I'll take your word on that; never played them. But look at the time between the original Myth and Halo 2 (arguably the beginning of the end for Bungie). That was about seven years, give or take. At that rate, we've got quite a while before Bioware starts to slide.
I'm not all that convinced there will ever be a time where Bioware could shit into a DVD case and I'd not buy the special edition.

Why does everyone think Halo 3 was so god awful? I was fine with it.

What were you expecting? A script written by all the greatest minds in writing joined together in a brief instant of cosmic alignment? Graphics so beautiful that looking at it too long would cause your eyes to melt and your brain to explode from sheer viewing pleasure!? Gameplay mechanics forged by the gods of Olympus?!? You all complain about Halo 3 too much! By the way, why didn't you play the earlier games first? How can you complain about story when you haven't played the games that give you the background?

Anyway, no I don't think Mass Effect 3 is going to go down that certain path. Bioware has too good of story writing. Halo 3's ONLY problem at all was that the story wasn't it's best feature. Mass Effect 3 won't have this problem simply because of Bioware's skill at forging brilliant writing.

By the way, they do vaguely explain that the Human-Reaper was basically a fetus Reaper. The Reapers have to gather up organics and use them to facilitate reproduction. This is why they do the cycle. Also, I think we're supposed to assume that they end up looking similar by the time they're done(I.E. robotic cuttlefish).

I've actually heard an explanation for your plot hole

Since Sovereign was killed, there were no reapers left in the galaxy to activate the citadel and allow the Reapers to quickly jump into the galaxy and commence the harvesting. The reapers decided to create another one by putting their Collectors to work, since other species wouldn't find it that rare that the Collectors were abducting and since humanity was one of the few races making isolated colonies in the unexplored and dangerous Termanious system. The number of humans abducted compared to the total number of beings in the galaxy would be the equivalent of a small village of about 20 or so people in some remote place vanishing. It was actually a more perfect plan than I've seen in most other videogames in terms of Armageddon being unleashed.
well yer that makes sense, but why oh why...

was it shaped like a human?? yes they were making it out of humans, but a spaceship shaped like a human just doesn't make sense! and why do reapers need organic parts to create more of them? Bioware better have a great reason for that rather jarring ending!

Didn't Bungie make the Myth series before they remade the Marathon series? Those were pretty good games.
Let's not forget Oni. Also wish I could get my hands on a copy of Paraworld.

I never considered the Collectors to be actual Reapers. It's like saying an infected Marine was a true Zerg. But then again this is all from an outsiders view.

The Ps2 launch title? That game was Bad. And not in a Michael Jackson sort of way.

I kinda ignored the first two halo games, but the 3rd got so much praise I couldn't ignore it any further! for the record I enjoyed halo 3 one hell of alot, and I played the first two afterwards. kinda weird playing the prequels after the sequel, older gameplay and all that, but I can definitely agree the halo storyline was a lot better on combat evolved.

It was a PS2 launch title? Wouldn't know how it fared, had the Windows version. I found it to be a very fun third-person shooter/beat'em up.

Skeleton structor to be contained in a shell much like the other Reapers, though I'm betting it would probably keep the arms rather than the tentacles of the others. If you remember, Soveriegn was huge. Those lights on the citadel walls are freaking city blocks so you can compare size by looking behind it and when a small tentacle crashed into the council's room, it took out the whole huge room despite it being maybe the tip of a small leg. The reaper might actually be piloting that huge frame on the inside with that terminator body. Also, it's been millions of years since a Reaper was constructed, they probably don't have the blue prints of the old ones anymore, only the method of making new ones through the use of genocide. There are actually a lot of reasons you can make for why it would have a human form. However, Harbinger left before he could give us any ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL

I played the PS2 version. Loved it. Hard as hell though. had surprisingly large levels you could explore despite the game's linearity.

The only similarities the two have is in the space age look, space marines, plus Cortana making a cameo as a VI interfaces all throughout the Citadel.

The storytelling and character development although takes the franchise up a notch to Star Trek material (in my book) with more emphasis on space opera over space sci-fi (another words Star Trek the 2009 movie), with a hint of Star Wars (Spectre ≈ Jedi).

Another words, ME is Halo with a brain...lol

I have hopes that Bioware will take the advice that many fans (including me) have been leaving on their forums. MORE RPG ELEMENTS!!! Anyway, it will be awesome and perfect... I hope.
So what part of the game did you not feel you were playing the role of Shepard? But if your talking about a horrid mess of an inventory system and more in depth leveling system(I liked the first games better but the new one is just fine), or do you mean you want to go back to the sub par combat and mako sections(mind you the planet scanning was worse)?

Ok, I'm not sure what to start with. First of all, the Halo series is great, besides Halo 2. I don't know why everyone has been saying that it sucks, I guess because they all converted to MW2. Secondly, I'm not worried about the third Mass Effect being anything less then awesome. ME1 was cool, and ME2 is my favorite game of all time. ME2 also showed everyone that Bioware was willing to listen to the players' complaints and hopes. I mean, they even made Tali romancible(not sure thats spelled right, or even a word). ME2 was one of the most hyped up games of all time, but I thought it was great. I'm not worried.

"IF I HAVE TO KILL YOU SHEPARD, I WILL"- right thanks for that, I heard you the first 10 times! Well this is Bioware, so they can probably create some mutant dinosaurs that can shoot guns and still pull it off in style. and then maybe have them die off via a genetic virus that stops them from breedi...wait thats already been covered :p

Well actually I always thought mass effect was just alternate universe halo story. I mean if the covenant was government it would be the council

The Mass Effect trilogy will be a bigger success than Halo. The Halo series so far has shot its story in the back (a little like you said) and focused on its game play. Mass Effect 2 (and 1) each have a good feel to them. They removed the vehicle game play and inventory from their RPG because 75% of their complaints were about those. For a game to call itself an RPG it has to have two of the following three in my eyes: 1. Missions (Quests) for you to complete in any order that you choose, this rule can be occasionally exceeded to keep the plot on track. 2. An inventory system. 3. Moral choice systems. 4. An interesting and engaging plot that you as the player affect.

This is exactly why Borderlands could call itself an RPG. It had 1 and 2 nailed.
