"The rest of you, go with Sal through to the door and the room to the other end of the hall! Come right out on top of them!" He yelled as he fired a few more shots down the hall.
"Basara! You stay, keep distracting them long enough for Karnak and Sal to move into position!"
Just for clarification since I've been slow as hell on the map. Most of you are now moving down to seperate rooms that aren't in the line of sight of the main hall/4-6 forces. What these rooms are doesn't matter at the moment, you're simply getting to the other end of it. At the other end, the doors will open up so a crossfire can be easily made on the 4-6 position so they may be taken down quickly.
So right now, most of you are either waiting for Karnak to set the charges on one door, or for Sal to hack the locks on another. Lux and Basara are the only ones hanging back by the elevator's trying to draw the 4-6's fire.
Sal fired one more quick burst down the hall Lux and Basara were covering and nodded as she turned towards the other. She dashed down the hall. Thankfully it was fairly empty, save for a lone soldier that she was able to kill with a incinerate blast and a few bursts from her SMG. "Alright, the hall way's clear. You guy's check some of these other room's while I hack this door." She said to the small group that followed as she turned a keeled down in front of the door.
Raven tracked his enemy as he swung under the catwalk before he disappeared from sight. Of all things I had to fight, it had to be another vanguard. He's trying to lose me so he can sneak around. Sprinting to the other side of the cat walk to get a better view of the dance floor, he took his shredder in one hand before glancing across the floor. Where would I hide if I wanted people to lose track of me? Hmm? Taking careful aim, he put a burst into each of the counters in front of him before looking for any other possible hiding places.
Karnak placed the charge on the door, ensuring that it was properly armed before stepping back and taking cover behind some of the nearby crates. He only now took the chance to look around before blowing it. It was some form of a storage room. Crates of varying size and weights lined the room. Karnak wondered for a moment what might have been inside them, before bringing himself back to concentrate on the door.
?Get back!? he yelled as he watched everyone around go for cover. ?Three, two, one??
As the smoke cleared from the remains from of the door, Karnak coughed and tried to wave away that blown into his face. He had noticed the blast had knocked several of the crates stacked onto the walls to the floor. A few had been broken open by it as well, spilling their contents onto the floor. He didn?t have time to check them as he vaulted the crate in front of him, and headed to the opening in the wall.
He leaned out from the former doorway, and looked down the hall. He could see behind the makeshift bunker from here. He could see the machine gunner positioned behind, still firing down the hall towards Lux and Basara. Loading a concussive shot, he lined up his shot and fired. He watched as the gunner was blown away from the heavy machine gun mounted on top of the crates.
He popped back to load a new thermal clip before hearing Sal?s voice come over his comm.
?Doors opened!,? she said as Karnak locked in the new clip.
?Take them down!? Lux yelled, his voice being clearly heard, even without the comm unit. Without even hesitating, Karnak bolted from the doorway, dropping his rifle to take his shotgun as he closed the distance to the closest 4-6.
Karnak could hear the groans coming from the wounded 4-6 gang members. Only a few were left cringing in pain, most had been killed in their rush. A few had managed to make it down the stairs to the final level, but hardly any now remained.
?How close is the nearest hospital? Clinic? Something?? Lux asked as he stood over Karnak.
?Too far,? someone answered. ?Unless he?s getting immediate attention, I don?t think it?d even be fifteen minutes.?
Karnak could hardly even tell who was speaking anymore. He thought it was Yossar, but it could have been Santius. What did it matter to him though? He looked down once more at his battered and broken armour. He could see the holes where the rounds had gone through, but couldn?t feel any pain coming from them. He could hardly even realize what had happened to him, or make sense of the injury that had been inflicted on him. He couldn?t feel anything at the moment, everything felt somewhat off to him, as though he were simply dreaming this instead of experiencing it. He leaned his head back a bit more against the wall. A canteen was only inches in front of his face. He couldn?t tell whose arm was holding it, but he didn?t care at the moment.
