Someone mentioned the Mako yet? It was not fun to drive at all. And the physics is totally ridiculous. Driving around with that thing in planet exploration almost made me quit playing the game.

The side-missions are also incredibly repetitive.
I found the Mako more than adequate for the most part. Storyline missions were fine with it and I greatly enjoyed mowing down a Geth collosus and glitching it under my Mako's wheel. That's one of the more awesome bugs the game has.

Sidequests brought out the flaws with the mako. The fact that it lacked any sort of boost function to travel forward was a real downside when trying to make it over that one mountain, and the amount of "that one mountain"-'s on some of the sidequest planets was really silly at times. Still, for the most part the Mako was fine. I never used it for combat once I twigged that you got about 3x more experience fighting out of it than fighting in it and the physics, except for one or two planets, weren't crippling enough to make me hate it.

One of the nice physics bugs you get is that if you manage to get your mako entirely upside down when it lands on the ground, it shoots forward quite quickly I've found. Looks ridiculous. It rights itself up quite quickly though, but it's still fun to watch.

A shotgun is never ineffective. Range is only an excuse to shoot more.
As a Vanguard with an extra skill in Electronics, using up points in pistol to unlock shotgun would be a waste of points. I'm a pistol man through and through. Well, except when I'm pissing about, then it's Shotgun+Sledgehammer X+Decreased heat+more damage+increased rate of fire and more damage. Or Sniper Rifle+Scram Rail+Scram Rail+High Explosive X with not training in sniper rifle. What's that? Miniature completely inaccurate BOOM cannon in your hands? Yes please!

What he said.

Seriously, that's pretty much my feelings for the Mako exactly.

To quote my review of Mass Effect for the review contest:

"EDIT: Oh, and it has several scenes with half boob and butt. GO. BUY."

It's Shepard, not Sheppard.

Good review. I got bored with Mass effect after a while. It had a corny story and they should had replaced the Alliance with the USA. It would fit the mentality of the Alliance. Yes, I said it. It had an american feeling to it. I didn't like the ending. (Except the elevator part, who woudn't like that?)
Woahwoahwoahwoahwoahwowahwowhaawhwoawhwhwhw...woah....woah.............woah...............................woah.

You thought Mass Effect had a corny story? I thought it rivaled Star Wars.

Nice Review, I didn't agree with everything you said, specifically the thing about it not intertwining the genres, I felt it did that well.
Star Wars had a corny story....

My advice is to play Mass Effect all the way through once and then never play it again. I had stopped about a third of the way into my first Mass Effect game because I didn't like my character. All the epic battles, interesting dialogues and fun missions weren't as fun the second time through, and I really began to notice all the bugs and whatnot...

I ended up buying Mass Effect, and I truly did get my money's worth. The game has immense replay value, the visuals are extremely good, the story is excellent....however, on the other hand, does repetition bug you? Does repetition bug you? Does repetition bug you? That, and the fact that the combat is kinda 'meh' (and let's not forget about the elevators) is what holds Mass Effect back from perfection. Bring on the sequel!

Ah, the elevators...

Forgot to mention them. At least there was the occasional news report while riding them - even if it took a good 20 seconds to reach your destination.
