing him down onto his back.

Brooks pulled quickly as he landed, and weaved his head out from between Paladin?s arms before he could fully lock him. Free of Paladin?s grip, and with a momentary opening, Brooks quickly pulled his chest up, pushing off the ground with his left hand to bring his back from the ground. He swung a haymaker with his right, aimed towards Paladin?s head. The punch went around Paladin?s arms, and clocked him high on his left cheek.

Paladin took the blow to his face and reeled back before clenching his fists. He tucked into a slight crouch, before moving back towards Brook. The two began to circle behind the island counter, with their fists clenched and raised, as Dray cowered on top of the back counter pressed against the wall.

Kyra was listening to the argument, wondering why they had chosen today to make their differences known. Suddenly, Brooks vaulted the bar and tackled Paladin.

"Ah hell" Kyra muttered, knowing that this could get out of hand if somebody didn't put a stop to it soon. She waited for the 2 men to break, then jumped over the counter and stepped between them, facing Brooks as he was the one who initiated the fight. "BACK OFF!" She shouted, shoving him away before turning to Paladin. "You two are old enough to know better!"

Sal jumped from her stool with a yelp as Brooks tackled Paladin. She watched as Kyra tried to breack up the fight. "It's no use Kyra, you should know that once soldiers get going they can't stop. It's worse with mercs half the time." She glared at Paladin and Brooks, "However they shouldn't be fighting here, there's a sparring ring downstairs for a reason."

Brooks:

Brooks continued to glare at Paladin over Kyra's shoulder. He could see the area bellow his eye starting to bruise. It'd darken soon enough and turn into a nice black-eye.

Satisfied with his work, Brooks moved to his left towards the wall counters. Kyra shuffled along with him, keeping in-between the two of them still.

"Relax," Brooks said, his voice ringing with a cocksure tone. He bent down and picked up his jacket from the floor, and started to put his arm through it. "Just having a bit of, fun, is all. Still boys at heart and such."

He continued to keep a wide grin as he walked back around the island counter, and began down the hallway. He stopped a moment when he passed by his seat, and turned back to Paladin.

"Oh, and you might want to ask Haley for a favor," he mocked as he looked over his shoulder. "See if you can lend you some cover-up or something to fix that broken ass face of yours... Actually, nah, forget it, that welt is still the least offensive part of it."

Paladin took a few steps back, then walked a few paces behind Kyra to the other side of the counter. When Brooks said that it was just a bit of fun he shrugged, keeping his eyes on Brooks,

"exactly, politics is always a touchy subject."

As Brooks told him to get cover up, he looked back at the antagonist, "Why, did something happen?" he lifted his hand to his face and touched the bruise.

"Oh! you hit me, sorry I didn't notice, last time I was hit so softly I was playing with my daughter. If we're giving advice, you might want to go down and get some time on the punching bag."

Seeing the fight wasn't likely to continue, Kyra let the comments slide. No sense in getting into anymore trouble for the moment. She walked back around the bar, and returned to her seat.

"This type of thing happen often?" she asked Sal, wanting to know if she needed to keep her guard up. Fights were rare in her squad, mostly because they were experienced enough to know that they didn't exactly help with the morale of the group.

David smirked as Brooks leapt over the counter. No matter where you go, some things never change. He thought. As the two men brawled, he took another step away from his seat. I really don't want to catch a wayward fist on my first day.

"You two are old enough to know better!"

Raising an eyebrow he smirked, impressed with the young woman's guts. Not many would be willing to wade in between to meatheads as they squared off. As the tension seemed to ease, the two combatants started to snip at each other...this was too good an opportunity to pass up.

"Hey! If you two really want to see whose dick is bigger why don't you just drop trou and save the rest of us from your bickering. Who knows? If you're lucky maybe one of these ladies will offer to do the measuring." Laughing at his own joke, David made his way back to the coffee. "Even for a salarian you seem high strung...you okay?" He said as he moved past Dray.

"This type of thing happen often?"

