Marcus hefted one of the cumbersome weapons, familiarizing himself with the weight and trigger placement,
"A little back heavy, but otherwise well-made, kicks like a mule but I like a challenge, and good sights. This'll be fun. I doubt a krogan would want to be supporting rather than participating in the fight, I take one Bossman, Thanks."
Just realized I forgot to describe part of the gun. The top has a handle/sight built on top that extends down from the end of the barrel to the end of the trigger before the magazine. Think of it like a Famas.
Also, think of it as replacing any heavy weapon you might carry, unless you're a soldier, then replace it for an assault rifle or heavy weapon.
Shit on a stick, hopefully the new people will post with regularity to we can continue the epic tale of aegis. On a related note I present an attempt to cleanse the unnecessary characters from the group.
The plot-filling ninja crept along through the night
swinging his vorpal sword with obvious delight.
Quitters and malposters fell before his might,
the slaying of RP nonposters, his God-giving right.
Sneaking from thread to thread ending this blight,
Those horrid non-posters forever in his sight.
Just came to me as an answer to all RP failures who don't post.
Well, as far as I see it I can either do this one of two ways:
1) Continue as normal and have a mass killing of NPCs. This would work but I feel would lessen the impact of deaths later on.
2) Rewrite the first mission and such, and restructure some more, and have the reserves join in immediatly.
I think 2) might work better in this case just so we can have things rolling a bit faster. Also, if any of you know people who might be able to RP, and will COMMIT, then please invite them. We're currently sitting at 4 people WITH reserves now.
Sorry, today and yesterday I've been extremely busy. Speech, Chem Lab, Law Essay, and other things have been taking up my time.
Going with option two. One new NPC will be added to the mercenary part of the company and the other two players will join. Xandus and Moloa will be kept also. We will continue off from the mission we were last on also, with the trucks and everything.
Will try and have it up by tonight, but I have tutoring and a doctors appointment (getting a ton of shots, how fun) so hopefully if I can use my arms later, I'll be able to get this shit done.
I'm immensly sorry for delaying this so long, but right now is currently academic hell for me, and now that I'm in the clear for the next few days (relatively), we should be able to get this going at full force again.
Back now, let's summarize everything that's going to happen now...
Alright, so in essence this is what's going to have happened.
All the people who were here before who quit, gone. All of them. A few of their characters will remain though. Xandus and Moloa will still be apart of the Company, but now played by me. Also, Vek the Krogan has now been substituted for Lux the Krogan. Difference mainly being, instead of being a monk, imagine more a mix between Wrex and Grunt. Also, Santius will now operate with Mayli and Dray with the smuggling aspect of the company.
Now for changes on the first mission, and summary for those who are going to be joining now.
The first mission had everyone's characters in it as well as the NPC Mercs (Moloa, Xandus, and Lux). Events played out almost exactly the same. There was a warehouse that needed to be guarded. The company was hired to protect it. Thieves tried to break in and steal. Thieves were shot and killed by the company, moral problem being for some, the thieves didn't fight back, didn't fire back, were lightly armed, weren't shielded, and were actively trying to avoid a confrontation until the company stuck. The four thieves that were present were killed, and the company reported back successful.
Now, for the next mission, the one we are finally going to play.
Once back at company headquarters, Verahl announced that they would need to prepare for tomorrow. He did not disclose the mission briefing, but instead said that they would be briefed in the morning. The company then went to their quarters, and slept. Morning came, and the company was treated to a great breakfast from Dray. Verahl then announced what the contract for the nights mission was. Essentially, Aegis was hired, along with two other mercenary companies, to help protect a shipment going from one side of Omega to the other. They were told to be ready to deal with ambushes and the like, and it was almost certain that the cargo would come under attack. A gun runnner, and friend of Verahl's showed up later that day and sold a few new items to company members.
We are currently sitting at roughly one hour before the mission starts. Dray, Mayli, and Santius are out on a mission to Illium, but anyone else, please feel free to interact with each other or any of the NPCs or do any actions.
Axle, you are still in the armoury with Verahl and now Lux instead of Vek, and the rest of you, I have no idea. Now, without further delay, let's finally start things up.
Edit: Oh, and Darth Caelum bailed before his character had a chance to join. Please welcome BigZ225 though to the RP now.
Edit:Edit: Oh yeah, almost forgot. Got a message from Lauren Admire. Apparently, well, I'll just quote the message.
