Its been stated before that Mass Effect 4 will have nothing to do with Shepard. The way they'll probably pull that off is by having the setting be either drastically before or after the events of Mass Effect 3, making all our choices moot.Mr Dizazta said:Save game backwards compatibility. Paying $30-$60 for a 'remastered' game with slightly shinier looks and a larger scope to fit on modern TV's was acceptable. It was bullshit - given how little work was done to most of them (most just adding what was equivalent to a texture pack mod that any modder could have offered you), but hey. Fine. New generation of people enjoying a previous generation of games. It'd be nice if they took the opportunity to fix some issues (like Metal Gear Solid 2's god awful controls), but whatever.
But Mass Effect? They aren't offering anything of value with a Mass Effect HD remake. The game already runs perfectly at HD resolutions. Its perfectly playable with no black bars or issues. It's not introducing Mass Effect to a new audience either - anyone who has interest in Mass Effect can still pick up Mass Effect and play them all. On their native consoles. And what would the fans get for their purchase? Is spending $60 on a franchise you already own and have beaten really worth it for some shinier textures and some DLC?
I mean, cmon. There are better places to allocate those resources.
And, even if our decisions do matter, telling people they have to re-purchase their entire franchise and play through the three games again to have their outcomes to crossover is not going to fly with a vast majority of players. That's a really good way to alienate the series core fans.
Especially when, I dunno, BioWare could simply make an App for the current gen systems that saves your Mass Effect data to an EA server (or the cloud), and use that as a way of importing your save data. Even if they made that feature cost $10, thats a MUCH better pill to swallow then $30-$60 PLUS 60+ hours of playtime on content you've already played.
