So i've brought Mass Effect and i've loaded it up and had a quick play. It seems like a Halo wannabe in the shooter front but I thought it was meant to be an RPG style game?

I've started in a spaceship, created my character, gone onto a planet and i've just been killing things. Seems very similar to Halo just with character creation. Am I missing something or is there more to come and i should play more...?

Maybe play through a bit more? I haven't played it though.

How long have you played it?

Give it atleast 1 hour, thats my rule with all video games
I personally din't like Mass Effect because I just didn't like the characters, combat or style of the game

If you're focusing on the combat, you're missing a lot of the point. The storytelling of Mass Effect is where it stands out from almost all other games. Also, how is the combat Halo-like? I don't remember biotic abilities and guns that can shoot freezing/toxic/incendiary bullets in Halo...

I can't tell if your trolling or not. If you aren't and are being totally serious then you haven't played that much of the game yet. I don't understand the Halo comparison though. Any game with a sci-fi setting that involves shooting is a Halo wannabe??

Try playing more than ten minutes of the game before running off to the internet to complain about it.

Play more, explore the world.

You'll find that once you take the time to get into it a phenomenal amount of effort has gone into both the game and the world you play in. You shouldn't judge this game on the first couple of hours, it's not at all like Halo, you've barely gotten started.

How would it be a "Halo-wannabe" in the shooter front?
Mass Effect = Third Person Shooter.
Halo = First Person Shooter.
Mass Effect = Character Customization.
Halo = No Character Customization.
Just because you drew some vague similarities, doesn't mean it's a "Halo-Wannabe". Like the others say, keep at it! It's, in my opinion, nothing like halo.

1: Dont play a soldier, go for something like a Adept or infiltrator.
2: Wait untill at least the first batch of citadel missions
3: It has the goddamn Wrex.

sorry i should have said why i feel its a halo like game. Well i've only played about 30 minutes or so, 40 tops. But i just get bored at that point. It just feels like Halo in some ways, idk.

But if it gets better after this initial shooting portion then i will keep at it :)

I wouldn't play it if you find shooters boring as there is a lot of shooting in it. It's worth playing until you get into the Citadel station part at least. If you are mostly bored at that point then you should give up on it without a doubt.

Play more. Essentially, what you are doing now is an introduction. Ever played Oblivion? Remember how you went through a linear combat sequence on your way out of prison? Sorta like that. You will attain your freedom soon.

The "beginning" is your standard "get used to the gameplay/controls" segment you get in most RPG's. There's actually more dialogue than combat overall. Sadly, RPG tutorials are rarely particularly exciting. If you were looking for an RPG with some light shooter elements, the game certainly gets better. If you were looking for a shooter with great shooter elements, I really don't know, because I don't play shooters.

ah thanks, i do and i can see how this compares. I will pick it up and keep going for a few hours and see what happens :)

its just when you buy a game and your sitting there playing it wondering if your wasting your time/money, but i think this game may be worthwhile in a lil while :)

In other words, you are shallow minded and need the constant stimulation of thingies shooting at you, so that you have something to do. Stupid thread, from a stupid guy. Don't play a game you don't like; it's as simple as that.

Damn it, you stole all my points. I would add excellent atmosphere as well.
