Lux:

"Stack up," Lux said as he pointed towards the stairwell leading down. It only went down a bit, before curving back around into the floor below. Running straight down it would have put them directly in the line of fire of anyone waiting for them.

"They'll be waiting for us, so here's the plan. Meer and myself go first. We'll draw their fire for a moment before Yossar comes down," he said as he turned to face Yossar. "You, I want you to send whatever's down there flying across the room. Give them a Shockwave or something. You go with him Thayna, I want to have their heads down long enough so the others can move in. Now, once we have some ground down there, the rest of you start trickling in. Take whatever cover you can get, and start laying down fire. Once we're down there, we then start working on eliminating what we find."

He quickly checked his Shredder, before nodding at Meer.

"Let's move."

----------

Lux could feel the shots hitting the table he leaned behind as the 4-6 opened fire. It had worked well so far, most of the company that had followed him were able to get down to the first level, and find something decent to hide behind. He finished replacing the last two heat sinks on the Shredder before moving to fire again.

The company had secured the whole side of the room, but were having difficulty going further. In front of them was a long hallway. Doors lined each side, and most had 4-6 popping out and shooting back. Lux double checked the number he could see. There must have been eight of them up there. If there were able to push through though, they'd be able to go down to the next level. At the end of the hall was the next stairwell, that would take them further down.

Verahl:

Verahl, Esten and Raven climbed the stairs towards the upper level. If what he had been told was correct, it should have lead to a hallway, that went to the 4-6 leader's office, their next target. Verahl glanced down the hallway. It was empty. Only a chair was left leaning against the far wall, with a terminal beside it.

Verahl looked over at Raven, hesitating to continue further.

"I don't like this. It reeks of a trap."

"I'll take point," Esten said, as he held his rifle ready as he walked slowly down the hall. Verahl watched, his rifle drawn also in case anything should happen to Esten, while Raven waited behind him.

When Esten finally reached the terminal, he holstered his rifle, but drew his pistol. With his free hand, he opened the terminal, attempting to bypass the locks that held the main door shut so the office could be infiltrated.

All of a sudden, part of the hallway?s ceiling dropped to the floor. From the hole four attack drones floated down. Esten immediately activated his cloak while two of the drones swung around to open fire on his half of the hall. The other two started firing down towards Verahl and Raven in the stairwell, trying to supress them while Esten was drawn out.

Verahl crouched down, and leaned out from the opening to the stairs as he fired at the first drone he could see. While the two drones concentrated on Verahl, his shields were able to hold the shots that connected, while he opened fire with his Revenant. By the time he had stopped to let his shields recharge, he had been able to disable one of the drones. While its gun was still functional, a few of his rounds had been able to break through the shields, and damage its thrusters.

Meer waited as patiently as a krogan could while a clip's worth of ammo was expended against the the bit of wall he was using for cover. He suddenly wondered why bullets of such power as available couldn't seem to clear a corner of a wall. He decided it was not in his best interests to pursue it, and brought his mind back to the battle. He leaned out from cover and opened fire with the Revenant, sending several bursts of fire towards the closest 4-6 he could see.

Kurt:

"I don't care Vance, we need you down here!" Izzy yelled into his comm as he fired down the hall. He leaned back into the doorway as saw a Krogan lean out from the other end, and watched as the engineer across from him sent an Incineration blast back at him. He turned to face the two others that were in the far room with him.

?Ross, with me, the rest of you keep them here!? he shouted as he turned and ran down the stairs with Ross, leaving the others to hold the hallway for a while longer. He had more important things to do now.

Sal peeked around the corner of the metal table she had flipped over when they took the room. She quickly pulled her head back into cover as several shots zoomed past where her head had been. "Shit, these guys are starting to piss me off." She said popping up and firing her SMG in quick bursts. One screamed as the bullet's pierced his shield and hit his arm. Sal had to duck back behind the table to reload. "Damn it! Anyone got a grenade launcher or something?" She asked.