Sal nodded, "From time to time, usually after a bad mission. Everyone's pissed and frustrated, someone takes one small misstep, and what would normally be ignored turns into a company wide argument. Which usually ends with Verhal shouting and putting a hole in the wall and glaring at everybody for a few days. Not something many people enjoy, Ver is fair but he's a scary guy when he get's angry." She explained to Kyra. "A few to many people have been on the receiving end of the anger, myself included." She said sitting back down.

Paladin sat back down on a stool, and cupped his cheek under his hand, "Hey dray, got anything in the freezer I could use as an ice pack?" The Salarian, still huddled in something approximating the fetal position was unresponsive, so Ethan simply walked up and looked through the freezer himself.

He found a frozen bag of peas, and pressed it against his face, the sealed plastic meant that he could simply return it to the frozen embrace of the machine and the crew would still be able to eat them. The frigid temperature helped numb the pain and helped with the swelling.

"A few too many people have been on the receiving end of the anger, myself included."

"And me, he got me good, I ended up practically clearing out Miles' supply of pain killers. Although, like you said, it was fair, I made a mistake, I took my licks."

The last thing Narath wanted to hear when he passed through the doors separating the bar from Aegis?s actual facilities was the sound of objects breaking. He had heard that the various pieces of equipment he had ordered to conduct his studies were delivered yesterday, but he still couldn?t shake that nagging feeling that one of the more physical employees of the company had somehow unboxed them and were using them to play catch or something similarly destructive.

With a sigh Narath began walking towards the kitchen, the origin of the noise. He couldn?t help but rethink his reasons for being here. Sure he had gotten full funding through Aegis, and they were even kind enough to provide him with a workspace and volunteers to test his inventions, but developing prototype weapons was delicate business, and Narath was uncomfortable with any chance of his work being interrupted.

As he paused in front of the door, steeling himself for the worst, Narath heard various voices, presumably discussing the damage or events leading up to it. This, to him, was a good sign, because as a child Narath could remember the deathly silence that always fell over a room when he or a sibling had broken something that didn?t belong to them. Now a bit calmer, Narath walked through the doors and found himself looking at a mess of food and table settings scattered around the floor. A wave of relief swept through him, visibly relaxing his stance and expression, and he began to walk towards his new colleagues. His still was anxious to set up his workspace, for though this equipment wasn?t broken here, it could still be broken elsewhere.

?Greetings. I assume you all will be my new co-workers yes? My name is Narath Merkan, and I was wondering if one of you would be able to show me to your workshop? I realize this isn?t the best of introductions, but I?m nervous about quite a bit of equipment which was recently delivered.?

Hey, New player here. I just thought I'd give a quick little overview for Narath before the actual ref gets posted. He's a Salarian Weapons developer who was hired on to help Aegis get a technical edge over any competition.

Keith:

Keith ran up the stairs to the common room. He tripped over the final one, and stumbled down the hall slightly. He was able to catch himself though instead of tripping to the floor, and continued to rush down to the kitchen.

"Haley just told me ya showed--- So that's why Brooks had egg on his shirt," trailed off Keith as he looked around at the damage done to the kitchen. He glanced around for a moment, before turning his attention back on the Salarian. "Narerth, right? I've been getting ?erything set up downstairs for ya, but ya might wanna come look over most of it yourself. I'm far more familiar with the engines on the Gauntlet and Razor than 'erything I've been looking at for the past some hours."

He grabbed a piece of toast knocked off its plate on the counter, and began nibbling on it.

"C'mon," he said as he turned around, but kept looking over his shoulder at the Salarian. "My workshop's still one level down."

Knox had watched the fight off from the distance, not knowing if he should step in or not. But it was over quickly, so he thought Eh, fuck it and continued munching on his breakfast. After he'd finished, he had nothing more to do, so he just sat at the bar, staring into space.

After a minute, he noticed a Salarian he wasn't familiar with, and watched him thoughtfully, not knowing what to make. He seemed friendly enough, but Knox knew full well how much of a ruse a kind mask could be.

?Oh you?ve already began setting up? Excellent, that will save quite a bit of time.? As Keith began walking off, Narath followed close behind. He was a bit disappointed that he didn?t have a chance to talk much to any of the others, but the time for that would come later. Right now, he had to focus on getting himself set up to do the job he was getting paid to do.