Hey,
This is Lauren Admire from The Escapist - we're running a special, one time edition of RP Digest highlighting our community's RP's, and we'd like to include your RP in it. If you're interested just send me a summary of up to 300 words, a link to the RP and username of who runs it. We'd need the summary by Friday at the latest, just PM me if you'd like to participate!
Thanks,
Lauren
So I guess we're going to possibly be featured? Cool? Now if only I were good at writing... Oh well, now time for me to embarrass the group to the whole Escapist! Which was what I've been intending to do all along. Bwah ha ha! Now time to twirl my mustache and burn down some orphanages.
Lux picked up one of the Shredders. He looked it over a bit, checking its components, before finally looking up from it with a grin.
"Oh, I'll take it. I think I can make a real mess with this. Not sure if the human can handle it though, I think he's too scrawny to use a real gun like this." he said. Lux always had to assert himself above the others, and his form of rivalry and challenges were known to the rest of the company.
"As much as I enjoy your projecting and your necessity to be better I just don't have the time to make you look bad what with my shiny new weapon and all.... I mean you Krogans like shiny things don't ya. I'm gonna take this baby out for a test run Bossman, Thanks."
"Just familiarize yourself with it for now. I checked them out earlier in the afternoon. Besides, I'm sure you'll be having lots to test it on later." Verahl said.
"I got something to test mine on right now..."
"Lux, stow it or else you'll be getting Santius's job, now, I've got to get going, so I'll leave you two for the meantime. If I find a hole in either one of you before the mission starts though, you'll both be paying for it."
Verahl left the armoury and walked back up the stairs to the common room. He saw Sal sitting on a couch nearby and approached her.
Sal fidgeted a little. She sat with her chin resting in her hand, her fingers drumlin on her mask, the heel of her foot tapped rapidly.
" Everything alright with you?" Verahl asked climbing the stairs from the armory. "Huh? Oh yeah, Boss I'm fine just nervous. I get like this before every mission, no matter how well prepared I am. I'm usually able to stop it by disassembling and re-assembling my guns, but I've done that already." she said leaning back on the couch sighing. " I wouldn't worry about it though, it's actually a fairly common trait for young female Quarians." She explained
Verahl sat down on the couch opposite her, and crossed his legs. He got comfortable and paused for a moment before speaking.
"Checking your equipment is a fairly normal ritual and one that I actually encourage people to do. It must be around 25 years ago now, I saw first hand the effects of ill preperation. I was in a company of Batarian pirates. There was this real cocky one, I can't remember his name, refused to check his equipment before we started. To cut the story short, he took point, and rounded the corner into one of the ship's guards. He had his rifle drawn and laughed, but the colour drained from his face when it didn't fire. The guard reached for his shotgun, and in desperation he lunged at him. At that close range, the damage done by the shotgun mortally wounded him. I took the guard down, but when the others came near, they saw him lieing in a pool of his own blood screaming. He was dead, we all knew it, but he couldn't accept it. Our leader, Yarnan, drew his pistol and put him out of his misery." Verahl paused, and took in a deep breath. He was now leaning over with his chin in his hands, and his elbows on both knees. "He was a liability simply put. He thought he was invincible. He lived without fear, and the knowledge that he'd always come out on top. He was wrong. He is dead."
"Yeah, always check your equipment for starters and that no one's invincible." She said simply. This was not a new story to her, she had grown up hearing stories of young foolish Marines who got them selves killed, unfortunately her cousin Prazza had always liked the stories and saw those marines as heroes.
"That's true, but there's one underlying theme you missed." he leaned in closer and spoke in a slightly softer tone. "It's ok to be afraid. Accept that little doubt in the back of your mind right now instead of letting it prey on you. You always get so anxious before we go out Sal. Why? You've proven yourself to be one of the company's most capable agents, and I'm sure tonight won't be any different. Now calm down a little, relax. You keep this up and you'll start to get even me worried."
He leaned back on the couch, and glanced towards the ceiling now. He started again on another bit of information from his past.
"There were always three things I'd do before I went out. The first, was to always double check my equipment. Second, was to plan out my every action for the job as thouroughly as I could. Finally, I would sit back in a chair, and do what I'm doing right now. Relax, try and get my head a bit straight, and talk to someone. It's funny, after so many years doing this, and having it so you don't wind up bleeding to death in a dark alley, you'll be shocked at what you've survived. I've seen some of the worst this galaxy has to offer, and met with some of the people who cause a lot of it. Every single day now I wonder why am I still sitting here when most of those around me have passed."
He got up from the couch before saying something that Sal's translator wasn't able to convert. A small smirk crossed his face, as he gave a final look at Sal.