Basara tapped his shotgun. "Right here, I got your destruction." Basara threw a timed mine to the side of the group. It would miss them completely. Basara then snaked around the corner and fired his Carnage. Some were hit by it, being vaporised by the attack instantly, but others dove out of the way- right to where the mine was. Basara detonated it, killing even more and thinning out the numbers. It was easier now, but the Company was still outnumbered. Basara ducked back into cover as bullets sought out his head, missing by inches.

I hope you dont mind if I turn Ocara's bonds into rope? Just tell me if its not ok and I'll change it.

Ocara could now hear the sounds of battle quite clearly now, the bangs as shots fired and missed, the screams of men, hopefully 4-6, dying and the occasional grenade detonating.

Ocara guessed he could have simply sat there and waited for help, but he wasn't about to sit there doing nothing while Lexi could be in trouble. Ocara looked down and strained to see his bonds in the darkness, only just making out that they appeared to be some kind of nylon rope.

Hard to escape from, but certainly not impossible.

He was bound in four places, two ropes secured tightly over his arms (one rope on his shoulders and the other on his forearm). The other two ropes secured his individual ankles. He also noted that the chair he was bound to had a metal frame.

Good.

Using his body to add more force and weight to his actions, Ocara tried to extend his arms as far out from his body as they could go, making the rope tighten against his arms, making the ropes dig into his arms painfully.

From there, Ocara began to turn rapidly from side to side, trying to grate the ropes that held him against the metal frame of the chair.

The ropes quickly dug through his already bloodstained shirt and into his arms, cutting into them. The blood from his forearms and shoulders trickled down his arms, further adding to the mess that was on the floor. The ropes were slowly being worn away, but still, they made sure that with each fiber that was broken, Ocara paid a hefty price with his own blood.

But Ocara pushed on, ignoring the raging pains as his entire body protested, driving himself onwards, his mind focusing on the one thing that mattered, the only thing he cared about.

'Find Lexi!'

Thayne slowly leant out of the cover she was behind, before cursing and being forced to hide herself again as several bullets passed uncomfortabley close to her head. She fired a cuople of bursts from her machine gun blindly, in order to suppress her opponents. She then stepped out from cover again and threw a powerful biotic blast towards the nearest 4-6. He let out a short scream as he was picked up and hurled throught the air, before he was cut of as he collided with the wall. There was a snapping sound and he fell to the floor, limp.

Kurt:

Kurt ran down the stairs and down to the next level. While he had left more then half of the gang currently in the stronghold back to hold of Lux and the others, he had been able to send the rest down further to propperly equipt themselves and ready more defences.

He passed by the crates that had been arranged to form a small bunker for some of the 4-6 to use. A machine gun currently sat on top of it, and was aimed directly at the stairs in front of them. From where it was positioned, anyone coming down would be dead before they could even hit the last step.

"They'll be able to buy us another minute or two, but not much longer," Kurt yelled to those assembled. "I want anything else that we can use brought up from the armoury to stop these assholes!"

He turned back to face Ross and couple others, each armed with an M-100 grenade launcher and waiting for his command.

"On my mark, I want you three to go back up there, and fire at anyone that shows you even an inch of armor or skin. Buy enough time for everyone else to pull back. Try and get enough so the wounded can be brought down as well."

He then went up to another thug. There were a couple problems left that he needed taking care of.

"Cal, get the prisoners. The Turian is in the interogation room, and she's with Miles. Bring them both up here. Either give you any troubles though, don't be hesitant to finish them."

He made sure his rifle was loaded, before facing the gang once more, watching as they finished and started getting into position.

"And one of you bastards bring me something to drink!"

There was a part I screwed up on on the last page, but I corrected now.

That was not Izzy, that was Kurt, got their names mixed up, and posted under the wrong one. Sorry if that caused any confusion.

