Terina nodded. "As simple as that, eh? Just forget the mission, and move on." She grabbed her drink. "Never been too good with failing, though. Brings me to a bad time."

"I'll drink to that Ocara" Paladin grabbed his drink off the bar and raised in in a toast. "Sláinte" then drank it down. "And I know nobody got hurt, but this was too damn close, if somebody coughed wrong it could have all gone to hell, I've already lost someone I care about, I don't want to lose friends too. And Terina, I had you in the back, so if things went bad, you guys could hit them hard, without warning. But it was my order, my fault."

Karnak:

Karnak woke up shortly before the others had arrived back. He had gone up to see if Verahl might have had anything for him to do, but found him in a conversation on his Comms. Rather than interrupt him, he decided to get a decent meal into him before going back.

He walked down the stairs and back to the first level, and went to the kitchen. He looked around, but was surprised when he realized that Dray wasn't around.

Where has that Salarian gone to now?

He called his name out a couple times, only for Keith to come up the stairs from the workshop.

"What you want Ver--- Karnak! The Doc told me you were awake!" Keith said enthusiastically as he walked down the hall towards him. "Great to see you're back on your feet."

Karnak simply nodded, at Keith as he approached. An awkward silence soon came up between the two of them as Keith's smile slowly faded, as he remembered how uncomfortable things had been normally between the two of them.

"Where's Dray?" Karnak eventually asked him.

"I have no idea where he's gone off to," Keith said as he scratched the back of his head thinking. "Hell, I don't know when I last saw him come to think of it. He got me breakfast earlier, but I haven't seen him since. Maybe he's off getting groceries or something."

He mumbled on about a few more possibilities before going back down the stairs to the workshop. Karnak sighed as he went to the fridge and checked through its contents. He eventually decided he'd have one of the noodle dishes Dray had cooked before. He heated it up and took his first bite, experiencing the flavours that he hadn't had for weeks.

Still goes a bit to heavy on the spices.

Karnak soon finished his meal and as he cleaned up, he could hear everyone walking down the stairs from the rooftop. While the elevator could hold several of them, it couldn't take the whole company down in one trip, so often times a few would wind up walking back down. He saw Esten walk by with a sour look as he wondered what had gone wrong.

Someone get hurt?

The others didn't seem too upset though, he concluded it was probably Esten who was just more annoyed by something. He watched as Ocara followed soon after, with a few cuts and scrapes across his face.

I wonder if that's a scratch or a bite.

He sat silently as the others passed before walking back up to the office. Now the doors had been shut though, and he could hear Verahl yelling at someone from them. He deciding interrupting it would only bring about problems for himself as he walked back down to the common room. He finally sat down in one of the couches and put his feet up on the table. He checked his Omni-Tool for the time, and sighed as he realized how it was still only the early afternoon. He closed his eyes and took a few deep breathes to relax himself as he tried to think of a few ways he might be able to waste some time.

Raven eased into the remaining chair before nodding in agreement. "The rookies may have inadvertently caused the company a major shitstorm. I shouldn't have left Paladin in charge of that team." Glancing at Verahl, he downed some of his liquor before continuing, "What's the worst case scenario for this?"

Verahl:

Verahl took another sip from his ale, savouring it unlike the other two as he placed his glass back down on the coaster he had near him. He then leaned slightly over the table as he placed his elbows on it, and interlocked his fingers.

"Worst case scenario?" he asked again, as he pondered on it. "Worst case scenario would have ended with several bodies in that alley. No, we aren't near a worst case scenario. Not now at least. Dusk knows that we're strong, and they know that they're strong as well, or else they wouldn't still be around after these months. They likely want to stay on good terms with us as well, or else they would have taken their chance to have you killed while alone, or to open fire on the Razor in hopes of killing those inside."

He paused for a moment as he stared at the centre of the table, letting his mind wander on a tangent for a moment before resuming the conversation.

"No, we're likely only going to experience minor repercussions for this. They were probably only showing us their strength and numbers, to warn us against any further action. They know that all out combat with us would leave them in a weakened position if they won, and would make conquering them all the easier."