?More?? he began to mutter but it had already tilted back to his lips before he could finish.
?Who wants to stay with him?? Lux asked as he looked over the rest of the company.
Karnak couldn?t hear who answered but someone must of. He only heard a mumble before Lux?s low voice rumbled again.
?Alright, we?ll clear out the rest. Verahl will probably want something special for him, probably some form of Batarian ritual he?d want done.?
Lux:
With Karnak being taken care of, Lux had to continue on. He knew it would be likely that someone would have been tagged during this, but it was something that he was ready to deal with. He moved down the stairs, taking each one individually, anticipating some form of final stand from one of the 4-6. Maybe it would be some thug with a rocket launcher trying to jump him, or another trying to charge them to finish them off. It didn?t matter, the company still needed to be on their toes.
When he reached the lower level though, Lux saw only a few drops of blood in the middle of the hall in front of him. The level only opened in front of him, and to the left. He signalled for a few of the company to check the left hall before continuing down the centre one.
When he was half way down, he could hear a banging coming from around the corner. It sounded as though someone was pounding on the walls. Lux slowed down, creeping to the edge of the hall. He wanted to make sure he had the element of surprise.
He slowly peaked his head from around the corner, looking down towards the end of the hall. A lone 4-6 was knocking on a large vault door. He could hear him saying something to it as well.
?Daniel you asshole let me in! I don?t know how much longer it will be!? Kurt said. He was speaking to a terminal on the wall beside him. Lux couldn?t hear what was responded but he knew it was some denial.
?Look, I don?t care what she says! I?m one of the tops hear as well, and I order you to---?
Kurt heard the final footsteps too late. He didn?t even have a chance to fully turn around before Lux had driven him directly into the door. Lux didn?t stop though, as he started to beat whatever was left out of him.
?Piece of racist shit!? Lux yelled as he stomped on Kurt?s back once more. ?If I didn?t know you held rank, I wouldn?t make this nearly as long as I now intend to!?
He continued to beat him until Kurt was barely consciences. It felt good to release some of the tension he had built on this low sack of shit. After he was through, Lux dragged him to the stairs to meet with the others, who had now assembled at the bottom.
?We?ve got a large door at the end of this hall. It?ll take more then what I have with me to even put a dent in it,? Lux said as he threw Kurt onto the bottom step. ?What did the rest of you find??
The other hallway leads to the medibay and the jail area. I sped this up since we fell behind, and finished up the battle in the hallway. I don't think there will be any objections to this.
From down the hall and through an open door, a slightly familiar Human voice is heard, shrieking commands at some unknown second party.
"I swear! You fix him now, or I'll fucking shoot you!"
Lexi knelt next to Ocara's slumped body, bringing the pistol to bear of the doctor with her left hand, whilst clutching Ocara's head to her chest with her right, desperate not to let him go and desperate not to loose him. Things were going too well to end here! They mustn't! Lexi had suffered through loosing someone close to her before, she would not do it again! She was going to make this doctor help Ocara, or she was going to not rest until she found someone who could!
Disguised bump... Come on guys! Keep posting! Btw, make sure you don't kill the doctor, or as Ted put it 'dont do anything permanent'
"Look, you might be surprised about this, but pointing that end of the gun at a Doctor, does not in any way help speed up the process or ensure success," Miles said, still calm as he kneeled down over Ocara's body. "In fact, you'd find that in most cases, it will only make things worse."
He slowly rose from over Ocara, and placed his hand on his chin. He thought for a moment what would be best to do with the Turian. He wasn't certain if the machines would be able to keep him stable or not, but knew it would be the best course of action. He hoped though that the programming for other species hadn't been removed from their databases.
"Lift him onto the closest machine," the Doctor said slowly, still pondering what exactly to do with Ocara. He grabbed a thermomiter from his desk, and placed it in his mouth, nibbling on the end of it while he took a step forward towards the machines."If you're wanting him to leave here alive, I'll be needing you to---"
Before he could finish, he was interupted by the sound of the door opening, as he looked up to see a human clad in orange and black armour walk through.