Also, there's been a couple edits to the base recently, so things are a bit different then how they've been portrayed earlier. There is an elevator behind everyone in the common room, and in the lobby, but the power to it has been cut. Also, for Zak, the prison has been moved down so it isn't on the same level as the fighting currently is.

Karnak:

Karnak leaned from the corner opposite Meer, and continued firing on anyone he could see down the hall. He turned back to reload, and watched as Thayna got up, and threw some Biotic power down the hall. He leaned out to see what had happened, and noticed that the closer 4-6 had been thrown down the hall, and was now crippled in the centre of it.

Seeing his opportunity, Karnak quickly rushed down the hall and into the first doorway. With the room across from it emptied, there was only one 4-6 left in there for him.

When he ran through the doorway, he found the gang member standing there reloading his rifle as Karnak burst in. He dropped the weapon, and tried to draw his pistol, but Karnak had already had his shotgun at the ready, and was able to beat him to it.

The first shot broke through his shields and most of his armor.

The second shot was enough to put him down for good.

With his defences stipped from the first, the second had been far more then needed to end the life of the thug. His armor was almost destroyed by the point blank blast from the shotgun. Almost every bit of it had penetrated, leaving blood seeping out from the numberous holes that now dotted the armor.

Karnak leaned out of the doorway, and yelled down the hallway and pointed to the other empty room across from him.

"Move up!" he shouted before turning to fire the remainder of the shotgun's heat sink at the 4-6 down the hall. "Move up!"

Cal jogged through the base, ignoring the raging sounds of the battle from above him, moving swiftly towards the cells. He had his rifle loaded and ready, knowing the Turian he was being sent to pick up would kill him as soon as look at him, he'd heard the stories of the three that had already been felled by the animal and then he'd seen Kurt's nose, thinking that it was most likely the Turian's work once more.

He finally came to a stop outside of the cell, where he shouldered his rifle and drew his pistol. While his orders were to collect the Xeno, he wasn't going to let the animal live, not after what it had done and most likely would do to the remainder of 4-6 if given the chance.

Cal reached out and flicked on the rooms lights, before opening the door and entering, not even bothering to check the darkened little corner of the room just to the right of the door, what did he have to worry, the Turian is bound to the chair.

Or rather was.

Cal hardly had time for his jaw to drop as he noticed the chair was empty, before he saw stars as he was blind-sided by a savage kick to the right of his face. Cal was dazed, but certainly not out of the fight and so he had the presence of mind, to be able to dodge the punch that would have knocked him out, had been less alert.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Even though his surprise attack failed, Ocara would not admit defeat. As the guard turned towards him fully to try and bring his pistol to bear, Ocara dived forwards, thrusting a solid uppercut into the mans throat with his right fist, but not before the man managed to get a shot off, though in his adrenalised state his aim was skewed, and so the round tore through his left shoulder, instead of his chest as Cal had intended.

The man knelled down and grasped at his throat with his right hand, while holding himself up shakily with his left, desperately trying to reopen his crushed airways and get another breath of air.

Ocara gazed down contemptuously upon the man at his feet, savouring the feeling he derived from watching his enemy suffer as he had suffered. After a couple of seconds of silent gloating, Ocara snapped a kick into the mans left arm, sending him toppling to the ground. Not pausing to watch his enemy suffer this time, Ocara let out a shout, as he brought his foot down on the guards neck, snapping it and causing the guard to go limp.

Moving swiftly, Ocara pushed to limp guard over and onto his back, picking up the gun from the mans hands and exiting his prison, shutting the door behind him.

As it had before and as it did now, one thought, one name raced through his mind, driving him forwards.

Yossar ran after Karnak, jumping over the mangled body without giving it a thoght, letting Karnak lead the way. He used his biotics to flush the 4-6 out of their cover and let Karnak finish them with his shotgun. They turned a corner and Yossar spotted the three with the M-100's, he grabbed Karnak by the collar of his armor, and then pulled him back with both biotics and his own strength. As Karnak got out of the way, the first grenade hit next to Yossar, right where Karnak had been. The blast wiped out his shields as he turned around and yelled at Karnak to retreat, barely a half second later, a second shot hit sending shrapnel flying and into Yossar's back. Yossar gritted his teeth and kept running, adrenaline pumping through him, allowing him to make the last few strides to get into cover before collapsing.