?I?m sorry did you happen to mention your name? You obviously already know mine and I?d feel a bit awkward calling you ?the nice fellow taking me to my workspace.?? As Narath halfheartedly chuckled at his own attempt at humor, he couldn?t help but wonder at how exactly his equipment had been set up. At best he would need to do some rearranging so things were just how he liked them, and at worst the entire setup would have to be taken down and rebuilt from scratch. Either way Narath was glad to have a colleague with some scientific know-how.

Serina had just finished her morning training routine when she decided that food was what she needed to keep going. After a short detour to her room to change she started working her way to the kitchen. She'd only been back on Omega for a few months and with Aegis only a couple of weeks, but she figured even if it was full of humans, they were good enough for this century.

She walked into the room just as the fight was ending, seeing the Salarian, Drayson, she thought his name was, on the floor, she had to quickly regain control of herself. She quickly scanned the room for the possible perpetrator and easily found him, a human clutching a bag of peas to his head. She poured herself a cup of coffee, one of the few human things she had found a fondness for, and put in her standard two milks, a tablespoon of spice Drayson kept around the kitchen somewhere half the time, and a sugar cube. Seeing Dray still on the ground, she pushed past the pea-bag human saying, "watch yourself, scruffy.", and helped the Salarian back on his feet, and after a few pats on the back, he went back to his cooking duties. She then sat back on her stool, sipping her coffee now that it was the right temperature and said, "Dray, get me some eggs with grilled apples in there, don't skimp on that spice either." She then winked at him and gave him one of her half-smiles she'd found to be exceptionally winning.

New character here, Asari Sentinel. she's here for the steady money more than anything else, and if you haven't guessed already, she has a thing for Salarians.

Savouring his second cup of coffee, David watched as new arrivals came and went. As the newly arrived Asari sat down, he dropped into a seat beside her. "Hey I'm David." He said, sticking out his hand. "Since you're the only known biotic I've seen, I figured I'd say hi." Letting lose a yawn that threatened to unhinge his jaw, he took a deep drink of coffee. Goddamn I need a new bed. "So you been on this oversized insane asylum long?"

The instant that the human sat down next to her and offered his hand, Serina's eyes changed to a color and consistency of cobalt, and her smile melted off of her face. With a slow turn of her head, she couldn't help but notice the slight surprised look on his face, and allowed herself an inside laugh at his expense. She then, in a bored voice and a derisive snort at the human's hand, she said,"look honey, I'm not here to be your friend, your *****, or anything but another merc on the same team. Do your job right, stay alive, and maybe I'll tolerate you. Now, get away from me before I rip you apart. Go on, get out before your mother calls you home. And kid, by the way, if you feel the need to yawn near me again, try and remember the joy of having the ability to speak."
Her smile and twinkle eyes returned as she turned back to the Salarian behind the stove.
"Hey, Drayson, didn't I tell you not to skimp on that spice, lay it on me."
She smiled as she was given her plate and dug into her meal with relish. After this, it's back to the training room, that is, unless Verahl has a job planned for us already.A partner would give me someone to spar against
"Actually...Dave,right? I'm about to hit the training room again, wanna join me?"

Knox noticed the new Asari girl, and had a slight attraction to her...but all that changed once she opened her mouth. Sheesh, what a *****... he thought with a lazy look over to her, and then back to his empty plate. He thought about maybe asking Dray for some more bacon, when he got the chance.

David was caught a little off guard when the Asari snapped at him. It is far too early for me to be dealing with a raging **** like that...politely. Letting a mask of indifference slide across his face, he stood and made to leave.

Redryhno said:
"Actually...Dave, right? I'm about to hit the training room again, wanna join me?"
With that the mask vanished, to be replaced by a slightly unsettling grin. "Sure toots, but first I gotta ask. You trying to take Aria's position as biggest **** on the station, or did someone shove a Vorcha up your ass?" Setting his cup on the counter, he lent towards Serina and whispered in her ear. "Come on blueberry, let's see what you got." Moving to the elevator quickly, he stepped inside, holding the door. "You coming with, or are you gonna keep fantasizing 'bout the cook?"