Verahl:
Verahl lay curled in an awkward position at the base of the wall as he regained consciousness. Almost every part of him ached. His head was still spinning, leaving him disoriented as he tried to right himself. Each muscle he moved was stiff, and he could hear cracks coming from almost every joint he used.
It took him a while to finally pull himself up to sit against the wall. He still had difficulty seeing straight when he finally did. A couple of his eyes still wandered around the hall, having difficulty focusing with the others.
Finally, he pushed up from the ground, using the wall as a balance as he stood once again on his two feet. His head was aching, and his body still rigid. He took his first few stumbling steps away from the wall and down the hall. He leaned over half way down to recover his Revenant. It still looked to be functional, and unharmed by the damage. He checked to make sure it was still fine, before continuing on towards the office window. The fight wasn?t over yet, not until he had struck back twice as hard to the Vanguard that did this to him.
Sal hesitated over as the others moved with Lux towards the stare well, it didn't feel right leaving Karnak here to die. "Well Can't say the camaraderie of the Flotilla didn't come in handy." She said knelling down next to him. "C'mon Karnak, stay with us. This should keep you goin till I can find a medbay ." She said as she applied a large dose of medigel. It was the best she could do with her limited skill. She said a quick prayer for Karnaks safety and headed off towards the starewell. "Lux I can't just leave Karnak here to die I'm going to find the medbay." She told him over the comm.
] "I swear! You fix him now, or I'll fucking shoot you!"
Basara turned his head as he heard the screaming. The voice sounded familiar, but Basara couldn't quite place it, since his ears were still ringing.
Ringing... God, that voice is shrill...
Basara took a moment and thought. The realization hit him like a sledgehammer to the face.
Lexi!
Basara took out his shotgun and slowly moved down the hallway, ready to fire at a moment's notice.
"Yo, guys, over here!? He said as he nudged the door open with his shotgun and saw Lexi huddled over Ocara protectively, aiming her pistol directly at the doctor standing in the corner.
"Lexi," he said slowly, trying to introduce himself slowly to the situation as not to agitate it. The last thing he needed was her losing it in front of him. "It's Basara, we're all here right now, Aegis I mean. What's going on?"
Basara still never took his eyes off the doctor. He only noted the shape of a Turian in front of the desk. He realized that it must have been Ocara, but he didn?t know if he was alive or dead. Basara refused to break his concentration from the doctor though. In a room full of objects that were designed to slice flesh and scythe through bone, even a medic could prove deadly.
"Stay the fuck back" shouted Lexi, pointing the gun wildly from Basara to the Doctor, her eyes wheeling up with the tears she promised herself she would not allow herself to cry again.
"You!" she shouted again, twirling to the doctor.
"Help him! HELP HIM!" she shrieked, now completely beside herself, the only thing driving her being her burining love of Ocara and the drive to not let it end here.
Sorry for the crappy post, my brains a little 'bleh' today
Vance watched as the Shredder lived up to its name. The counters nearby him were easily penetrated by the sheer power that it held. The shots kept getting closer to his position, as some started to hit bottles left behind the bar, shattering each to thousands of tiny pieces.
Vance needed to come up with something fast, if he didn?t decide on what to do soon, he too would be laying amongst the pieces of destroyed glass.
He decided that the best course of action would to be to try and separate Raven from his weapon.
If I can get in close I can? Yes? That just might work?
Vance waited and fell into the rhythm of the shots before making his move. He peeked the top of his head over the counter to see where Raven was. Near one of the tables Raven stood, aiming his Shredder at a piece of the counter nearby. He watched as Raven started to turn to fire at him, but it was too late. Before he could readjust and acquire Vance, he had already sent himself through the counter and shattered stools, and straight into Vance. He felt Raven stumble back from the force of the blow, and took the small moment he had to grab the sides of the Shredder, forcing it away from him, to be stuck in-between the both of them.