"Lux, they sent reinforcements, three foot-mobiles with grenade launchers," He yelled as he began fumbling with his omni-tool to get it to administer medi-gel.

4-6:

Kurt had given the order for the rest of the gang to fall back. The three thugs carrying the M-100's rushed up the stairs. One fired towards Karnak and Yossar, as they were pushing their way up the hallway. Yossar barely had the time to pull Karnak out of the way as the two retreated into one of the barracks rooms. The other two continued firing down the hall, at the rest of Aegis, supressing them and forcing them to get out of the way.

As the thugs continued firing, the rest of the 4-6 remaing, headed towards the stairs. The ones that were closest tried to run back and bring some of the injured with them, but in the end, were only able to bring a few more with them.

As ammo started to run low, the 4-6 drew back towards the lower level. They had left behind seven of their men. Four of them had been killed in the fighting, while the other three had been wounded, and unable to be brought down with the rest of them.

Karnak:

Lux moved down the hall, making sure each room was clear as he passed by. He ordered the wounded to be thrown into the common area together. Karnak quickly restrained each of them with a set of hardened plastic cuffs. The cuffs were light and strong, allowing for him to carry several into combat. However, they could still be broken if the subject were able to find something sharp to cut it with. Fortunatly, the threat of several armed mercenaries and the wounds that each had suffered, made each man compliant as Karnak put them on.

"Verahl can decide your fate later," he muttered. "If it were up to me though, we'd be cleaning whatever was left of you up with a mop and sponge."

When he finished with the others, he walked over to Lux and the few others gathered around him. They were trying to figure out how to breech the next level.

"Like I said, I turned the corner and the machine gun opened fire on me," Lux continued as he explained again that a frontal assault was impossible. "Even though I managed to get out of the way, the short time I was exposed was still enough for them to almost strip my shields. We need another way down."

"Do you have any flashbangs in there?" Karnak asked as he pointed to the different packs Lux had strapped to him that held his explosives. "Or did you forget to bring them?"

Lux glared at Karnak, starting to lose his patience with him. If it were any other time, Lux would have been tempted to start something with him, but right now he needed to focus on the task at hand.

"I have them," growled Lux through gritted teeth. "Only problem is it'd only buy us a few seconds, and the blast won't catch enough of them."

Doc Miles:

Miles leaned back in his chair as he heard the gunfire and explosions from above die down. He smiled as he continued to read, before having another sip of his coffee, hoping that the fighting would move further away.

He sat in the corner of the room with his desk in front of him. The drawers and surface were a chaotic mess of different papers and folders. Even though the mess would make finding a specific page almost impossible, Miles knew where everything in it was.

The rest of the room was filled with different machines and beds. The facility was pretty good actually, allowing for Miles to easily keep up to five patients going at once thanks to the automated systems.

Everything seemed fine to Miles, until she started again.

"If it wasn't for these damn restraints, you'd be having to find your own doctor," Lexi hissed as she started to struggle in her chair once again. Her arms and legs were tied against it, making sure she couldn't move from it.

Miles simply looked from over the paper he was reading and glanced at her. He was still unimpressed by her threats, and was getting annoyed by her constant interruptions.

"Look sweetie, this is me being nice right now. But you keep speaking like this to me, and bugging me with how I'll be dead within the hour and such, and I'll put the gag back in you," he said as he shifted in the chair. He lowered the paper and leaned over the desk, looking directly at her now. He paused for a moment before resting his head on his hand and letting out a sigh.

"So... Why are you here anyways?" he asked, trying to at least get a decent conversation out of her. He was met with silence. "You know, I much rather prefer this stuck up ***** to the loud mouthed one."

