so far ive found it to be boring and dull. i just went through c-sec and im about to get my own ship. if it doesnt pick up soon ill probably trade it.
Out of curiosity, what are you playing the game on? If 360, I have yet to find a shooter that uses the back button at all, if not to check scores. I don't know the keys for the PC.Ranooth said:I've tried many times to get into Mass Effect but have yet to succeed. I find it too slow and quite overwhelming when you haven't played for so long. Its a bit of a shame as i do love Bioware, hopefully Dragon Age will keep me satisfied.
Also having the common reload button for most shooters being mapped by default as the grenade button IS FUCKING ANNOYING!
PC Version, R is very common for reload in most shooters.T-Bone24 said:Out of curiosity, what are you playing the game on? Oh, I feel your pain then. R is grenade, that's wierd.Ranooth said:PC Version, R is very common for reload in most shooters.T-Bone24 said:Out of curiosity, what are you playing the game on? Was quite funny when i was hammering it when i started playing again and didn't realize that my rifle had overheated.
I liked mass effect, but I have to be honest - those effects really just amounted to little more than "my gun hurts more" which is hardly a game changer.cowbell40 said:If you're focusing on the combat, you're missing a lot of the point. The storytelling of Mass Effect is where it stands out from almost all other games. Also, how is the combat Halo-like? I don't remember biotic abilities and guns that can shoot freezing/toxic/incendiary bullets in Halo...
Similar to Halo how exactly?geon106 said:So i've brought Mass Effect and i've loaded it up and had a quick play. It seems like a Halo wannabe in the shooter front but I thought it was meant to be an RPG style game?
I've started in a spaceship, created my character, gone onto a planet and i've just been killing things. Seems very similar to Halo just with character creation. Am I missing something or is there more to come and i should play more...?
Ah, I see you're here already. I don't have much to add, except one thing: this game gets better as it goes on. The first act is decent (better because Nihlus is in it), the second act is great, and the third act is phenomenal.RebelRising said:That's just how the combat is...at face value, but weapon-mods, biotic/tech powers, and cover all factor into something that has distinct RPG tendencies. Also, I suspect you haven't even finished Eden Prime yet, in which case, wait until the Citadel; it's awesome and there are a bunch of primarily dialogue-oriented side-quests to do. The story is deep and epic, and the combat, I hope, will grow on you, as it did for me.
I love other rpgs like oblivion and fallout 3, jade empire isn't a bad game either, I just didn't like mass effectT-Bone24 said:Then why in the name of Thor did you buy an RPG?minispike47 said:I didn't like mass effect, sure the graphics were good and there is and epic story but the combat was boring and I just wanted some fast paced action.