"Transport's taking off in thirty. Oh, and I got a message from Dray. Says he found the perfect thing, whatever he means by that. Those Salarians..." his muttering got quieter and quieter as he walked away towards the stairs leading to his office.
Marcus took a drag from his cigarette as he listened to Verahl's story from outside the common. He had to hand it to him, he knew exactly what would help calm Sal down and had done it so easily. Killing was an ugly business and it was good to have a healthy fear of each day in order to be ready for it.
Taking another deep drag, Marcus walked toward the transport with a smile on his face.
Sal smiled behind her mask, Verahl defiantly had a lot of wisdom hidden under his merc shell. He's right I just need to find something to help myself calm down. She chuckled "Prazza owes me twenty credits." Just before she left they had made a bet that she couldn't find one Batarian that didn't hate just about every one they talked to. She began to wonder what Dray meant by 'The perfect thing' Ah well I'll find out sooner or later. She thought with a shrug. She walked off to her room to check her own personal supplies.
Ocara sat in his room he was disassembling and reassembling his Naginata rifle with surgical precision and calm. After he was finished he stood, walked to his table and admired the extensive array of backup knives he had obtained during his short time in the Terminus systems. Picking his favorite two, he slid the first into the sheath by his ankle and the other went into its horizontal sheath situated on his back above his hips. He finished equiping the rest of his gear, sat back down on his bed and waited.
(OOC thanks for letting me join the RP, as i mentioned in my char sheet this is my first forum RP and if i'm doing anything wrong please tell me.)
The last thirty minutes had passed, and now the company found themselves on the Gauntlet, taking off towards their rendevous. Verahl sat close to the cockpit, away from the others, with his hands overtop of his Revenant. His eyes were closed, and he sat absolutely still as the transport flew. After about 10 minutes of flying he stood up.
"Alright, listen up everyone. Hands off your weapons and eyes on me. Good. When we land at the port, we're going to find five transports waiting there for us. We're going to be spread out along the back two. Me, Moloa, and Lux are going to take the fourth, while Sal, Ocara, and Raven will be taking the fifth."
"What about me?" Xandus quickly asked, noticing his name hadn't be called.
"You're going to be in the third transport, with one of the other companies. Apparently they're short on men, and you're going to be riding with them."
"So I'm being ditched?"
"Essentially, if you want, I can let Moloa go, and you can ride in the back of the fourth transport with Lux. I'm sure you'll have a lot to talk about."
"On second though, I'd rather keep my arms."
"Alright, now that that's settled, the trucks are going to be heading down the station, towards some warehouses on the lower levels. Aside from that, I'm still in the dark on most of this. ETA, 5 minutes."
With that, Verahl sat back down, and the company went back to their business. The transport landed five minutes later, outside the docks. As Verahl said, five trucks were parked nearby a loading bay, as a few Vorcha loaded the final crates into the trucks. As the company approached, a Batarian signaled them over.
"You Aegis Company?"
"Yeah, we know what to do."
"Good, fourth and fifth. Get in, we're about to take off."
The Batarian walked back to the first truck. He opened his Omni-Tool quickly to check something, and then opened a com-link with someone. He wore straight black armor with no markings on it, other then small indentations and curves that lined the breastplate. The pattern was unrecognizable though.
Xandus got into the cabin of the third transport, as Verahl got into the cabin of the fourth. Moloa and Lux went into the back of the fourth, along with two others, both wearing the same black armor as the Batarian. Sal, Ocara, and Raven walked along onto the fifth truck. They saw the inside was rather cramped. Boxes were secured all along the sides of the truck, leaving just a narrow corridor in the middle that lead into the cabin. They made their way through the corridor, and then saw four seats at the end. Suddenly a voice from the cabin broke the silence.
"Jenx, Paley, get the back locked up, and take your seats. One of you three is going to have to ride up here also."
It was only now they noticed, that a Salarian and a Krogan had entered behind them. The Salarian made his way down the corridor and into one of the seats, as the Krogan locked the doors of the truck. A few dim lights lined the ceiling, and provided some light inside the back of the truck. The silhouette of the Krogan was seen in the darkness, before moving down the corridor. He could hardly fit between the stacks of boxes, and the light now showed some of the color in his face. He sat down beside the Salarian as the truck slowly lifted up off the ground. The company members quickly took their seats, two sitting in the back with the others, and one in the front with the pilot.
The Krogan's low booming voice, felt like it shook the truck as much as the engines starting, as he let out a small laugh and bellowed, "It's going to be a long night..."