Lux listened to Sal as he continued down the hall to the opposite end. He wondered where the 4-6 had gone, but paused when he heard Sal finish up.
?Fine, stay with him,? he said over the comm. ?The rest of us should be able to wrap things up.?
He still wondered what exactly Verahl?s reaction to this would be, but decided not to bother him over it. If he hadn?t gotten back to Lux yet already, it either meant that both him and Raven were dead, or that they were still busy with something. The thought had hit him earlier that if both of them were dead, the only one left to lead the company would be him. It didn?t sit easy with Lux, he knew that he wouldn?t be able to do it as well as either. Instead he choose to continue on down the hall towards the end, opting not to confirm if his worst suspicions were true yet.
As he got near the end, he slowed as he approached the corner, hearing a lone man?s voice yelling and banging around it.
?Look, do you want me to fix him, or pump you full of sedatives? I can do either, it really doesn?t make much difference to me,? Miles said as he impatiently crossed his arms, and started to tap his foot. ?But, if you want him to pull through this, get him onto the table so I can start.?
He sighed as he waited for Lexi to comply. It wasn?t for the struggle he was being put through with her however, but because he knew that the 4-6 had lost, and the only way he?d be making it out of this building alive was if he could somehow get good with Aegis.
He paused for a moment, before turning to look at Basara.
Raven fought to maintain a grip on his shredder as the vanguard held on tight to the weapon keeping each other at arms lengths. I didn't think a vanguard would get in close for an attack like that. I have to get him to let go or this is just going to keep on going. That's it. Grabbing both of the vanguards arms to bring him closer, he reared his head back and slammed it straight into Vance's head with the added backup of a biotic barrier to momentarily stun him. Regaining control of his gun, he took aim and prepared to unleash hell on the vanguard.
There was nigh silence in the medi-bay for a moment, as Lexi knelt next to Ocara's body, her pistol on her left hand and randomly switching between targeting the doctor and Basara, despite his alliegences.
But finally she began to calm down, her breathing slowed and her eyes began to dry.
"Basara, help me lift him"
Sorry for the crappy post, its only 7AM here, but its the only time I can find to post lately, see my under-title for the reason XD. Though I might be able to edit it later
"For fucks sake Basara! Help me!" Lexi shouted once more, as she tried vainly to lift Ocara, but try as she might, the Turian was too heavy for even her.
Basara nodded as he put away his shotgun. "Hang on, Lexi." He walked over to the left side of the good Doctor, so his metal arm was inbetween the two of them as a deterrent. He slid his right arm beneath Ocara and gently lifted him to the table, straining until the servo motors kicked in. Basara was afraid he would slice an artery if he used his left hand.
Basara gingerly laid Ocara down and motioned for the doctor to come over here. "Look, I realize I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, so I'll make this quick: your life is directly related to his. I'll do whatever you need, but he has to live."
Okay I'm sorry for not posting even in the lack of posts, I've just been swamped with school.
Sal's head turned as she heard yelling from a room not to far away. She drew her pistol and inched towards the door. The door opened and she rushed in her gun aimed at the first body she saw. She sighed when she saw Basara and Lexi. "Whew, I'm glad I found you Basara. What are you doing here Lex...." She began to ask as she saw Ocaras body laying on the table, bleeding profusely. "Ah shit! This isn't good, two members down, both bleeding to death." She said shaking her head, She turned to the last man in the room. "Alright I suppose the doc around here. You need to get him fixed as fast as you can, you have another patient waiting."
She looked to Lexi and put a hand on her shoulder. "Listen we may not know each other very well, but we both know Ocara, he wont leave you with out a fight, don't give up hope." She said to the distraught looking woman.
Sal walked out of the room and turned on her comm. "Lux you there?" She asked.