Lux had sat quietly as he listened, but felt he needed to interject with his own opinion.

"What if they're not as peaceful as we think Verahl? What if they're probing us for weakness, trying to test the strength of those in our command? You know that they could have just as easily ignored us, but instead they decided to act, and what happened? They wound up with four of our own surrounded in an alley, cut off from reinforcements, forcing one of our officers to barter for their release. They've shown their strength and we've shown weakness, what we have to do is show them that they can't push us around that easily so they don't start getting ideas on how Aegis's power isn't all it's cracked up to be."

Verahl thought Lux's opinion over. He had been thinking rather optimistically, but he still felt he had been realistic. He didn't feel that action would be necessary, perhaps a few new negotiations and agreements to help strengthen the bonds between Dusk and Aegis, but certainly not action or threats.

Raven leaned back in his chair while processing Lux's statement. Could they really be assessing are fighting ability? It's definitely possible on Omega. Bonds are destroyed and bridges burned without a second thought. "Lux has a point Ver. Omega is the land of opportunity. If the leaders of Dusk see an option in which they can defeat and absorb I have no doubts that they would jump at it like a rabid dog. At the same time we need to discourage mistakes like this amongst our rookies before it becomes a major problem. What point is it to have a large force if it is ill prepared. Look what happened to the Pack, crippled by a single person."

Verahl:

"So what do you both propose then?" Verahl asked a little agitated by the rashness that Lux and Raven were showing.

"I say we put some pressure back on them," Lux said immediately. "Test their reactions a little bit. Send a few small teams at their borders to cause trouble and see if we can bait any into a trap similar to theirs. Do something to at least show them that we're not to be fucked with."

Verahl sighed, holding his criticism for a moment, as he allowed for Raven to speak.

"And you?"

Korat arose from his meditative state with a sudden concious burst. He was in the second level storage room. It was secluded, quiet, free of chaos, noise, distraction. It was his personal bliss.

Combat had been sufficient. Nothing Special. Vorcha had a tendency of comming up short in terms of any sufficient challenge. This excursion had been an excellent opertunity to test accuracy in weapons fire, as well as reaction time and stress impulses. Although it was innacurate to assign mathmatics to combat in such a fashion, he calculated he has improved his lethality by about 2.8647% since his last mission. But again, inaccurate. Too many variables...

Korat however, now found himself in a dilema that threatened the very fabric of rationality. A restless, inconquerable sense of psychological panic ran through his thoughts, coarsing maddeningly, threatening to bubble to the surface. Every nerve, every fibre, every single cell in his body began to sting and burn with the soul-shattering uncertainty that lay before him.

"I finished my last crossword puzzle earlier... what do I do now?!?" He thought to himself.

Korat spent all of the time in which he was not working, or training, for the company's benefit, to solving a large collection of crossword puzzle books he had in his possesion. They were sent out semi-annually through an extranet subscription he had seen an ad for outside the den of a drug lord he killed one time working in the lower station, many years ago. ever since, he had used them to train his psychological response and keep his mind focused and occupied. They also had a nice looking cartoon image of a smiling Earth-Feline on the corner. It was pink.

Korat stood frozen in the storage room, planning his next move carefully; as much as he would forever regret this, he had but one option.

After cleaning the storage room of his candles and mat, he stormed into the common area, where several of the other mercs were lounging.

"Alright," he belowed with a loud and violent pang. "What is it that all of you do for personal amusement and recreation?!"

Brooks & Karnak:

Karnak peered up from the couch to see Korat storming into the Common Room yelling. He tilted his head, and gave him a surprised stare before shaking it off and tilting his head back.

Brooks turned on his stool in front of the kitchen's counter, ignoring his meal for a moment to try and figure out what Korat was wanting.

"Uh... Entertainment?... Uh..." his mind immediately went blank as he was now the focus of several hundred pounds of bored muscle. "We could play some poker, or hit the clubs in this district. Or we could---"

Wait... Why am I saying 'we'... Shit...

Brooks then shut up and started silently nodding; hoping that Korat would instead ignore him and not force him to be his buddy for the evening. A Krogan never made a good wingman.