"Go fuck yourself."

Moving blindly through the 4-6 base, Ocara moved as quickly as he could away from the sounds of the raging battle, desperately trying to ignore the protests of his various injured limbs.

Thankfully, the corridors he was wondering were devoid of 4-6, presumably due to the fact that most of them were either desperately trying to fight off the attackers, or fleeing in the face of their relentless enemy. It didn't matter to Ocara, all he cared about was making sure Lexi was safely away by the time he succumbed to his injuries.

Just as Ocara's anger began to dissipate and his body began to weaken, there was a noticeable lull in the cacophony of gunshots that had been ringing out above him and he heard a voice that buoyed him and filled him with strength once more.

"If it wasn't for these damn restraints, you'd be having to find your own Doctor!"

It was Lexi!

He heard her voice from behind the door that was just in front of him, even though his ears were ringing from the endless shooting and Lexi's voice was little more than a whisper, he heard her, clear as day.

As Ocara stacked up on the door, pistol in his right hand, ready to swing round and silence whoever was holding Lexi, he heard one other voice from inside the room, though it made little difference, they would be dead soon enough.

"Go fuck yourself"

Ocara swivelled around the door-frame and entered the room, his right arm outstretched infront of him and his working eye scanning the room as he approached Lexi and her captor.

The room seemed to be 4-6's med bay, with a survey table and various medical looking equipment scattered around the room, much like the equipment he had seen in Saint's whenever he had had to visit him.

The man looked up from his paper when a shadow fell over in, his voice was disinterested and generally bored, something Ocara would surely change.

"Alright, who's hit and whe--- Fuck"

The man stopped abruptly as he saw the pistol in his face and that his vistor wasn't some shot 4-6 punk, but a heavily injured, but none-the-less deadly looking Turian.

"Untie her you bastard. Now."

Raven barely made it into the stairwell as the drones tore through the area he and Verahl had been standing in. God damned trap. Shit Esten is still out there. Popping around the corner, he let lose a wall of fire from his Shredder hoping to at least force the drones back so they could get to Esten. Pleased when one of the drone became a sieve, he ducked back into the stairwell before speaking, "Ver, Esten's still trapped out there with the drones. What do you want to do? Bait and Kill?"

Basara sighed, thinking about their current situation. "Fuck..." he muttered. He couldn't see away out. He then looked at the 4-6 they had cuffed. "Hey, Lux. What if we sent a few of these bastards back over there, and put me in the mix? All I would have to do is put on some of their armor, hide my shotgun and get over there 'n take out the turret. I bring a flashbang along, det it in the middle of them and dive away. Problem solved." In truth, Basara was frightened of this plan, and couldn't believe he had suggested it. So many things could go wrong, it was like Basara was trying to see how much Lady Luck loved him. Still, he couldn't see any other plan, and those grenadiers would take them out sooner or later if they continued to dally.

As Lux and Karnak, Meer approached from the rear, punching his side for some reason. Only he knew that he had been shot during all of the fighting. The bullet had managed to puncture his armor through some horrible accident, and a sliver of it remained embedded in his side. The pain was unbearably small; just enough to be noticeable but not enough to be debilitating. At the moment it was a nuisance, therefore Meer attempted to introduce actual paint to keep his mind off of it.

"You could always send me." Meer said to Lux, pounding his fist in anticipation. He'd been relegated to the back of the group for much of the fighting, and hadn't gotten more than a single clip out on the 4-6 bastards. After everything he'd seen, it was obvious that these mercenaries knew how to put up a fight, and Meer wanted to capitalize on that. "If a flashbang isn't enough to buy you time, I guarantee you a krogan throwing them will."

Lux:

Lux shook his head at both Basara and Meer.

"It'd be suicide, even for you Meer. That machine gun will open fire the second you show yourself along with the rest of them soon after. You wouldn't even last seconds," he turned to face the others. "Any other ideas?"