"Cheers" replied Ocara happily, as he knocked back the beer, draining half of it before taking it from his 'lips' and shaking his head from side to side once, that Turian beer really worked wonders. The Turian stretched and craned his neck, the movement helping to drive some of the tension that had gathered in his limbs away.

"So, anyone got any ideas for entertainment besides the club? Hanging out here every day for weeks is starting to drag" continued Ocara with a broad smile.

"this is Omega right, you can find anything here; although, I'd rather avoid anything too illegal. Any good bands in town? Maybe catch a vid? Hell, we could always head down to the training room or a shooting range, see how we stack up. Maybe we could head down to the common room and see what the others are up to."

"Well..." began Ocara, an idea popping into his head and an interesting one at that.

"You look like you know a thing or two about hand-to-hand combat, you up for a sparring session? Or perhaps some kind of tag-team cqc drill?" said Ocara, relishing the prospect of a good spar, since the Vorcha certainly hadn't been much of a fight, perhaps he could get a little challenge from his mysterious cohort, whilst perhaps learning a thing or two at the same time, both about his new co-worker and for his hand-to-hand skills.

That of course, being only if the Human could stand against a specially trained Turian hand-to-hand fighter, even one that technically didn't finish his training...

"Sweet" said Ocara, his signature smile forming on his face as he replied. Deciding against polishing off the rest of his beer, he instead gave it to a random passer-by and proceeded to make his way down to the training rooms, doing miniature stretches in the elevator along the way.

Once they had arrived in the training room, Ocara walked across the sparring ring in the center to the opposite side from the door and began doing a series of stretches to get the blood flowing.

Finally, his stretches complete, Ocara stood in his corner of the ring, gently bouncing on his feet, ready for what he expected would be an interesting match.

Paladin stretched as well as he stood off against the Turian. When he felt sufficiently loose he turned to Terina, "Alright, I'm ready." On seeing the Turian was also ready, and hearing his confirmation, Paladin charged forward throwing a decoy haymaker by his opponents head. Then as the Turian dodged, Ethan twisted and grabbed Ocara in the back of the head, driving his center of gravity down as Ethan thrust his knee up, into Ocara's chest. knocking the wind out of him, then following up with genuine haymaker, knocking the Turian off his feet. Ethan danced away clutching his hand, feeling the after effect of punching Ocara's armored skin.

"alright, I'd call that a point for me" Paladin bends over, and offered Ocara his hand to help lift him up.

"Yeah, I'd have to concede victory on that, but only by small margin" replied Ocara cheerfully as Paladin helped him to his feet. Once he was standing again, a few more light stretches helped ease the pain in his chest, before he was bouncing upon his toes onces more.

"Alright here we go" he declared once both of the combatants were ready.

Stepping into the circle cautiously, his poised on either side of his body, Ocara started their second round with a couple feints and a little bit of back and forth boxing, both parties being cautious not to overextend and present their adversary with an opening.

Quickly, Ocara stepped in with yet another feint, his right fist shooting towards the right of Paladins head, drawing back quickly before suddenly whipping his hips around for another blow, this time with his left. Paladin had anticipated this and even though he didn't have time for a dodge, he would have managed to block the strike, if it hadn't have been another feint, something that, Ocara assumed, Paladin only realized when the Human's face met with his right fist, a blow carefully calculated to unbalance the Human for a moment, a blow that certainly hit paydirt.

Using the brief window where Paladin surely saw stars, Ocara's left hand came in, quickly (yet lightly) jabbing Paladin's solar plexus, stunning him further, before the Ocara stepped behind the Humans legs with his right foot and performed a solid takedown.

This time it was Ocara whose hand was extended to Paladin to help him up.

"Best of three?"

Karnak:

Karnak had wandered down to the training room to see if Yossar was around. He'd decided that he'd try to show him he was ready for duty again at least so he'd be able to get out on the next mission sooner. As he entered, he quickly caught sight of Ocara and Paladin sparring, and decided to watch.

"Who's winning?" he asked Terina as he sat down near her to watch.
